BOSS took a break for completing 4 years of glorious service.

I did a 2000km trip to Bengaluru, Mysore and Coorg etc.

This was the first long drive after the Ironman suspension upgrade and new Continental Cross Contact tyres.

There is a definite difference in the overall ride quality, control and in cabin comfort that makes the driving experience, better with Ironman suspensions.

The tyres are very good both on dry and wet tarmac. The grip in heavy rains is commendable.

Hi, how much did full car cover with PPF cost ? I was told by a 3M car care store here, that it would be well over 1 lakh. Per sqft cost of 57x/- or something ?
Also, since white is not the best color for PPF films, how many months before you saw some yellow colouration ? Curious to know if waxing on the film help ?

Hi lancer,

I have PPF applied in full for both bumpers, wheel arches, all door bottom portions, door sill areas, side view mirror outers, half of the bonnet etc. It costed me around 45k.

The PPF discoloration- I have not seen the new PPF getting discolored yet and it has been around 3 months that it has been applied. The earlier PPF got yellowish within a months time, though!!

The waxing approach was done for the earlier PPF. The new one, I don't want to apply any wax on it, to see if that is the culprit.

BOSS has some refreshing updates to share.

1. Battery was replaced as it ran for 4 years and I felt that the cranking was little longer, than regular. Went for Amaron with 3 years warranty.

2. BOSS completed 60k service, replaced air filter, engine oils and I also replaced disc brake pads, though they could have run for another 10k kms. Total cost of 14k INR was the expense.

3. BOSS got adorned with IRONMAN Snorkel during one of the drives to Bengaluru recently. The mileage has increased by 0.5kmpl per initial observations. An expensive addition, but was one of the 'to do' things from my side for BOSS.

BOSS had an unfortunate incident and quite a freak one at that! While reversing to park under the covered parking at a highway restaurant, BOSS touched the support angular of the shed and broke the rear glass and the right side quarter glass.

Got them fixed at Harsha Toyota and the damages are Rs. 48,000/- with major part claimed under insurance.

BOSS also got it's 65k services done during the same time, which costed me Rs. 1800/-

BOSS is then treated for it's hardship at 3M with the right grooming services. Full exteriors and interiors were cleaned. Seat leathers were shampooed and leather restorer+detailer was applied.

BOSS is restored to it's pristine glory.

It was adequately pampered at 3M and is groomed well to be back to it's loyal service.

BOSS has been serving it's master with much delight. The love with the car only grows over a period of time!! Recent updates include

1. Replacement of 3M Thinsulate under bonnet, which helps in a more silent cabin
2. Procured an car inverter 2000W, that can help me for my long drives for various needs on the move
3. Replaced high beam bulbs to LED HB3 9005, 6000k procured from US
4. Procured an adjustable cloth/suit hanger that sits on the grab handles of the last row, an useful gadget for long drives for me
5. Purchased a butane camping stove in India and some canisters, very impressed with the quality of the product

I met a fellow Fortuner owner in Hyderabad, when Denzil drove from Mumbai to Hyderabad on business, it was a pleasure meeting him.

I somehow missed updating the thread about the external sensor driven TPMS that I procured from AliExpress at $35/- in last August, which has been serving the car very well.

The product is worth the price and has good quality, comes with extra washers too, to stop water ingress. The internal display sits in one of the power points/cigarette lighter points. Has a nice blue display that doesn't hurt the eyes during night drives and monitors tire pressure and temperature too.

I was happy with this set that I bought another set for Ford Ecosport, as well.

Dare I say, that your Fortuner looks amazing and parked alongside the current one, your Fortuner appears to tower over it. How is the high beam throw & light now? Would appreciate pictures if you can manage.

Hi Sheel, thank you! The height is because of the Ironman lift kit. I will have to click the high beam and low beam pictures and send them to you, will do soon.

All are online purchases only.

The inverter is from AliExpress. The stove make is Hans Butane stove from Amazon.in. The LED HB3's are from Amazon.com.

BOSS went to a road trip to accomplish the milestone of 70000 kms on the Odometer.

The Ironman suspensions do have a great difference in the ride quality and how the car holds on the long drives from in cabin comfort perspective.

The 70000 kms service was a regular affair with Engine Oil and Oil filter being changed, I also got 3 door switches replaced as I felt they were not functioning properly. Brake pad and drums were cleaned, clutch bleeding was done, as well. Wheel balancing, alignment and rotation was done to ensure longevity of the tyres. A proper underbody and body wash followed to groom BOSS !!

Some updates on BOSS:

1. Went for dual channel Race Dynamics Dieseltronic box and had it installed at Indian DeCars
2. My recent Manila trip saw some Accessorisation for BOSS. Upgraded the tail lamps to Vland BMW type lamps, black borders for headlamps and taillights, side view mirror black inserts, rear hatch gas struts replacement as the OEM ones have become weak.
3. 3M Hypershield treatment done, which restored the whiteness and shine of the car
4. BOSS celebrated 6th birthday and completed 5 years of impeccable service on 7th September, nostalgia filled the air.
