I do seriously want to go and check the barrels of oil at their ASC. Genuinely synthetic or not.

This wasn't the issue when I did the 60K service at home. Hence decided to get the engine oil myself.
Maruti ASC guys here in Faridabad have stopped putting in synthetic oil completely. Even on my insistence they refuse to do so. They say that Maruti recommends just one oil for all diesel which is as per them "high quality oil" but is neither semi-synthetic nor synthetic, so obviously its mineral.

So, after I get their mineral oil changed to synthetic oil at my local FNG after 5k KMs.

re: The story of a Blue Streak a.k.a Maruti Swift ZDi (Torque Blue). 1,20,000 km up & now sold

Nothing much to report here as the car is clocking miles as reliably as she can.

Odometer reading with FE:
The story of a Blue Streak a.k.a Maruti Swift ZDi (Torque Blue). 1,20,000 km up & now sold-img_20160401_073912.jpg

This is the same figures I am achieving since last two full tanks.

Been using System-D since the last 20 full tanks and happy with the results on response or smoking issues.

Current odometer is 75,587 kms.

Cya until the next update at 80K kms that would come in another 45 days mostly.

PS: On the 6th I'll be getting hands on Mobil Delvac 1 5W40 oil for my cars 80K service. Have contacted a few dealers here and they have assured me of the stock by 6th. Hopefully I can lay hands on this beautiful oil for my MJD!

Since upgrading to 100/90W bulbs, IIRC this is the second time the bulb has fused (Left side - Low beam only).

Went to the accessory store and got a pair of Philips Rally 100/90W for 215 per bulb.

Scanned the QR Code to check for authentic and add per the Philips website it says the product is original.

The Bulbs:

The car is back in its light! Happy to have both my eyes lighting up.

re: The story of a Blue Streak a.k.a Maruti Swift ZDi (Torque Blue). 1,20,000 km up & now sold

Dash Camera UPDATE:

After a lot of deliberation and few close calls, I decided to invest in a decent Dashcam. Initially with a low budget, I began my search and narrowed on MINI 0801 but was discouraged due to heating issues. So the next one that was good enough after comparing specs was MINI 0806.

Though steep but I found it good enough when comparing to all the ones I searched.

My requirements were:
  • Shouldn't cost above $100;
  • Day and night time videos must be good enough with number plate readability;
  • Small in size and must blend-in with the interiors (especially the IRVM);
  • Good storage capacity so that I don’t need to keep emptying the memory card.

MINI Series - Specification comparison
The story of a Blue Streak a.k.a Maruti Swift ZDi (Torque Blue). 1,20,000 km up & now sold-mini-cam-comparison.jpg

All of my requirements were met by this cam, so I bought the MINI 0806.

Total Costs:

Dashcam: $98 - ₹ 6,986
Memory Card: (Samsung 64GB Class 10) - ₹1,054
Hardwiring Kit: $3.24 - ₹ 216

Total: ₹ 8,256

What all needs to be done at 70K service for old VDi?

The JP Nagar Mandovi SA is quoting 8-9K for 70K service. Once we roll the car into service station they just insist and add procedures. So just want some heads up, what these guys might be upto.

Please advise.

You'll need to change the following:

Engine oil
Engine oil filter
Air Filter
AC Filter
Fuel filter

Nothing more for the 70K service.

And you are really lucky to escape from the custom duty, I had to pay custom duty.
Do they give any warranty now?

Regarding warranty I am not sure but remember GearBest guys telling something. Have to search my emails on this subject.

The value declared was $55 and marked as gift with package contents as Car DVR.

Agree with you regarding the size, small and compact. With a 1.5" screen, it is a well packaged dashcam. Will be completing installation tomorrow evening, hopefully.

Hi Anurag!
My driving pattern is similar to yours (my office commute to & fro is 110KM) and I have been feeling the need to go for a Dashcam in my Figo TDCi as well!
Looking forward to your review of the Mini0806 dashcam!!

Even mine was declared as some $30 and marked as gift. But still it came under scanner. So, you need some luck

MANUALS UPDATE

Quoting my post from 16.03.2014 regarding my search to source the manuals for Swift.

Quote:
I have ordered a few more things from Maruti for my car.

1) Parts Catalogue for Swift DDiS (Part No.: 99000M24120-726) - Rs 186/-

2) Workshop Manual for Swift DDiS (Part No.: 99500M74L00-74E) - Rs 1000/-

3) Supplementary Manual for Swift DDiS (Part No.: 99510M74L00-74E) - Rs 300/-
Took me 2 damn long years to get hold of the workshop manual. All MGP stockists and Maruti HO were against from selling the book whatsoever it is. Thanks to BHPian Leoshashi, I got hold of it and he took pains to ship them to me.

Reading through the manual is now keeping me busy!

A very nicely detailed review. Really amazed at the kind of FE you are getting. I have done 70k in 4 Years of my Zdi, and the city FE with AC has been around 14.5, and on Highways its anywhere near 18.5. The best till date has been around 23 without AC on NH1.

Thank you Sir for the appreciation.

I am currently getting 21 kmpl on every Full tank since the past 6 full tanks that I have done.

100% A/C with 40:60 (City:Highway) driving pattern. Pretty happy with the car till date and it still feels like new.
