Thank you.

Just got the car back and I am completely impressed by the work done by the Leatherman guys. Have a look:

Yay I have seat-back pockets now:

They did the arm-rest pad pretty neatly:

Although I wanted black + red stitches. I chose beige since the outer color is black and the seats would further darken the appearance and make it a bit claustrophobic inside. Now the interiors look a bit classier than the stock fabric seats. Maintenance is going to be a big pain now. This shade is prone to being dirty pretty soon. Paid Rs. 8500 including the new flooring work.

Hi Gannu,

Have a quick question regarding the tail-lights. Were the connectors a direct swap for the Euro tail lights or did you have to source them as well?

I understand that the reverse light and fog light got swapped. This could be because a RHD version was not obtained. One can get RHD versions from the UK or elsewhere now I think.

If you could share a pic of the connectors on the back it would be really helpful!

Edit: nevermind - going through your detailed DIY and will post questions, if any, there!

The seat covers look great Gannu. Love the fit and finish. I am also planning on getting a similar design done on my Polo, but in black.

Even i am going for the same shade but a little more darker one or dark brown or tan. I liked the work done on your car. Where is this leatherman shop? Any other suggestions are also welcome. What did you do to the floor? Is it full floor mat?

I'd advise a darker shade like copper orange. This is a pain to maintain.

The Leatherman shop is located at Shornur Road, Nurani, Palakkad. Do find out if there are good upholstery guys in Calicut.

For the floor, I had the entire floor carpet covered with a black plastic'ish material which is easier to clean. The upholstery guys usually do this as well. On top of this, noodle mats are placed which have been cut to the dimensions of the floor.

You mean the colour which comes with the new polo? Does it match with the interiors which is beige and black? If you have any pics of the same, please share.

No not that. The color resembles the one which comes in the stock upholstery of the BMW sedans. It does match with the dark grey-beige plastic trims inside. More with an all black interior like the new GTs.

If you are getting the upholstery changed, don't forget to change the cloth on the door pads as well. I don't have pics of that.

re: Gannu's VW Polo GT TDI ownership log : 35,000 km up!

Managed to fix the stock GT logo on the honeycomb grill with some jugaad!

Got hold of these:

VW Polo GT TDI ownership log EDIT: 9 years and 178,000 km later...-wp_20141009_20_17_31_pro.jpg

Which are used for fixing the toilet seats on the European closets.

Trimmed the angled part:

Trimmed the logo’s back plate from the stock one:

Stuck both of them using Araldite and left it for curing overnight. Inserted the logo into the slot where the GTI logo was once fixed and threaded it using the wing nut from the rear:

Will be taking up the projectors’ installation next.

I've attached a wider convex mirror over the stock one. These clip-on types are available on all accessory shops.

gannu bro,

firstly congratulations on marriage. your life is going to change.... for the better

second, you know i want to do the same mod. the gti font is not matching my gt tsi on the sides and back.

i took off the GT letters from the oem grill with a knife and cleaned up the residue on the back. although the method you mentioned is simple, i'm stuck at few questions...

1. where can i buy that white plastic part ? order online or any local store ?
2. you cut GTI black plastic part and stuck the GT on it right ?
3. which version of Araldite did you use ? i went to their website and got confused ? also where can i buy it ? order online or local store ?

Cheers.

Brilliant. And please don't term it jugaad. That's improvisation and ingenuity at its best. Looks much classier than leaving the GTI badge. Can it be moved a bit to the right? I can see a hole besides the 'T'. Or will it expose a a similar hole on the left?

The workman ship on the seat looks very good. A steal for that price. But I would have retained the stock covers. That Milan' Titanschwarz fabric upholstery is one of the best offered. A personal choice really.
