Hello Saj,

You should also check for replacement. I haven't visited FASC yet, however I have received a message from AV Motors that there is a family event planned this weekend, need to check if I can attend.

Also there is a new ECU update released for the 2014 and beyond manufactured cars and I heard from some folks who got this update done that they see marginal increase in FE and the almost silent MJD, has further quietened. Will get this update done on my car as well as soon as possible.

Cheers,
Pradeep.

I didn't find any diff in FE, but engine is more silent and more importantly the driveability has improved. Mine had the jerking issue in 3rd gear and that was resolved with this update. But driveability improved by a huge margin!

Yes H14,

That update was from last year and many of us got it on our cars (Post 57, Page 4 in this thread has the details of the previous update), however this is a different one Iam talking about and just out like a week or two back.
I will post the my feedback after I get the ECU flashed at FASC.

cheers,
pradeep.

PS : Just noticed that I posted the information on the ECU update on 15 July 2015, exactly an year back, coincidence .

Ah understand! Apparently there seems to be lots of confusions on this recent map update. One FASS told me that this recent update is for selected VIN numbers and mine is not in the list. Maybe if I pursue them I can get that done. Will wait for your feedback then!

Re: My 2014 Grey Fiat Linea 1.3L MJD

On a lazy Saturday, with nothing much to do we have decided to go on a drive after breakfast. The decision was instantaneous and it was almost 930AM by the time we made up our minds. We first got out of the house and got the car fueled and the destination was decided when we were waiting in the queue to get the air checked.

Destination : Mallelatheertham
Distance : Approx 200 km.

My 2014 Grey Fiat Linea 1.3L MJD-road3.jpg

It was a little after 10AM by the time we started our short journey, the roads were awesome with 3 small deviations after Dindi due to ongoing construction work related to 2 bridges.

Entry to the Ghat

We reached the the check post around 12:45 PM and had lunch at Chenchulakshmi restuarant (i assume this run by the Govt). The food was decent & the place is clean. They charged Rs 70/- for plate meals.

After lunch we headed towards the waterfall. The drive through the ghats was amazing. The AC was turned off, the windows were rolled down, we drove at leisure sticking to speeds of 25-30 kmph enjoying the fresh air and calmness around.

There is no proper road for the last 8KM of to the destination, it was a mud trail and I did not dare to drive with windows rolled down on this stretch.

There was no water at the falls as we expected, but nevertheless the place was very calm and soothing.

Overall a day well spent. One good thing about drives is we get a lot of family time as everyone are off the gadgets and we can talk about many other better things , and have fun together.

And to answer the most sorted out question that we are obsessed with, below is the number delivered after a leisure drive on the ghats and some good triple digit speeds on the rest of the roads.

The next day was Sunday and the car definitely deserved some pampering after the slushy / dusty ride the previous day.

I checked with KHT today. The update is for some selected VINs .
Like you said, I would like to persuade them to get that update for my car too if does not have any other implications

Re: My 2014 Grey Fiat Linea 1.3L MJD

General Update

The car has crossed 25,000 KM and I can definitely confirm that from that last 2-3k km the engine has become extremely smooth and the already silent MJD has further calmed down. You can literally feel the smoothness of the engine after the optimum temperature is achieved, the refinement is very evident both inside and outside the cabin. The car does make me happy with every drive.

Picture of the Odo taken this morning.

My 2014 Grey Fiat Linea 1.3L MJD-25555.jpg

My Linea went to AV Motors last weekend (10 Sep 2016) for the regular wheel alignment and rotation (5000km interval). I was at AV by 915 AM and as usual all the staff was in their daily huddle meet. In the next 10 min an SA walked to me and started preparing the job card.

List of things added to the job card from my side

1) Wheel Alignment and rotation.
2) ECU Update. (Later it was found out that my car already has the latest version and doesn't need any further update)
3) The number plate on the front had a loose rivet and was slightly dangling.
4) Horn - As reported in a few posts earlier, one of the horn doesn't work properly in rains.

Things proactively fixed by AV motors

1) Rear left door handle which was slightly loose (I did not even notice this)
2) One of the tyre had a faulty valve pin (this was identified by the technician during wheel rotation and the pin was replaced)

Total Amount paid : Rs 550/- (WA and rotation)

The car was pulled into the drive way and a through under body check was done, I was there to ensure that everything was fine. Thanks to the heavy metal full engine guard, some nasty hits on the pot hole ridden roads of the city were all absorbed and no damage to any vital engine parts.

