re: BBLost's Chevrolet Sail UVA: First 1,000 kms weekend trip done.

Congratulations and a very nice ownership thread. I am sure the car will give you good service, Chevy has always been very understated in our market. I actually like them alot, they are simple no fuzz cars and are really nice to drive also. The color choice is also great, i had noticed only red till now but i feel this color is much more elegant than the bright red

Once again happy motoring!

re: BBLost's Chevrolet Sail UVA: First 1,000 kms weekend trip done.

Car got a little bit of pampering today. Just went down to the neighborhood 3M station. Picked up a pair of Nomad carpets.

The price was approximately 4,000 for the full car. I got them installed only for the front seats. My in-laws apartment has horrendous parking. Usually dirty and filled with slush.

My family can wait by the much cleaner waiting area while I retrieve the car.
Also with both my kids in child seats, I did not see much value in fixing carpets there.

Today I also happened to drive my family over to the in-laws. Had both the child seats installed and my wife also sat in the rear.
The car serves my requirement with no room for complaints.

Does it come in a set of two? I was told at the 3M centre that it comes in a set of 3 mats - front two and one rear which you can opt either full piece or part by part.

Do let me know your review on the mats coz in my case the driver side mat is developing bald spots at the point where the heel of my left foot rests when the clutch is operated. I got it replaced from 3M once, but the replacement has also developed the same issue. It is me or the mats which are incorrect?

It come as a large roll and strictly speaking its sold on a per sq ft rate.

I told them I wanted only the front seats, they measured it out and gave me a quote.
I think the drivers side mat will only last about a year or so.
One option is to place another carpet on top of it to prevent excessive wear and tear.

Congrats Imran. Welcome to the Chevy Club

I like the UVA in the RED but these days this shade of grey is the most popular in almost all car brands

Nice to know you have selected a Chevy, Iam sure nonwithstanding its popularity, iam sure you will enjoy the ownership.

re: BBLost's Chevrolet Sail UVA: First 1,000 kms weekend trip done.

Lovely choice of color, arguably the best shade in the current Chevy range.
As long as YOU and your FAMILY are happy with the car, and its serving the purpose there is not reason for you to reason your decision
I'm glad that you went ahead with the Chevy, and that too in petrol despite the many negative opinions / warnings you got from all of us! Takes a lot of determination, especially when you are buying a car with a 5 year+ perspective.
Congratulations again Immy, happy motoring

Another is the express window down for at least the driver side.

By sq ft meaning they cut to fit your car? Does it have anti-slip feature and heel wear patch?

I saw this in a booklet the dealership had.
Also its there on the website for the sedan: http://www.chevrolet.co.in/sail-seda...cessories.html

Both the hatch and the sedan share these things. So what can fit there should work here as well.

Yes. They cut it and fit it. There is no heel wear patch. I asked them to make a small hole on the drivers side mat so that it can sit plush on the carpet holder knob on the floor.

One thing I miss in the car is the coin holder. There is none.
Your pic in post#7 shows one with some currency notes in it. There is another open cubby hole above it??

re: BBLost's Chevrolet Sail UVA: First 1,000 kms weekend trip done.

Hey congrats on the car and nice review! Welcome to the Chevy club. Nice choice of colour, this silver and the bright red look really good on this car.

Chevy cars, mainly the Sail brothers, don't sell well mainly due to lack of proper marketing and usually most people think Chevys are expensive to maintain.

I really like all cars from this stable and all are pretty good to drive. I found the exterior build quality slightly better than the Swift. I love my Spark and even though it is 6 years / 45000kms old there's not even a single rattle.

If I wanted to upgrade to a new car in the 6-7 lacs range I'd easily choose the Sail sedan.

But they will keep rattling there. :(

My Wagon R had a proper coin holder, a group of semi circles perfectly sized to hold coins.

But then again maybe Chevy feels and looking at the economy quite rightly so, what can you do with coins?

Get a rubber pad, cut it to size ...and fit it in there flush.

Use double sided tape if it does't stay in place.

I read on some US forum on how to install push start. Let me know if you're interested.

Thanks! The brushed Al trim sounds interesting but I see no pic.

In fact they should offer it as standard on their LTs & LTZs instead of the hideous looking painted silver.

First Mileage Update.

My car had completed 250 kms of driving since I last filled up petrol.

Took her over to the nearest shell and topped her up.

Price of petrol at 80.40, a grim reminder of the days ahead.
Odo read 265 kms.
Took in 22 liters before auto stop kicked in.

12 kmpl on a brand new car. Usage was with AC on for 95% of the time. AC setting was a mix of hot and cold with outside air intake set to on.
50% of the time I had my family with me.
A mix of city traffic and freeways.
I don't exactly baby the engine. I prefer a breakin across rpm ranges. In fact later today a ORR drive of 150 kms is planned.

My wife had been complimenting me on the smooth driving of this car. She particularly loved the way it soaks up bad roads.
I had not checked the air pressure since the time of delivery. Found it at 44psi.
Promptly brought it down to 35 psi.
34 psi is the recommended value.

re: BBLost's Chevrolet Sail UVA: First 1,000 kms weekend trip done.

Congrats Imran for the new car. I guess this is the first initial ownership review of the SAIL UVA petrol.

12 is a good FE figure for a brand new car. I wish you many happy miles in it.

I was curious to know how the low end torque compares to the WagonR F10 model?

Not the first review of the Sail UVA. We have a review thread on both the petrol and a diesel.

Its got slightly more power and the AC does not zap it all out. It feels almost the same to me with the F10 of the Wagon R having a slight edge above the Sail.
