Re: Above the Ordinary : My Crossover, the Maruti S-Cross

Update - Post 1000 Km

- Changed all Tyres to pressure @ 40psi , Nitrogen filled

Following are further observations,

-Driving pattern same ( route and timings), improved mileage, lesser road noise ( still not low though)
-First gear is just good enough for start off. All other times avoid moving from first!
-Reverse gear slotting is now more smooth ( maybe got used to)
-Second and third gears is the best to be in and in 2K-3K RPM band.

-Highlight of this car is its Ride and Handling - Amazing handling in all condition encountered so far!

Is it available at Bimal ORR Nexa lounge or we need to go to the main showroom?

Congratulations!
But 40 PSI seems to be a little high. With full load with 5 and luggage the manual prescribes 36 front and 41 rear. I think this only holds good for highway drives.

Initially the tyres were inflated to 45psi and the ride was a little bumpy and harsh on potholes. Then I changes to 36 for all tyres and the result was evident. Even the mileage improved as I consistently get 17+ kmpl although I am noway a sedate driver on city roads.

Update:

This will not be done at Maruti suzuki - They have been advised against fitting this on lower variants as changes to wiring harness is involved ( Auto light, i guess).

So upgrading through Maruti Suzuki on projector lights for lower variants will not be done for S Cross nor Baleno. All parts are available at the dealerships now but for Alpha variant as accessory only,as replacement.

Re: Above the Ordinary : My Crossover, the Maruti S-Cross

With the inclement weather in Bangalore these past weeks the S Cross was not washed once expect was left to the mercy of the rain gods.

Driving the S Cross in the current conditions with roads gaping with pot holes and water logged in many parts, this is when you will truly appreciate the S Cross

Mileage improves to 17.8 km/hr in city driving and 100% AC on.

Re: Above the Ordinary : My Crossover, the Maruti S-Cross

A little over 2 months past 2 months of owing the S Cross, enjoying every moment when behind the wheel and more so in the current 'rain' situation in Bangalore. No need to fear of being extra cautious over potholes or water clogging.

Average Fuel mileage is now at 18 km/L in city driving with A/C on.

With Michelin 3 PST, seems to draw a lot of pebbles in its tread pattern. Time consuming to remove each stone!

Those are some seriously good looking alloys! Rs.50K (for a set of 4) was the exchange price or MRP?

From an exclusive MSW dealer, quoted price was well above that and after a lots of bargaining got it for that price for the alloys ( MRP)

Buyback for tyre+ rim given was 25000 INR.

Silver roof rails for only 1.3 alpha and 1.6 variants. Others get only black ones.

First of all congrats on the purchase and the car does look good in those alloys. Just an alloy wheel change and it transforms the looks of the car. You seem to be getting some serious mileage on this car considering you are in Bangalore and also how big it is. Hats off to Maruti.

Re: Above the Ordinary : My Crossover, the Maruti S-Cross

At ~ 2000 km milestone, engine opens being smoother and more efficient

Sets a bench mark in mileage, beats the ARAI figures.

Quote:
Here is the normal route,
Route 1 (mornings)
Old airport road>MG Road>Raj Bhavan rd>Sankey Tank> NH4 towards Tumkur.

Route 2( evenings)
NH4 >IISC> Mekhri circle> Ulsoor> Indiranagar

Pattern of traffic is relatively less in mornings but jam packed at evenings.

Mornings - Avg speed 60-70 Km/hr
Evenings - Avg speed 40 Km/hr

Re: Above the Ordinary : My Crossover, the Maruti S-Cross

Wow ! Glad to see these numbers.

I was driving a petrol Vista before getting the S-Cross and one thing that majorly disappointed in the Vista was the fuel efficiency. So, I have made a good choice now

Thanks Volkman10 for the regular updates.
