re: 2014 Honda City | My Diesel Rockstar Arrives | EDIT: 10 years completed and running strong

Wiper Upgrade to Bosch ClearAdvantage

After some brief research on Wipers, decided to upgrade the Wipers to the Frameless wipers from Bosch.

Bosch ClearAdvantage Wipers

The recommended size for the 2014 Honda City was 26 inch and 14 inch combination. However in the ClearAdvantage series, most shops where I enquired called out that only 13 inch is available.

Finally purchased the 26 inch and 13 Inch Bosch CA Combination from Nitin Automobiles. (Off JC Road.) Google Maps Location: URL

The 26 Inch one was marked at Rs.475/- and the smaller 13 inch one was marked at Rs.260/-. After some discount, I paid Rs.680/- for the pair in Bengaluru.

Here is a pictorial of the Wiper Set:

Wiper Installed on the Honda City

The installation was plug and play and straightforward. Will reserve my comments on durability etc. till I have completed couple of months of usage in the rain. As of now all I can say is that the wipers are low noise and clean the windshield well

I use the same ones in my City and they are really good. Much much better than the OEM ones. I paid 550 for the set.

What is a good place to buy Genuine Bosch ClearAdvantage wipers in Mumbai Suburbs? And anyone who has bought them in Mumbai could you please confirm the final price.

Thanks Avdhesh! I think that shop is very near my home, will check it out. How's the performance of these compared to regular wipers? Worth the extra cash? Also, did you manage to get the 14" wiper or have you fitted 13" like vsrivatsa? Cause 14" is a very common size I am surprised they are not available.

I think he put the exact requirement as mentioned in a sheet he had in front of him which had specs of multiple cars. I'm quite happy with the performance. Also, financially it's just a couple of hundred bucks so really doesn't matter

Update: I called Modern Motors and Atisha motors both have only syndicate wipers and don't have Bosch wipers.. Syndicate wipers cost: Rs 330 for 26/14" set.

The Amazon.in reviews for these (Syndicate Wipers) do not seem good - please validate: URL

Also I was able to confirm that Bosch does not make 14 inch Wiper Blades in the Clear Advantage Series - the brochure does not list it URL

Once again, I got these via someone travelling from the USA via Amazon.com. The link to the product on Amazon is here: URL
Hi, Can you confirm the product URL please? I see that the type selection defaults to H1 in the link you mentioned and I assume its not what we need to buy for the 2014 Honda City.

Prem.

You are correct, the link now points to H1 which is not correct.

It looks like the Low Beam Model for the Honda City [H11] is Out of Stock. Here is the link to the Dual Color High Beam Model [9005 HB3] : URL

Maybe wait a couple of days and it should be back in stock.

Thanks. But, is this not the right one? I see that its "in stock".
I believe, 9005 HB3 is meant for High beam. Did you change both low and high beam to get the similar looking effect?

Prem.

The socket type is correct [H11 is for low Beam] in the link you provided but that bulb is different from the one I bought - the blue colored one is Single colored (White only) whereas the yellow one is the Dual Beam Bulb.

Just cycle thru the different socket types and it shows up completely different bulbs now. There is some mismatch in the way Amazon has done the linking or I am guessing its deliberate as the same bulb possibly is not in stock. If you are fine with a single color bulb then it should be fine to proceed with the link that you have called out.

Does low beam refer to only parking lights or headlight On (position 2 also)? And high beam is only the blinding headlight? Which is the best bulb for headlight upgrade available in India without relay?

The Low Beam refers to Headlight On Position (Position 2) as you have called out. This Bulb takes the H11 Configuration in the City. The Fog Lamps also are of the same configuration and hence the Low Beam Bulbs and Fog Lamp bulbs are interchangeable.

When one switches on the High Beam in the City, the Low Beam Bulb remain to be switched on while additional 2 bulbs meant for the High Beam switch on in addition to the existing low beam bulbs. The High Beam bulbs are of the HB3-9005 socket configuration. So as described above, you will need 2 pairs of bulbs for a complete Headlight upgrade which includes low beam and high beam. Currently I have upgraded only the Low Beam - given that I am now satisfied with the performance of the Low Beam so far, I am planning to change the High Beam bulbs also later this month.

The LED bulbs come with their own fans and heat sinks for cooling and also the wattage of LED Bulbs are lower compared to stock Halogen Bulbs. As a result a swap to LED does not require any additional harness or relay and these are Plug and Play. The downside like I already called out is that there is no consistency in the behavior of LED bulbs in the Halogen Housing. Some bulbs do well and some don't - one has to get it right via trial and error.
