Tonight I will go home to take good night's sleep but not Cheetah
If both the pads are being changed I am sure the service cost would cross 20K Avinash. I got my car serviced on Saturday and I paid a bill amount of 15,589/- after discount.

Things done on my car,
1. Rear brake pad changed - 4800/- approx
2. AC Filter, Fuel Filter, Engine Oil changed - 4000/- approx
3. 4th Paid Service Charges - 3000/- approx
4. Other labors and consumables.

Will post the detailed bill on my thread tonight.

PS: Are you sure you will get sleep tonight with Cheetah at the service center

May be! I heard SA saying the brake-pad set costs Rs 4000. There is a Rs 100 odd difference for the set used for rear and front for whatever reason. So that would be around 8K, fluid changes would be around 3K, Labour 3K. So you are right that it would be in the range of 15K for sure. The estimate SMS I received without rear brake pads was Rs. 8987.43 + taxes.

Good that you pointed out - I will clarify details once again!

Yeah. Knowing this stay is not for any wrong reasons but logical, I would be more excited to catch up with Orange Cheetah tomorrow

Next is may be - Audio upgrade soon

40,000 Kms Service Update:

Of all the 100 things to be done, only few will be done - thats the order of the M&M service stations nowadays. Even after multiple instructions, follow up the shabby work has continued. I know this is not something to worry about mechanical but as a owner and passionate driver, I would like to see my car clean, properly taken care of!

See this image below -
Ownership tales of Orange Cheetah, my 2015 Mahindra XUV5OO W10 FWD. EDIT: Sold after 150,000 km-silverstripgone.jpg

The ever troubling silver line from the rear quarter panel glass was asked to be removed - they simply peeled it off and left things as is. If this was all I needed to do, I could have done abetter job of it. Now the car looks ugly at both the sides at this place :(

To add to the woes, the so called Purple Club Spa treatment is big joke of the day! Its just the exaggerated car wash where one unskilled worker will step inside the car and wipe clean the seats in addition to vacuum and body wash.

And throwing all estimate to wind, the final bill is - whopping Rs 21,753! Even if I ignore the small Rs 100- Rs. 200 kind of things, this bill is still very high!

Ownership tales of Orange Cheetah, my 2015 Mahindra XUV5OO W10 FWD. EDIT: Sold after 150,000 km-40kkmsservicebill.jpg

Although I see other issues taken care of (such as rattles and light adjustment), the work about car wash and silver line strip makes me think if these guys are really serious about servicing? Every time I service the car, I stay in the garage and pay close attention to work. This time me being away, did they take things for granted and did average job?

If this is the attitude of M&M dealers and focus on work the days aren't far from M&M going back to Tata debacle days while Tata continues to grow! I am disappointed with this service experience and for sure I will register this feedback with tele-caller who will follow up with me on this. I have not yet informed the service general manager friend about this yet.

I have to now tae the car sometime soon to 3M and get thoroughly cleaned, waxed and polished. Remove all the residue from silver strip left over and apply fresh black sticker on the C pillars. But before that, another long trip is due - that will take this disappointment off my head and bring some cheer for sure!

Exactly my thoughts Avinash. Washing has been one of the weakest part in the M&M service and even if you give the feedback on this, the service center would call you and clean the car again. Actually this time i purposefully left a small flower petal in the top glovebox, and my hunch became true after I saw the petal still there after I got the car from service. And I see that the bill has come out as I estimated.

Above all they charge 500/- for washing and actually with another couple of hundreds more 3M will do a great job on that.

Did you not ask the SA while taking delivery on this silver lining thing?

Yes, I did ask him. He said the black film on the C pillar is on parts catalogue. Need to order it separately. It will take two days. So either I will have to go to there again after 2-3 days or he can consider sending someone to my office and get it fixed.

I doubt if that will work well. I was expecting them to use some sort of cleaner/ paint thinner or whatever it is called to remove the left over glue from the glass panel base, apply a fresh black sticker and do a proper job. Reapplying the silver strip is tried for at least last 3 times and I don't want to go that route again. Instead I prefer to take that thing off, just apply black film to cover the exposed paint on C pillar base and make it look all shiny. The latest manufactured XUVs anyway don't come with this strip for precisely the same reason - they come off pretty frequently!

Another wild idea running in my mind is to consider applying gloss black film and make dual colour - on roof, all pillars. Just thinking how it may look like

Just realised that I overshot PUC check by a day. So immediately rushed to usual pollution check test and got it done today. Thanks to GasCubby app that threw the reminder 😜

Note that vehicle was driven only 4 kms before it went for test. The values seems to be much lower than the norm prescribed on the certificate in bottom right portion. May be this is because the regulation is pretty old while car engine falls in Bharat Stage 4 norms. Whatsoever, glad things are just fine.

Ciao until next update!

re: Ownership tales of Orange Cheetah, my 2015 Mahindra XUV5OO W10 FWD. EDIT: Sold after 150,000 km

Home run for Xmas
For a family function, we headed home over the weekend of 24th Dec. A lot of traffic on the road and clogged Toll Booths was painful for the travel. The return was bliss.

While in Goa, we went on the other side of the crowded beaches from panjim - to Reis Magos fort and enjoyed serene beach in full privacy! Same was the case on our return journey - we decided to take longer detour to Murudeshwar Temple. The temple was super crowded with a lot of dirt and waste scattered in the surrounding area. We hence went to a beach near by to Bengre Village - it was near the RNS Golf Resort. The find was from Google Maps! Enjoyed the time in water and return peaceful to home by late night via Kumta - Sirsi - Haveri route.

Here are some pictures:

From the Reis Magos Fort road and adjoining beach -

So finally got rid of visible battle scars -

The dent was bad - it could not have been just repaired by using dent puller. Had to go through regular tinkering, panel paint. Specifically because the dent was on the curvy portion of hatch door, this was needed. No structural issues but can't live with deformed exteriors!

The work in progress pictures -

This was done at Sai Colorium, JP Nagar. Now cheetah is back to its original form without physical scars on body. Mind will keep the note forever though.

The PUC states that it is valid for one year for BS-IV vehicles.

Why is the validity on the Cheetah's PUC only six months?

I am not sure if it is valid for one year for any vehicle. For my erstwhile SX4 it was 6 months only. Moreover the PUC certificate (snap few pages earlier) clearly states that it is valid for 6 months. I doubt if there is anything specific to XUV or any vehicles or BSIV cars. AFAIK, the PUCs are required to renew every six months.

I was referring to the note at the bottom right corner of the PUC snap that you had attached. It says BSIV vehicles' puc is valid for one year ; hence the curiosity.

Avinash - read the last line at the bottom of the certificate. You should have got an SMS from AD-KAETST which mentions the expiration date. I recently got emission test done and it's valid for 1 year.

Do ensure that you save the sms as BTP might just start another scam and ask you to pay because you don't have the sms

The roof wrap looks good! Do share details of where you got it done what was the cost. Also more details about elephant corridor please.
