Re: My Brown Little Hippo: Maruti S-Cross DDiS 200 Alpha

Bought the sticker /rubber inserts for cubby holes and door bottle holders.
12 dollars in ali-express. Blue, red and white options are available. I bought the white one. Bit on the expensive side, but worth the money spent.

Interesting! Would you share some pics of how they would look in the car?

How much time did it take to arrive?

For the ecosport, it took a month to arrive and for the Creta, I am stilling waiting. Close to 2 months. It depends on the seller also. Some process it fast while the others take their sweet time. But anyways, expect min 30 days to get the item. Also depends on your location too. Since you are from Delhi, you may get it quicker. Items are sorted and sent from Kolkata customs.

I think that white band glows in the dark. I have the blue one in the Fiesta. Wish the quality was a bit better, its just too plasticky. Fits okay.

I was keenly following the Scross thread and read whole of your ownership review when I was not a member. I am a Bhpian now and I should now congratulate you on the purchase. The Hippo is indeed a looker man! The alloys look fantastic. Not to forget, the pictorial comparisons of the Hippo with other vehicles is of great worth. Thanks Sandygordan for such wonderful comparisons .

Regards
Aakarsh

They have a faint greenish white glow in dark, like those old radium timepieces. Looks good, though quality could be better forthe price we pay

Took almost a month and a half to arrive.

Thank you
Now I feel like I should have waited some time for the1.6 prices to drop.
Anyway I am enjoying my 1.3 hippo.
Pictorial comparisons continue...

With the Corolla. Less broad and long. Equally ugly faces IMO

My Brown Little Hippo: Maruti S-Cross DDiS 200 Alpha-corolla-3.jpg

With the 4th gen Honda City
City is longer and seems to be as broad as the S cross.

My Brown Little Hippo: Maruti S-Cross DDiS 200 Alpha-city-3.jpg

Parked close to the new gen Jazz
Interior space (read knee room and head room) might match, but S cross is a whole segment larger. Totally justifies the 1L premium over the Jazz.
Note the space free in the Jazz lot. ( Better for use in narrow city roads )

I haven't yet had any such trouble (guidelines or the BT after 1200 KMs). Maybe just a co-incidence. FE for me is a good 20.8 as it reads but 60% of my run has been on expressways.

Hippo in the Ghats: Munnar

Hippo in the Ghats- Hippo in Munnar
My Brown Little Hippo: Maruti S-Cross DDiS 200 Alpha-1a.jpg
A travelogue to Munnar is notnew to team bhp. Had a trip to Munnar last weekend and the hippo impressed me with his ghat section manners. Took the highway from Trichur to Angamali, state high ways from Angamaly to Kothamangalam and NH 49 from there to Munnar.
My Brown Little Hippo: Maruti S-Cross DDiS 200 Alpha-7.jpg
Hippo impressed me with his control in the corners and some very direct steering and handling manners. Power as such was adequate for a winding ghat section road with slippery surfaces and occasional state RTC buses coming straight at you in curves. As some one mentioned you are only as fast as the slowest car infront of you. Hippo took the climb effortlessly, but boy the handling was superb for a car in this class. S cross took the road to the top station at munnar like a dream. It rode well and handled like a dream. Brakes were superb, had immense bite wherever required and gave confidence in those winding curves in the tea estates.

Here are some snaps from the Munnar trip.
Waiting to prowl in the misty mountains

Very nice pics. Am longing to do the drive to Munnar myself. Today did a drive from EKM to mundakayam. Some high range roads, car handled it with aplomb. Braking is solid too, instills confidence as you mentioned.

I had the same issue. It was raining when I drove out of the showroom and the wipers were already streaking. I got them changed today under warranty.

Awesome place is Munnar. In fact Forest Glade was our first choice when we were in Munnar two years back. Had to settle for Tall Trees (which was also awesome) as there were less rooms available in Forest Glade, we were a total of seven families travelling.

Looks like a universal issue. My right one is leaving two streaks on the windscreen.

Though it could be a quality issue. There is a good chance that it may be due to some oily residue / wax on windshield. Try cleaning the windshield with any cleaning agent and try the wipers again once.

3000km update

Things are going fine
Response at lower revs are improving day by day (May be I am getting used to this engine and car). I now get adequate power post 1.5k rpm for those overtakes at 40-70 kmph.
No issues at the moment.
I am getting an average of 16 -17 kmpl with 50:50 city and highway runs with ac on all the time. Planning to go for 3m treatments this month in addition to 3m cr 70 film on the windscreen (I have to park the hippo in the sun all day).

Please suggest some good sunfilms for the rest of the doors and rear glass.

The comparo shots will keep coming.
