In the above pics, is the steering cover stock or you bought an after-market one?
The steering cover was presented by my friend. He said that he bought it from amazon.com. Here is a photograph showing the steering with factory-fitted cover:

It looks good. IN the pic, it looks thicker. Do you feel the thickness while driving ? (I mean while maneuvering the car/ steering)

Thanks, TheIndian. Yes, the steering looks chunky with the extra cover. But, it doesn't affect the maneuvering and steering of car.

You guessed it right. Yes, it was my friend Ajay, who bought my erstwhile Linea. He surprised me with his present. He would not listen to my pleading to have my Purple Cheetah in the OE stock trim as far as possible and my request to him to use it in his Toyota Altis. He insisted that Purple Cheetah wear that steering cover.

Cheetah's Day Out: Chennai>Kanniyakumari>Chennai [1,390 km] Within 23 Hours!

It's time that my Purple Cheetah got domesticated. So, I took Purple Cheetah to Kanniyakumari and back. My wife and daughter accompanied. We left Chennai Royapettah home yesterday [5 March 2014] at 4:10 am, reached Trichy TVS BP pump at 8:30 am, where Purple Cheetah had tankful of diesel, visited Shri Sangeetha's, Trichy, breakfasted there, lunched at Hotel Ariyas, Satthur bypass, reached the deserted Kanniyakumari beach at 3:00 pm, walked around under the blazing sun, clicked some photographs, started the return journey at 3:35 pm, refuelled at the same Trichy TVS BP pump, dined at the same Shri Sangeetha's and reached back home at 2:30 am today [6 March 2014].

You are such an inspiration. This is exactly the type of life I have in mind. Probably next year I might get my hands on an XUV. Truly live young live free. Kudos.

re: Mahindra XUV500 W8 FWD: My Pet Purple Cheetah EDIT: Sold!

You should get rid of this cover, whether your friend likes it or not. Despite looking ugly, this is a serious safety hazard too. These type of steering covers are typically sold by beggars/sellers on traffic signals (not sure how it came from amazon-guess these days they sell just about anything).
Since these covers are simply slid on to steering and not tightly stiched, they tend to slip in case of an emergency manouvre of steering. The steering cover would move in your hand and the steering would not. These covers were responsible for quite a few accidents on our roads, and were widely reported in ACI and newspapers alike.

First Free Service Done At 4,969 km

Today, Purple Cheetah got the first free service done at India Garage, Guindy at 4,969 km. Reported at 9:25 am and got back at 2:00 pm. I received some discounts and complimentaries thanks to the free check-up camp that was being conducted. Very good job done by India Garage team.

re: Mahindra XUV500 W8 FWD: My Pet Purple Cheetah EDIT: Sold!

Dear Raviji,
Congratulations on your new acquisition and thanks for putting such pretty pictures out there. I plan to book the XUV 500 W8 FWD but unable to choose the color. I just love the Fortuner's white color but Mahindra just won't give that color. Do you or anyone in this forum ever questioned Mahindra on their insisting upon pearl/satin whites instead of the Pure white that is available on most cars. Personally I feel that the satin white looked fine on Scorpio but not on the XUV.
I have seen XUVs in all colors except Blue and Opulent Purple. Perhaps I will settle for Moondust Silver but all my previous cars already had that color and I was trying to avoid it this time around.

I didn't as I liked Opulent Purple [first choice] and Arctic Blue [second choice]. Satin White or pure white was not in my list.

Chennai>Kanchipuram>Bangalore

Purple Cheetah took us safely and comfortably to our Bangalore Basaveswara Nagar home at 6:30 pm today. We left our Chennai Royapettah home by 9:15 am, arrived at Kanchipuram at 10:45 am, attended a function, lunched there, left by 12:30 pm, had another break at Aryaas, Vellore and caught in a traffic jam for more than half-hour at Majestic area before reaching home.
