Hi anurag. Have not seen updates from you for some time now. Your Blue Streak would have completed 50k by now. Hope the car is serving you without any major probems? Looking forward for the updates.

re: The story of a Blue Streak a.k.a Maruti Swift ZDi (Torque Blue). 1,20,000 km up & now sold

Hi Anurag

Already completed 40k+ kms I still remember us discussing about whether to wait for the facelift or not and finally went for the pre facelift models. Miss my Dzire a lot and still remember the day I had to let it go Anyways as the saying goes "kuch paane ke liye kuch khona padta hai"

So any ideas of upgrading to the S-Cross to get a taste of the DDIS 320 anytime soon?

A nice small detailed update is on the way. Currently the car is at 49766 kms.

Lol. My Swift will be at 50K kms milestone in another 3 days.

As far as S Cross goes, that is the replacement for my Swift. Confused between S Cross and XUV 5OO. But this still has another 1.5 years left. I'll be changing after the Swift hits 1 lakh kms.

50,000 kms UPDATE:

Finally the car does reach and clock another milestone in its life with me!

The story of a Blue Streak a.k.a Maruti Swift ZDi (Torque Blue). 1,20,000 km up & now sold-img_20150713_084124.jpg

The car has been running with no great updates though and is totally rattle free with FE hovering between 20.5 to 21.3 kmpl. Now a days the car has been frequenting both city traffic and highways so the Average FE can be treated as 50:50.

Best FE (IIRC):

City: 19.6 kmpl
Highway: 23.2kmpl

Worst FE (IIRC):

City: 18.5 kmpl
Highway: 20.1 kmpl

Current FE is 21.4 kmpl!

Shall be sending the car for the 50K kms service sometime in this week though post which shall put up the costs incurred for the servicing.

A few DIY's done on the car in the meantime and things bought for the car:

1) DIY Install of LED tail lamps and Indicators:
DIY: LED's

2) DIY Install of Cabin LED lamps:

Ah, Thanks Sumeet!

We have bought the Alto K10 AMT and not the Celerio.

I travel through them everyday and have been doing it since 4.5 years.

Oh yes my bad i meant the Alto K10 only, i guess the Amt thing has been attached with the Celerio so much that i mistakenly typed in Celerio. Alto is my favorite and i hope to read your review on it as well. Those roads quite frankly look creepy and scary

The review will be up soon, it is being penned down. Hardly getting time to dedicate!

Those roads aren't desolate, you need to visit the road to see how polluted and dusty they are. The pictures were clicked at 5am I guess hence it looks scary!

Late to be joining this thread, but anyway, nice to know that your Swift is serving you well. Hope you clock more miles with smiles. Nice colour.

Have you upgraded the headlights or fog lamp bulbs? The light appears to be a lot whiter (than stock) in the pictures. Sorry if you have mentioned already, I haven't read the complete thread (had followed it from the start till some time).

And, before I forget to say, congratulations on the Alto K10. Nice to see people moving away from the regular white and silver colours.

Thank you for the words Nik! I have upgraded the headlights only on my Swift to Philips Rally 100/90W + Hella wiring kit (130/100W). They are yellow in colour.

Fog lamps too were in pipeline to be upgraded but I didn't as I hardly use the fogs hence left it there.

Wow! Those headlights look really bright! When did you do the headlight mod? I mean, how long has this setup been running? Any issues caused by it? Have the headlight reflector and glass started to degrade?

I have been exploring options for augmenting my car's illumination capability and it seems there basically three options - HID, 100w bulbs and auxiliary lamps. I really don't want to mess with my car's warranty especially since I got it for 4 years but the headlights, though decent for the specs, could be a little better.

The 100w upgrade seems to be the cheapest and simplest mod since the updated wiring kit is not too expensive. However, I am concerned about the headlights' aging getting accelerated since plastic can only withstand so much heat. Then there is the concern about the load those lights will put on the system. Sure the relay will bypass the main electrical system but the alternator would have to work a little bit harder to compensate for the extra 6 amps of current draw.

I have done this mod in the month of March which is almost 4 months and approximately 12000 kms. I use more of low beams and a frequent use of headlight 'pass' during overtaking. The headlight casing is healthy with no deformation or changes to reflector unit.

I do not let the vehicle idle with the headlights on at traffic signals, I do not keep in high beam for longer periods unless necessary. I can vouch for this setup on the Swift. Please use branded components.

Bulbs - Philips Rally 100/90W
Wiring harness: Roots or Minda or Hella

I chose rally bulbs and Hella wiring kit that is made for a higher rating than what I am using actually. The kit withstands till 130/100W.

EDIT:

PS: I keep looking at the headlight everyday to see any changes happening.

I saw your reported post for the thread title update and thought "Hmmm, didn't he just request one recently?".

She's looking really nice. Congrats on a well-kept ride.

Thanks GTO for the kind words. With a daily drive ranging between 105 to 130 kms, the odometer just doesn't stop.

Aim now is to reach 1,00,000 kms faster so that the S-Cross can be put in the Swift's place.
