I use the micro hybrid feature all the time and find it very convenient/useful. Note that between any two auto-stop of engine, you need to reach a speed of 10 kmph. So, when I reach the parking lot, it does auto off, but I again crank the engine and leave it in neutral itself for about 30 seconds to one minute before turning off the engine completely. Since the car wouldn't have travelled after cranking the engine, the auto-stop feature will not kick in and the engine will be on, even in neutral gear.

But that is hassle of remembering to do it every time and following it. Got to develop habit but shouldn't this be simpler? Like if the engine is goes OFF due to micro-hybrid kicking in, opening the door or pushing stop button one more time should gracefully switch off everything including auto cool off engine if needed?

Seems like this Micro-hybrid and Diesel engines idling is in itself a large topic that experts need to detail out for the interest of us common users

One of the dislikes I had about new age XUV is - lack of front number plate housing from old gen. Thanks to J.Ravi and DevilWearsPrada (www.canvassing.in), I bought the frames and plain plates as well. With a little effort to seal the frames with fevi-quick drop so no-one can tamper/ break open, sticking the frames properly with double sided tape beneath in addition of screws, in 30 minutes of time the DIY was over!

Over the weekend, I had an impromptu trip to my hometown in Maharashtra. It was 1350+ Kms trip. As usual, the cheetah loves to stretch it's legs on the highway and NH4 is our favourite so far!

On 26th Nov, Cheetah shall complete 5 months with us and 12K Kms by now is quickest counting I have ever seen on any of my cars! And completely niggle free so far *touchwood*

No doubt the XUV is meant for the highways, Just so easy to drive, Getting my car back today, And mostly it will be completely niggle free now, Can you also let me know how should i check the current infotainment system software version? And also whats yours?

Did not try it on the new age xuv, Will do it tonight and post mine aswell, according to my SA there was another new update.

Thanks, Its the same for both of us. Lets hope this version is stable enough to not give us any hang up's or bugs.

There are a few minor issues with it which are unresolved from many months -
- Resuming USB playlist upon successive start/ stop
- Bluetooth Noise on really long calls
- Maps auto-switching the voices (I choose female, it changes to male )

But there are no issues whatsoever that are grave like hanging, restarting etc. Pretty stable as compared to what everyone else has faced before this update.

I have faced just the bluetooth noise issue out of the 3 you mentioned and which was sorted after the first service itself, Did not face it after that.

I wonder how can it change itself from a female to male's voice, haha.

I always keep it to a males voice, Female one makes me feel as if my sister or my girlfriend is giving me directions

The first row passenger is fixed. It's always got to be my daughter until junior grows up and can sit himself on second row. For now he needs company on the middle row. And my daughter does not even care about any electronics in the car!

Some Retrospection on the occasion of completing 5months with orange cheetah.

Looking at the AT launch of XUV5OO, I was wondering if it would have been a good decision to wait. After all it's just 5 months since I bought this car. There have been two important things I did consider and rejected but at times I am asked this question.

1. AWD - Am I missing the AWD feature?
For the past 12K+ Kms and 5 months, not even once I needed AWD support or had a nail-biting situation. But I am considering seriously doing Leh or similar circuit sooner than later. Reading J.Ravi's experience on those gravel roads, I feel may be I should have considered AWD. But then again only time will tell if this is really a showstopper. Because many have done Leh with FWD XUV5OO already. So why not me?

2. AT?
My running so far has been 95% on highways and 5% inside city. Although I use car for home-work commute its not a big deal to hold onto the clutch/brake for a mere 25-30 mins drive (with traffic, else distance is only 6 Kms!).

So my two cents as advice to people who are looking to buy XUV5OO - if your budget allows, you should go for AWD. I wouldn't confidently say so for AT unless you do a lot of city drive too.

There have been many features in the car that I haven't used much. For example - Lounge lighting, Middle Row and Rear Row power sockets, So called Laptop storage in the glove box, reading lights on middle row, last row AC, Hill Descent Control, BlueSense App (blame it to iPhone app being unstable I use). I have also noticed that on highways too, I like to keep driving myself without use of Cruise Control. I have used it few times and it's a great support when the leg starts paining on non-stop drives, but mostly stays unused. So XUV even though is loaded with so many gizmos and electronics, not everything is put to full use so far in my case.

And then there are things that are hyper-used! Sunroof and Rear hatch door is I think the most frequently used thing other than driver side door Similar to these there are other things that are used extensively so far - Navigation/ Infotainment, Bluetooth Phone, Driver Seat adjustment controls, rear view parking camera, Rain Sensing Wipers, Automatic Headlights.

The journey so far has been very fulfilling. It's evident in my excitement of keeping this thread updated as well as those miles munched so far! Every morning I look at the car and feel good about getting into it to drive! Never scared of any niggles. It's different thing that car has not faced any major niggles worth mentioning *touchwood*.

And this is all great satisfaction in the ownership so far.

Dear Avinash, feels so good to see your beautiful Orange Cheetah ruling the roads. Your sense of pride in ownership is quite infectious. I have greatly admired how you have overcome all the challenges that you have faced recently. I am sure you will continue to add many more miles of wonderful experiences. Though I did give the XUV 500 the miss (had seriously thought about it) and bought the GLA, I am sure one of these days I will own one. Till then I'll keep getting inspired by your experiences and keep the fire of desire burning
