Did you take the picture? It is visible from under the dash on the passenger side?

I have added a picture of the filter indie the housing behind the glove box.

It is no visible but one has to touch and realizesince I was clueless how to pull it out.

There will be a plastic cage type semi circle cover below which sits the filter. One has to open the glove box to fit the filter.

So, once again a 5 star thread from you. So detailed and so exhaustive.

I wonder from where you take out time, for writing such wonderful ownership reviews, out of your busy office schedule ( shift duties etc.).

Proud to have you as a friend!

Fantastic review, Anurag. Your attention to detail is commendable!

Do post a comparison of the Swift with the Ritz, that many of us are waiting for.

Wish you many happy miles on the Swift.

re: The story of a Blue Streak a.k.a Maruti Suzuki Swift ZDi (Torque Blue) - 30K kms up!

Guys here is another small update from my side.

Visited 3M, Madhapur as I wanted to see how does their Foam wash is like and in the process added the PPF to all 4 door edges and Handle recess.

At 13:00, called Mr. Arun for fixing an appointment and to be sure that they are working and they will be able to attend my car for completion of the job, spoke to him and confirmed that I'll be reaching the store by 14:30. He agreed and hung up.

Reached the store at 15:00, handed the car to Mr. Arun, he asked what is my requirement - I said Foam wash + PPF installation. He said Ok and took the car for the foam wash.

The washing process took about 45 minutes with high attention to detail and the care taken to spray the car at certain sensitive points was kept in mind. There is just no need to instruct the guys at work or Mr. Arun (He knows what is the best).

Once the washing was done the car was air dried, brought out from the washing bay, 4 guys come with the weapons and start vacuum cleaning and polishing the car. After the polishing was done the PPF addition work was started.

They have kept templates for the door handle recess which helps in easier understanding of the required amount of film for all 4 door handle recess. The template was placed and checked for correct fitting, I was shown how it would be after completion of work, found it very good so the guys were given the green signal to make the PPF cut-outs for the remaining 3 recess. In the meantime, PPF was being added to the door edges, which I must say is a pretty painful job so as to avoid any air bubble entrapment or misalignment of the film. The whole job was completed in 1.5 hours, which is pretty good.

Thank you guys! I am very happy with the workmanship and attention to detail paid during the whole process. Mr Vijay & Mr. Vinod, you have a great team who work hard with utmost customer satisfaction. Hats Off!

Amount Paid:
  • Wash: Rs 390
  • PPF: Rs 1446 (Rs 465 per sft)
  • Taxes: Rs 121
  • Total: Rs 1957/-

Adding a few pictures of the car during the work:

Once I had reached the 3M store, pinged Getsurya for asking his status whether he is free or no! He was around Madhapur so he confirmed that he'll be at the store in 10 minutes. It was nice meeting you buddy and you have a rocking SUV I must say. I too shall buy it one day.

NOTE 1: Lost 3 pictures of the PPF after installation, will click them tomorrow morning and update it.
NOTE 2: Pictures taken from Samsung Galaxy S3 so please bear with the quality.

Cheers,
Anurag.

I must admit that I made a silly mistake when diagnosing. The sound was from the passenger side sun visor which was not in its seat.

Current Status: 7 days, 320kms and No rattles so far

So be careful from next time else you'll keep repairing something else and the problem will be somewhere else!

Current Status: 25 days and 2539 kms.

Fantastic job by 3M. Have been hearing a lot of praises about them by BHPians in Hyderabad and Bangalore but unfortunately we don't have these kind of outlets here hence we are seriously missing some quality TLC for our cars. These PPF film's will go a long way in keeping your car fresh and spotless for a long time.

O.T. : You took delivery of blue streak on my birthday. (19th December)

3M guys are fantastic with lovely workmanship and attention to detail.

Was sure to get the 3M treatment done for this car as I didn't want to repeat the sane mistake that I did with the Ritz. The keyhole and drivers door had decent amount of scratches due to tight parking space.

If WB doesn't have a 3M, why don't you put one?

OT: Belated Happy Birthday! Where is the party?

re: The story of a Blue Streak a.k.a Maruti Suzuki Swift ZDi (Torque Blue) - 30K kms up!

I took a calculated Risk for the first time.

I tried at what point the low fuel warning appears on the instrumentation console - The DTE (Distance to Empty) was showing a 40 kms left on the MID. Filled in fuel and checked the mileage got for that tank. It was 21.1 kmpl

Another thing I wanted to update is, I have bought myself a tyre pressure gauge for keeping a check on it regularly from Ebay.in for Rs 200.

Another UPDATE:

The car turns 1 month old today

Very happy with it and to be frank it is too addictive. Smooth and silent is what I have to say.

You should have procured a electronic tyre gauge. Have you come across any ?
I want to procure one.

And dont try that test again. Diesel engines don't like to run on the last drops of fuel. I always refill as soon as the needle falls below 25 %

I want these manual ones as I can calibrate the gauge at my work place. The digital ones I'm not sure of. So went ahead and got these.

I won't be trying that test anytime but it was just one time trial. I fill up once the needle touches the second last mark.
