Re: My 2014 Grey Fiat Linea 1.3L MJD

On my way to work, I happened to rear-end a Swift Dezire. There was two wheeler which panic braked ahead of him, he had no choice but to hard break, and I was left with very less time in spite of my effort to avoid contact.

The rear bumper of the Dezire took a hit.

The Linea as expected absorbed the hit well and no damage to the paint as well.

Lucky you, or should I say awesome build quality of FIAT ? Looking that that image of DZire damage, it is quite unbelievable to learn that you have made a scratch less escape.

My Aspire ended up with a few faint scratches (like cat claw marks) on its clear coat when hit by a football. I had to spend considerable time with rubbing compound and a then coat of polish to get it spotless shiny again.

I should saw a combination of both. Lucky because I did not had to get into any argument in the middle of the road. In general (at least) I have not come across a FIAT that saw a considerable damage because of minor hits like these.

Pradeep.

Re: My 2014 Grey Fiat Linea 1.3L MJD

The stock good years continue to trouble me with punctures. I have spent close to Rs 800/- in the last 2 months just to get the punchers fixed.

The most recent one was last Sunday.

My 2 ton hydraulic jack in play.

Re: My 2014 Grey Fiat Linea 1.3L MJD

The 40,000KM Mark came up in about 2 years and 6 months.

The stock fabric seats continue to hold good, however with the dog now at home, its getting increasingly tough to maintain them .

Re: My 2014 Grey Fiat Linea 1.3L MJD

As the car hit 40,000KM mark, it was time to get the air filter cleaned. I continue to maintain a schedule of cleaning the air filter every 5000KM.
I have a BOSCH multi purpose tool kit at home and the kit comes with all kinds of attachments.
Here you can see the multiple sizes available and I use size 8, which is a perfect fit to unscrew the Air filter.

I started the work under the watchful eye of the service / works manager, and there was not a min where my work was left unsupervised, this gave me enough confidence that Iam doing things right .

Re: My 2014 Grey Fiat Linea 1.3L MJD

Timely Air-filter cleaning helps a lot.

I wish every car maker gives us fuss free access to the air-filter so that users can clean that by them self.

I take my Aspire to a nearby ASC for wash every 2/2.5k kms (that's like 2/3 months with my running). Simply to get my Air Filter cleaned (compress air blast). Wash is just an excuse to visit the ASC.

Clean Filters helps a lot with acceleration and FE. Engine feels fresh and tad more responsive post wash and filter clean.

How is it placed in your car. Usually the air filters are very easily accessible, it has been the case with my previous cars as well.

Cheers,
Pradeep.

What is the manufacturer recommended interval for air filter cleaning/ replacement? Is it 15000 kms?

Right, 15000KM / 1 year for replacement. I don't recall any recommendation on the interval for cleaning.

Cheers,
Pradeep.

Re: My 2014 Grey Fiat Linea 1.3L MJD

The puncture issues continue..

So the rear wheel gets another puncture. I wanted to run the stock tires till 50K, but seems like I better get them changed sooner.

Re: My 2014 Grey Fiat Linea 1.3L MJD

Fuel Efficiency Update

The car delivered an avg. FE of 16.4kmpl for a sample of 11000KM over a period of 9 months in 100% city driving conditions, definitely not bad, considering the size, weight, Tyre profile and other factors on the car .
More details below,

I make use of both Trip A and Trip B in different ways.

Trip A is reset after every refill and I keep a track of the FE. Trip B I only reset it after every 15000KM or 1 year service interval. This helps me in getting an overall view on the average and how the FE fared in the year.

However there is an issue on my car and Trip B somehow stops working after 13 / 14000KM and it gets stuck. I reported this both the times in the past however the reason I get from FASC is, its not designed to hold data for more than certain no of KM , which I know is stupid, but I let it go.

Distance Trip B.

Re: My 2014 Grey Fiat Linea 1.3L MJD

Uniqueness Enhanced .

This car is anyways an endangered species, Linea's are hard to find on roads a known fact (for obvious reasons). I added the below sticker to the car and Iam sure the uniqueness is now enhanced, as far as I know a similar colored Linea with the same sticker is definitely rare to find. So folks, its much easier to spot me now :-).

The dirty car after a drive through muddy roads in heavy rain, still looks beautiful in my eyes
