Re: BMW 530d M-Sport (F10) : My pre-worshipped beast

Speed is always relative.

When we got the Maruti 800, the Padmini suddenly became slow. When I got the Esteem, the 800 / Zen / 118NE felt sluggish. After I got the City Vtec, the 65 BHP Esteem was a dog. I had the M5 last week and took it to Lonavla (link to post). On Sunday evening, I drove the 530d to Lokhandwala for a dinner. The highway was empty and when I gunned the 530d, it felt like a Honda City . After experiencing the M5's 600 horses & 750 Nm, the 530d's 258 BHP & 560 Nm just didn't feel enough. On the way back home, I was actually driving it like a damn Alto 0.8L...looking for that extra punch.

What to do?

Solution = 1 evening, I took out the WagonR AMT for a test. The next night, I took my Jeep for a long drive.

Now, the 530d feels like a 530d again . All is well in the world.

Now that's a nice plan .

I'll buy the Bajaj Qute for office commutes. After driving those 11 horses to offices every day, I can feel like a 530D with my 90 horses on weekends.

On a very serious note - I can very much relate to this when it comes to bikes. After spending time with the Ather scooter, getting back on my bike felt like a revelation, even though if I use it continuously for a couple of months - the itch to upgrade starts.

Very true, same holds good for Comfort. So, when I start feeling itch to upgrade my 7 due to lack of rear seat comfort I use co-workers Ertiga or Etios for a while.

Solution 2: Remap

Solution 3: Remap + Downpipe

Solution 4: You know things better than anyone else now to get more horses from your car

You bet . Once my 6-year warranty is over, we'll make her a 300-BHP sedan.

Re: BMW 530d M-Sport (F10) : My pre-worshipped beast

Since so many BMW enthusiasts follow this thread, posting this info here. Hope this is useful.
Some things which were new to me:

1) Gearbox shift speed is unaffected by drive modes.
2) Manual shifting is faster than D/S mode using the joystick, which in itself is faster than D mode.

Time for her bi-annual detailing session. Got it done from Kamyo.

Looks nice and refreshed. What products do you use for detailing?

The dedication of the applicator and his/her training contributes 50% in these detailing jobs though the product quality definitely and does matter.

I have seen lot of 3M porched pack bottles with water dilution to save money by locals.

Re: BMW 530d M-Sport (F10) : My pre-worshipped beast

The interiors look quite fresh after the treatment. Really wanna know what they used to clean the seats as mine is also a beige interior. I've tried Chemical Guys leather cleaner and conditioner but it barely lifts off any grime and makes the seats too slippery for comfort. Post that tried Sonax Interior cleaner. Its a brilliant brilliant product for trims and sills, but same story with the seats. The interior is a nightmare after the car goes for service.

I have a 320D with 16" alloys, one of which has a slight bend that causes a little bit of steering vibrations post 90-100kmph. No Air loss is observed. Both the service centers of BMW Navnit Motors in Bangalore refuse to fix it. It's strange that dealers have different policies in different cities. I'll probably have to get it fixed from outside. Any pointers in Bangalore for reliable places to get this done will be appreciated.

Also read that bent alloys are covered under Insurance too (Tanveer got them replaced), but my BMW SA said that only accidental cases are approved where the tyre is damaged as well. The only recommended solution of paying 35-40K per damaged wheel out of pocket at BMW service centers is not very helpful.

Hello,
please check with A1 Car Care Center, Jaya Nagar East, Jayanagar, Bengaluru.
I once got 2 bent alloys exchanged with new ones for a reasonable price from them.
