Maybe i should just replace all the glow plugs too. Since my car is appx 10years old now?
10 years is a lot of life for glow plugs. Replace them and that should sort out the issue. Even ECU is giving same error.

Re: BMW 530d M-Sport (F10) : My pre-worshipped beast

I am looking at a 2016 F10 530d, and sent her in for BMW 360 inspection yesterday and here are the remarks:

1. Engine mounting leakage: SA says no immediate action required
2. Control arm bushes crack: SA said no immediate action required
3. A/c blower housing needs replacement: Cheap part
4. 1 Alloy bend

the car looks and drives well maintained. I sent her in for a 360 just for my own peace of mind. And the issues that have come out of it don't seem too serious. Apart from the control arms the rest of the parts are "fairly" inexpensive.

Should I be investigating further? Anything else I should be looking at before closing?

On a 4 year old car, there are bound to be some issues here & there. As long as it is nothing major (e.g. engine / gearbox trouble), the car doesn't have flood damage, hasn't suffered a big accident and not a lemon (long list of warranty replacements), go for it.

You haven't shared the km, but I personally wouldn't buy a used car with over 40,000 - 50,000 km.

It has 28k on the odo. All service history maintained.

Another thing I wanted to ask was the situation with the tires. The car is running on run flats and the owner recently replaced the rears but the fronts are running out, probably another 2000 kms on them. Now I dont want to continue with RFTs and wanted to go for PS4s. Should I simply replace the fronts with PS4s and continue running RFTs at the rear? Its a staggered setup so I wanted to know what would be the ideal setup?

That's very low running .

You could, but different brands on the front / rear doesn't suit a luxury car. What you said is doable, but what I'd suggest is change all 4. Look up my earlier tyre posts on this thread for full details on brands & challenges. Going full tubeless will give you noticeably improved ride & handling.

I definitely agree and wouldn't normally do that. But I also dont want to throw away 40k worth of tires. I'm assuming 275/40 18s must cost 20k each.

Also, any idea whereabouts would I find your post on tires? this thread is 86 pages..

I could, but I also believe in the saying "feed a man fish and you fed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish and you fed him for life" .

Use advanced search on this thread and search for "tyres" in the key word & GTO in the "search by username" field. You'll find what you're looking for. You could also try other keywords like "runflat" or "runflats".

Re: BMW 530d M-Sport (F10) : My pre-worshipped beast

Hi GTO,

I was looking at a 530D June 2014 done 28,500 kms belonging to a 2nd owner. Attaching some pictures. What would be a fair price to pay assuming no faults in the vehicle. Thanks in anticipation

Re: BMW 530d M-Sport (F10) : My pre-worshipped beast

Newbie mistakes happen to all of us While driving, I noticed the HUD appearing very dim - like 10% of its normal brightness level. Played with the settings for 10 minutes and went through the entire iDrive, but nope, all looked okay. Made a mental note to get it fixed at the next service visit.

Later realised I was wearing my polarised sunglasses . Saw HUD without them and all is well!

Would guess anywhere between 20 - 24 lakhs?

I am always a used car market lover. Though my family prefers 1st hand cars for sentimental values and warranty. I don't. I see that as an opportunity to take care of that vehicle when it comes to me and get more for less.

After Jetta, I always see the Big 3 as an upgrade. Personal choise is always a BMW. 3/5 I do not know, budget decides that when or if I am ready.

On the contarary, as a Bengalurian I always Envy Mumbai and Delhi, NCR prices.

2013 520D - 26L

2012 525D 18L

2010 525D 18.5L

2016 320D 28L

The E90 here 2012 320 D 1.2L Kms 14L

Look at these - Very illogical and unjustifiable prices by these dealers here.

Good priced ones are hard to find.

And with such crazy priced cars, by the time you think or wait for negotiation some other guy who has no idea of bargaining or cars readily picks it up for extra load of $.

At least if it is priced lesser we could use the same money for unexpected eye watering repairs and maintenance OR shell out more (than Mumbai, Delhi folks )and get a less run car.

So if you wait, you lose the car. You do not want to wait, you have to pay more

Re: BMW 530d M-Sport (F10) : My pre-worshipped beast

2nd issue with the car (1st was the water leakage years ago). Saw these error messages after an outing and turns out, the "wheel speed sensor" is busted. Part cost is under 10k. Car drives just fine, but better to be cautious & not push it. Going in for replacement this weekend.

This sensor failure is a real pain with BMW. I have had 3 sensor failures to date fortunately all within warranty (two in 2020 alone). My warranty / BSI combo expired last week so I’m really hoping this is not a recurring menace.

Re: BMW 530d M-Sport (F10) : My pre-worshipped beast

Test drove a 530d 2013 model recently. Was Surprised seeing the soft close option for the doors on it. Till now i didn't know that the soft close option was available on the 530d's. That too on the 2013 model. It had a Msport steering as well ,fitted from the company itself. Would like to know how much a new original Msport Steering come's for and also has anyone done the same here (swapping to the original M5 steering). Really Loved the feel it gave while driving it with the M5 Steering wheel.

Re: BMW 530d M-Sport (F10) : My pre-worshipped beast

Uh oh, it appears this is going to be "one of those" problems. Maverick5490 test-drove the car himself twice (thanks a ton, bud!) as did Akshay1234 (thank you), and there was no error warning at all. The brakes are working perfectly fine & Maverick + me hope that the error doesn't come up again . I sure hope it was due to less usage & battery drain (thanks to all the media cars I'm test-driving) or hot brakes (it came up once after hard acceleration + braking).

Net net, the car is coming back without any work done at all.

I am sure they enjoy driving your car whatever excuse they get to do so . Was the car scanned for error codes at the service centre?
