I went back to the service center and asked for a checkup.
When we heard this sound for the first time it was quite late in my deserted office parking lot. In that complete silence this was easily audible.

We then kept our ears close to the engine of other cars and heard the same, if we strained hard enough.

Had a good laugh about it.

I have seen this being used quite often here, in Australia, and looks to be quite stable. I believe the other factor to take into consideration is how heavy the bike is.

I had it delivered to a US address. A friend brought it back. I use it on the Hyderabad ORR and drive there at about 100+ kmph. No issues so far with stability. Primary use is when car goes in for service. I drop the car and cycle to office.

Or if something serious is busted in the cycle and I need to take to the repair shop.

I bought the exact same thing from US 2 years back. This can carry two bikes though.

I have used (and abused) this rack quite a lot. It has never failed me (touch wood). However, it is not very stable with 2 heavy cycles, like two btwin RRs.

Also, be careful with those pin like things that needs to be pressed to fold the rack. I pressed one of them too hard and that is now stuck inside. From the reviews on Amazon, this seems to be a common grouse. I have done a jugaad by putting a regular screw/nut in that position for now.

Car went in for its service last week.

This was at 22,500 kms and there were no issues.
Just basic service.

I also got the car interiors shampoo washed. The front wipers were replaced.

Bill was about 3,500 including the cleaning etc.

Over the weekend took the car on a drive from Hyderabad to Punyasthala(NW Karnataka).
A distance of 575 kms (one way).

On my onward journey I took the Hyderabad - Kurnool - Bellary - Chitradugra - Punyasthala route.
The return was on the PUnyasthala - Hospet - Gangavathi - Raichur - Mahaboob Nagar - Hyderabad.

The worst stretch was in the Bellary - Chitradugra - Punyasthala

In some parts there was just no road. I encountered a stretch of 10 kms where the surface was as if some one folded the surface and crumpled it up. It was so horrible that everyone was driving at less than 15 kmph.
A mistake in the last part of the journey got me on to a bund as I followed some tractors. It was only the next day that I realized how bad that part was. The car handled remarkably. She swallowed every bad part of the road and did not rattle nor did it cause me to get rattled.

Amazingly I saw more Sail's in this area than I have in any other place.

A mileage update.

I left Hyderabad with a tank full of petrol. On the highway I filled up petrol twice. Once it was for 1600 and another for 1500.

Today I tanked up again and the car took in petrol worth 2300. But since I had already paid for 2500, we shook car and forced in the extra.

Total petrol used was for Rs 5400 for a distance of approximately 1300 kms.

A per km cost of Rs 4.15.

I can only wait in glee for petrol prices to go lower.