Wheel Alignment in progress.

Horn being tested.

My 2014 Grey Fiat Linea 1.3L MJD-horn-bad.jpg

It was confirmed after some testing that one of the horn was not working as expected and the faulty one was replaced without any hassel. Incase anyone wants to know what horn we have in our cars, its Hella.

Bad Horn.

Engine bay neatly dressed.

The car was all ready by 1 PM. AV Motors had their Ganesh Visarjan that evening and they have organized lunch for all staff at the service center. I too was requested to join and I was more than happy to spend some time with the staff for Lunch. The food was delicious .

Few pictures at Lunch.

A little after 2 PM I departed from the service center and yet again they have delivered a very good experience for me. They did take time and address the smaller issues as like the number plate, door handle and the valve pin. Delighted .

My 2014 Grey Fiat Linea 1.3L MJD-av-bye-1.jpg

I also happened to meet fellow BHP'ians on the recent drive meet to Kurnool. I wasn't able to join them for a drive but I went to see them off. Here is a pic at the Hyderabad meeting point, Iam the one in the blue checks shirt, blue jeans (right in the middle of the two cars and the group) and yes my dear Linea in the background (Ecosport rules, Hyd traveler, deepv and Manas270 in the foreground). Sifu's Vento is in the picture as well.

Cheers,
Pradeep.

Its been a while I updated the thread.

I have observed two issues on my car.

1) When I change the song on from the steering controls, it changes the source and switches to radio and it's not because I am pressing the source button. This happens 7 out of 10 times.

2) I checked the engine oil levels and it's at mid point of the dipstick indicator.
Odo is very close to 28k, so my MJD too is drinking oil.

When at 15k I got the car serviced the SC filled the oil slightly above the top indicator of the dipstick indicator, so considering that I guess the oil consumed may be around 500ml or something around just my guess.
However I have not observed any excessive black smoke, no white smoke, no drop in pickup or drop in FE.

Cheers,
Pradeep.

Re: My 2014 Grey Fiat Linea 1.3L MJD

The third Free service is nearing and the odo is right now at 29,300KM. Iam planning to take the car to FASC on 12 Dec 2016.
Below are the list of issues that I have been noting down to get them addressed in my visit scheduled in a couple of weeks.
  • Steering Control Source button (as reported above)
  • Check battery - I started getting air bag / ABS failure messages recently.
  • Slight squeak sound from the rear seat when riding in extremely horrible roads.
My car would be completing 2 years only end of Feb 2017 and hence during this visit I plan to get only the regular service done. The plan to get all fluid change done as per the 2 year schedule would be planned again in Feb 2017. This way I will not advance the 2 year schedule, I will not feel the pinch on the pocket in one go, I will get to visit the FASC one more time in a space of 2-3 months and can get any minor issues surfacing addressed.

In the meanwhile, I have exchanged some gift points (from my organization) to get these useful things.

1) Hydraulic Jack
2) Electric Air Pump ( this is powered by the car power socket)
3) Puncher repair kit.

A few pics below, I received the items last evening.

You will have to do the 3rd Servicing at 30K Kms or within 2 years(whichever comes earlier). Based on your current ODO, I think it would be better to do the complete servicing before hitting the 30K Kms than waiting till Feb 2017.

Odo is very close to 28k, so my MJD too is drinking oil.
Observed both of these issues on my Punto Evo as well.

The first one happens randomly. Maybe 1 out of10 times. This started to occur only recently. However, it's not what I'm worried about. It's the second one that got my attention first.

Second service was done @10K and since then I have driven 8800 Kms in 4 months. All long highway drives. I had observed the midpoint reach somewhere around 15k and after a long drive of 2500 kms and 500 Kms driving in the city, the oil was just above the end mark of the dipstick. This got me worried. No smoke. No leakage. Nothing weird.

Went to AV motors and got it checked. They confirmed that there is no leakage. However, they couldn't explain the cause of this. Got it topped up. Now, I'm closely watching the stick. Been on a 500 Km drive. No drop in the level.

I'd appreciate if you let me know their analysis when you get it checked in the next service.

Regards,
Ryu

Hello Ryun,

I have explored further on this and nothing to worry in this aspect. Small levels of engine oil consumption is expected and this is captured in the manual as well. As long as the levels stay between Max and Min we are good, but as rightly pointed out by you it's good to check regularly which I too do.

@ Arun - I think I did not express my intention properly, let me write in detail with a few pictures shortly 🙂.

Regards,
Pradeep.
