Re: My Brown Little Hippo: Maruti S-Cross DDiS 200 Alpha

hi Sandygordon - had a quick question on the RPM range for Scross prefacelift 1.3. At what rpm do you hit 120 kmh in stock Scross 1.3.? One of the Nexa folks was suggesting that there is a change in this in the facelift. Apparently the facelift reaches this speed at 2500 to 2600 rpm while the older version used to reach there at a slightly higher 2800-900 odd rpm.

Not very sure about difference in RPM at 120 kmph. The face lift S-Cross 1.3 is slower than old car.

RPM at 100 KMPH in 3rd gear is same in both old and new 1.3

Re: My Brown Little Hippo: Maruti S-Cross DDiS 200 Alpha

The question is specifically about 5th gear. The facelift cruises at 2600 rpm in 5th gear as validated in my test drive. Just want to check if this is different(around 2900 rpm) in the old Scross 1.3 as informed by SA. it will be great if somebody with a Scross 1.3 could confirm. I am not trying to say prefacelift is better than post facelift or vice versa but just trying to understand if there is a difference and also the nature of the difference

To tell you the truth I have not taken the car to 120kmph in the past 1 year, after arrival of our little one. I ve started driving sedately as the road conditions and traffic in Kerala makes you do so. I have stopped early morning and late night highway runs.

I think it is close to 2600rpm in 5th gear.
I ll check and inform once I get an opportunity to take the car to those speeds

Nearing 50000km
Service is due next month

Had a trip to ooty from cochin
S cross cruised like a star on the highways
Ghat section performance was good
Did go out of breath on steep ascents, especially when no momentum was utilised

50k service

Had my 50k service at 51xxxkm @ Sai Nexa Cochin
Taking the car to sai nexa edapally for service is like taking a patient to government hospital out patient department during peak fever season. Inspite of having an appointment for service (I had to call up the service manager on mobile twice for that, the ladies at the service number were too casual), I had to wait for a solid 20 minutes for the service guy to inspect the car. He was as busy as a stock broker on phone. I waited at service for 40 minutes and he came to me briefly at intervals like the rain in July. He wrote down all my concerns, took the photograph and then disappeared only to reappear again and again. I asked him to do everything I wanted. He was like not at all interested in understanding the concerns, was too busy and just wanted to sent me back and take the car to the service bay.

No niggles till date
Had oil change and top up of fluids. AC filter was changed
Checked the clutch plate, which had decent wear and tear - Was asked to replace it at 60k - cost quoted was 9.5k including tax and labour
Had asked them to do alignment and rotation.

Not only was it not done this guy claimed that it was done. I had numbered the rims and the numbers were in the same wheel arches. Took the car to my local tyre guy and did the alignment and rotation. Gave only 6 stars for service. Unsatisfied. He apologised and promised me to do it at a later date, as I took delivery of the car after 6pm.

Even though overall experience was not that good at the service station, I was not worried as my hippo has not given me major problems till date. They did a pretty good job at replacing oil, fluids and body polishing at a cost effective price. Moreover the 60k package from Maruti covered all the labour of service. The bill came to around 3k for service (including oil , fluids and ac filter) and 1.5k for body polishing/wax.

I am finding the car really a boon in rains with broken roads all around. Enjoying the hippo on bad roads and rainy days.

I have not given it for service yet
Still in great shape, except the clutch plate wear
Will be giving it for service next week. Anything to be careful about at 60k service?
