Check the relays and connections. Could be a convenience ECU assuming there is one to operate windows and locking like in VAG cars. Might be related to the water leakage

Sounds like a connection problem - again might be related to the specific ECU. Do the lights work?

Did the water leakage short a switch by any chance?

Thanks for the heads up will get the cabin pollen filter looked at. For other problem's the so called specialists are blaming rat bitten wires. The airbag switch is faulty and has to be replaced.

Had got it traced already by the dealership to ascertain how long it was in the warehouse and thankfully it was not one of the effected cars.

The dealerships are notorious for making money out of sorry situations. I think you would need to take a call on whether you want to persist with this lemon and keep on paying charges for a product that has many manufacturing defects or if you would dump this at a dealer and take the Renault management head-on for a new fault-free car. Today was a important day, got some pressure put on Renault via political channels because other ways were not working. Got a call almost instantly from someone in Renault Delhi after political pressure. The extract of my long talk is that Renault will not refund the money I have paid already but they offered to pay 30% for full rectification of the current problems. This is not the best deal but its something and I can always pass the car to my uncle sooner than later but in that case I will have to get myself a second hand car till I can afford something I really want.

5900KM UPDATE:

Divorcing Her

Number of system's and sub-system have been replaced. This includes the ECU, Door boosters, Complete left side wiring among other things. All seals in the engine bay were rechecked and redone. I am satisfied with the work that Renault did in the past one month but not satisfied with the car at all which is why with a very heavy heart I have decided to pass it on to my uncle sooner than I had planned. Fluence has drained me financially and I don't know when I can buy a new German car so getting a 2nd hand car in the mean time have short listed Skoda Octavia Ist Gen and Hyundai Accent Viva both in diesel.

Overall I got a discount of about 30% the worst part is that the A.S.S still tried to sell me on extra fluids & engine cleaning. People told me that Germans are expensive to maintain well they obviously never experienced French engineering at its finest.

This clearly seems to be a case of a lemon sad to see what it has done to you. I would suggest battling it out in court but then I wouldn't blame you for giving up since our government does nothing for the poor consumer in such instances.

If you are driving yourself, buy the Octavia, if anyone at all wants to sit behind then forget about it and buy an Optra Magnum The Hyundai is best left out of the next car equation

53,000KM UPDATE:

I had tried very hard to sell the car around 2014 but did not find good offers so had no alternative but to keep the car and I tried to use it only on short city drives because I did not feel comfortable or safe with it. Turns out there is rust developing under the body so had full 3M rework done and also have made custom inserts made to help with the water coming in the cabin problem.

Additionally Renault has also re-welded the area above the wheel arch. Overall its not a car I would have suggest to anyone but I will keep this car until it dies or I get a acceptable offer.

Will also keep all you updated when it reaches 55K.

55,000KM UPDATE

While on way from Chandigarh to Shimla via the bypass hit a stone which was laying at the middle-side of the road "Must be used to stop a truck from rolling down" it cracked my oil sump but it did not show any signs of bleeding so started the car again and went to Chandigarh "Manimajara" to get it looked at and get the crack sealed to my dismay the guy told me this is a aluminum sump and it has to be changed rather than fixed so I went to the shoddy service center of Renault where they took 3 days to fix the car and I had to take up residency in a hotel instead of continuing my journey.

The work was fine and it has not leaked till now but it seems there is a weird humm that was not there before.

Since I have serviced the car in regular fashion and gotten 3M treatment done everywhere rust issues have been isolated.

Renault has good designs with bad insides it seems, the rear suspension has also developed a leak and changing the part is needed.

64,000KM UPDATE


Having problems with the dealer network in some places. Parts have to be ordered way before and the know how for the car is not exactly nation wide. Thankfully the engine being common among Renault was less of a problem but that is not the case anymore.

Two-Three weeks ago the car did not reliably take in accelerator input and "Engine failure hazard" came on the screen. This was the tip of the problems now that since the closest dealer was in Himachal Pradesh and he was in dispute with Renault which was not known at the time so I had the car taken there and my car was fixed temporarily by them and again gave trouble which near Chandigarh.

Since I was in a hurry to reach Delhi I left the car with the official dealers in Chandigarh where it is till now. Estimated price of repair is around Rs.1,72,000 and the dealer has told me of quite a few things that needs to be changed including the MAP Sensor and even an injector among other things.

I will see what the status is when I reach back but driving it down to Dehradun unfixed is not possible. Missing and accelerator malfunction can have its roots in bad fuel but Renault people said they drained the whole tank and even put a new fuel filter but it was the same.


I am looking into the possibility of selling it after getting it fixed or even before it, the general quote I got from Renault was 5-6Lac and around 6-7 online quote since the manufacture year is 2012 as opposed to 2013.

Sold her to my uncle for peanuts after a 0.8Lac service in Chandigarh. Items replaced ranged from belts to the window motors to fuel filter/pump among others but it was signed off upon by the head Renault North.

Now going forward have bought a new car and this one is again Heart over Head, Review will be up soon.
