Thats normal, It comes for me too, Even used to come in my previous XUV, Its because of the friction between the disk and the pads, This is what i was told at the mahindra service centre.

Looks like your enjoying the beast to the fullest

By the way, there is another impromptu trip coming up. We are going to Bandipur tomorrow for couple of nights. XUV is taking us places
Even I am facing the same thing Avinash, hope you remember I had asked the same question on Whatsapp.

PS: I am catching up with you Avinash, currently my ODO is at 15200

Thanks for the clarification Tanveer I was more worried as to how can the brake pads worn out so soon.

You both are invited to Rajkot this weekend. We 3 can drive back together .

I assure you both at least 3600 kms of run by the time you are back home.

Even the Cheetah that prefers to run fast would love to settle at a steady pace and breath easy and deliver more on this run.

Of course Parag! Occasional sprints are good but marathon horses are exceptional.

We couldn't drive longer when I had SX4 but for sure we will do some long drives together soon. Having missed the MD and AIM from HVK, I am hoping I can catch up this year's MD in July!

By the way, I have procured the fuse tap cables and extra 12v socket. An additional power source for dashcam is happening soon

Thanks for the invite Parag. But I will be travelling to Shivamogga tomorrow morning as we are blessed with a baby boy last week and I have to be there for next 2 weekends

My pleasure, Brake pads should easily last till 30k.

Also anyone crossed 17k yet? I have already taken the 3rd service appointment in the first week of feb.

Hi Avinash, the screeching sound is invariably from the brakes. I used to have similar problems in my Civic. A little bit of cleaning and the sound will normally go away. Since you have been on the road and on long drives, the brakes tend to pick up dust and dirt along. Post Bandipur, you should get a quick brake service done and hopefully it should be ok.

re: Ownership tales of Orange Cheetah, my 2015 Mahindra XUV5OO W10 FWD. EDIT: Sold after 150,000 km

On Friday morning we left Bangalore around 8am and navigating through messed up roads of Bangalore-Mysore stretch, reached Bandipur by noon. We stayed at Country Club Resort. We took a bus safari on Friday evening and jeep Safari on Saturday morning. It was quick fun but neither the resort nor the safari's were enticing to continue our stay for few more days. So on Saturday non we headed back to home. On the way back, took pit stop at Ranganathitu Bird Sanctuary. It was fun the entire trip.

During Safari we could not spot any predators but only local abundance of Deers, Peacocks, Fowls and other birds! As usual on the Bandipur road if we drive down till Ooty turnoff, we can spot few elephants without a safari too!

Good food, mediocre fun and a lot of free time to relax - that was the highlight of the trip. Here are some pictures taken on the the trip -

re: Ownership tales of Orange Cheetah, my 2015 Mahindra XUV5OO W10 FWD. EDIT: Sold after 150,000 km

And I guess I have hit a real niggle in the car

- The rear hatch door is making some rattle noise. Blame it to my driving without patience on the Mysore road and then between Nanjangud - Gundlupet stretch or whatever!
- The Clutch play is not the same as it used to be before. Every time I press the clutch the spring in the footwell makes a small "krrr" sound. The same happens when I depress it. This seems to be something recently happening as I don't remember it hearing before. I observed the clutch by checking in the foot well under bright light, it does not feel anything wrong. But that noise is something I need to investigate and fix.

I think I am going to take the car to service center sometime this week to clean the brakes, fix the rear hatch door rattle and investigate the clutch noise.

Apart from this, there is absolutely fun in the car. The Orange cheetah now shows 16500 Kms on the ODO and I am as excited to get in to it as I was on day 1.

We have tamed the Orange Cheetah very well though -

Even I have been facing rattling noise in the rear hatch door and it is very bad sometimes. It has become more prominent after the drive to Horsley hills with very bad stretches and some off-roading. Due to busy schedule I am not able to take the car to service center which I will be doing very soon. Please keep me updated if you get to visit before me.

Also planning to get the HID's by month end

Thanks bud.

You decide on the vendor and package. And whatever is the cost, just double up! I will pay half for upgrading eyes of my Cheetah Honestly if someone like you is taking pain of choosing the accessories, fitting, I wouldn't mind going with you closing my eyes! Anything around 5000K light upgrade would be nice. First priority is to upgrade the bulbs with HID for low beam/ projector. And if cost is not too high, do the same with fog lamps too. That way, In city I can use just fog lamps and light guides (looks cool) and on highway, I can fire up the road at my will!

I'll keep the updates and upgrades noted down so I can follow up on my XUV 5OO when it comes by year end.

Thanks to all the reviews here, have decided to go ahead with W10 FWD as a replacement for my Swift ZDi. SCross 1.6L Alpha has lost the battle with XUV 5OO W10 winning my heart. AWD isn't the need as I wouldn't take it off-road anyway.

I am looking hard to get a solution for the IRVM rather than Manual D/N IRVM.

XUV will never let you down on the driving fun part. Ease of driving in city combined with highway cruise ability and acres of space inside the car are sufficient to ignore any of the minor irritants associated with the beast. Congratulations on your decision and I hope you will keep W10 as the preferred option till year end
