re: Sheel's Mahindra Scorpio S10 4WD. 1,10,000 kms completed.

Windshield has developed a crack on its own!

The Scorpio is now at 89,0xx kms. At 88,9xx kms, I was driving it and at speed of ~80 on a flat road, there was a sound and the windshield developed a crack from extreme right.

I am perplexed as to how can the windshield simply crack? There were no vehicles in sight, no debris / stone hit the windshield at that point, then how...? Anyways, will send the Scorpio to M&M ASC this week or the next post I confirm the windshield's availability. May get the 90,000 kms service as well.

EDIT - Adding the picture of the windshield crack.

Probably a stress fracture based on the age of the vehicle and its glass. I would suggest that you approach a specialist like Windshield Experts and replace the glass with what they have available. Fitting the windshield is a specialist job that ASS technicians may not perform on that regular a basis.

Agree, it has to be due to flex in the body. It might be worth checking the a pillar for rusting, by removing the beadings.

When removing the old windshield the beading is anyway going to be removed and checked from all 4 sides for rust. It'd be a good idea to replace the beading across the other parts of the Scorpio as well, they'd be stiff and cracked with age by now.

Yup there is a problem with the windshield of this vehicles as well the alarm system.
During my ownership of the Scorpio 4x4 and 98k kms driving my windshield cracked twice due to bad roads. The second time i just didn't get it changed. And ya the security alarm wire of the Scorpio is in front of the Radiator, which can be tampered with easily.

Not just that. The rear gate of the scorpio doesn't seem well connected to the central locking system. Try this, leave the rear gate unlocked and slightly ajar and the rest of the scorpio doors shut, engine off. The scorpio will auto lock but the rear gate can still be opened. Damn nuisance, which led to the theft of my previous Scorpio in 2018.

Lol i feel for you. You cant shut off the rear tailgate properly until u open a door to let the excess air out. Further the reason i sold my Scorpio back in 2019 was because of a failed theft attempt on the car. Thank god my friend's security guard saved the Scorpio then, and we saw the entire ordeal on camera how they got inside the car by opening the rear door quarter glass along with the beading. That just took my trust away from the vehicle, but as a last attempt got intouch with Mahindra to rectify this problem but they made mockery of the situation, which didn't settle well with me and I sold it off. I hope Mahindra has rectified this problem for the new owners

I test drove the 2018 scorpio with the new 140 ps engine. That did not have any such solution in it, just the hotted up mHawk engine and some minor other changes.

So I bought a used 2015 s10 as a replacement to my 2014 s10, and fitted a GPS lock to it. Even if a thief does steal it he won't get too far hopefully.

Is it so, then am sure its still as easy to steal as it was before. Good you got the gps lock this should be a standard fitment from the company considering its weak security system.

Coming back to the windshield Sheel Please check with the windshield distributor in your area, as am sure you will get the glass @Rs. 5000.00 plus fitting from them without the rain sensor as they install the old sensor itself using a double tape, and the dealership was charging me Rs. 9000.00 plus fitting on the S10 with a new rain sensor.

Could you please provide more info of this device. Any particular model that you recommend. I am at the moment waiting for my newly booked scorpio and looking forward to get something like this as Scorpio seems like favourites for thief's.

The windshield replacement and 90K service was done last year. The bill amount was some 21K which came to 14.6K post discount.

Kms done are shy of 91K, Scorpio's running has come down a bit.

re: Sheel's Mahindra Scorpio S10 4WD. 1,10,000 kms completed.

Something very irritating has happened and I want Mahindra to take note of.

My infotainment has conked off. On its own. When the local dealership sent it to Patna, the [very absurd] reason given was water has entered . If it is true, the only logical reason can be [which mechanics & other persons too confirm] is the moisture from the car's AC.

But how? Maybe because of this. Again, poor vendor selection, less stringent quality control norms and a vehicle sold in 2014 is having parts issue, for a very important component which lets you see your tire pressure (life saving) / activates wipers brilliantly [sensor is damn good] / allows you to see if any important call is coming in so that you can stop safely and take that call besides listening to music [& I do tons of ~400 kms+ non stop drives].

To add to the agony [and as per message received from Patna], the vendor does not make this infotainment anymore, hence parts are not available. Wow!

To further rub salt to the wound, the part costs a cool Rs. 79,192.

The Scorpio mechanically has given me no issues, even at 93,xxx kilometers, I can drive it anywhere with confidence, have done many marathon drives, all in all a very satisfied customer [with its few disadvantages which I am okay with] but, this aspect is turning a sweet experience to a sour one. I hope, Mahindra does something about it.

National Highway 31 is home

As is National Highway 57 [East - West corridor]

Get it from a scrapped car or from one of those car audio installers who have removed this and fitted a fancy head unit on someone’s car, and move on I would say.

I have tried and I have communicated this to NCR / Punjab, tried online spare parts, but to no avail.

I stay in a small town, so no one upgrades their music system / alloys etc. Have spoken with adjacent towns / cities too, but no one has got back yet. I could not find a solution, hence I am requesting Mahindra to look into this. Else, frankly, I do not have the time, energy or the inclination to pursue this.

Thanks.
