Well, mine were changed at 20K servicing, and now again at approx 30K - so looking at it, I feel like a simple greasing should have prevented this change. Well cant comment on it now - lets see for how long these lasts. Now since I know the type of noise to look out for, and don't need MASS for troubleshooting, would get them greased/replaced from known garage at fraction of cost.
And man, your "jugaads" are indeed dangerous ! I would/should rather stay away from them!

If I recollect, the grease which MASS used was of bright orange color - 2 small sachets, one for each pin. And the quantity was such that it was all consumed by that pin and the whereabouts. Don't know if these were a part of new pin assembly or was an add-on.

The sachets come both as a part of the caliper pin assembly, and are available separately also. Separately, they cost 13 rupees and 33 rupees for 2 different size of sachets.

Just a small update - completed 30,000 kms !!

Duration - 25 months
( No highway drive since last 9 months because of hectic schedule - hoping 2018 would be better )

Would be visiting service center by end of the week for scheduled servicing.

Few updates !

First one being , that I have updated the HU to 1750 release. Not able to check it completely, but till now the connection to phone, and audio via phone is all buggy - will spend some time with it, and probably will have to reset and do it from scratch.





Second update, got the 30,000 kms servicing done via Qutab Auto Gurgaon.

Normal routine stuff, taking into consideration what was done in last servicing. EGR valve cleaning was included as well. With fully synthetic oil ( https://www.amazon.in/Mobil-Super-5W...inhydr18418-21 ) , the total cost of servicing after discount came out to be about 4500/- - I just love this running cost !

No wheel balancing and rotation - they were charging 850 for that ! Till date, I have not yet got the alignment done - the car is steady straight - why do I even have to mess with it ? I have seen alignment gone haywire when these people play around with it. So for now, I am just doing wheel balancing and rotation.

3M underbody coating is holding well - no cracks or peeling seen on underbody.





Here is the battery present in SHVS model - till date I have not seen this battery available and in stock on official Exide site. 2 Years since purchase, I am guessing it would last at least 1 year or 1.5 years more - apprehensive of availability of this specific model.












Finally, took a small trip to Heritage Transport Museum post servicing to free her up on a straight highway. ( http://www.heritagetransportmuseum.org/ ) - worth an outing for day. Just fyi, I don't have any affiliation with the place !

One more trip during new year break finished off fine.
Gurgaon > Dagshai Jail/Museum > Solan > Shimla > Mashobra > Gurgaon

Total kms traveled was around 800kms - have not calculated mileage yet as refill is not done - but approx would be around 25km/ltr.

Finally, with 6 bags, and boot completely full, and 2/3 adults in the back, I would try to fix this very soon. Either would go for an upgrade of tires (which is still about 20K away) - or better still, would be going in for RogerAb very soon -

Hello, wondering if I can buy from own consumables (like Engine Oil, filters etc) from outside and get my Ciaz serviced from MASS or dealer workshop? Is this allowed? Will this have an impact on my warranty?

Hey dude. I was denied this by dealer workshop, but the authorised service was OK with it. For warranty, as long as the oil is the same density/properties, as present in service booklet, it should not be a problem.

No trips planned for couple of months - which would mean about 2000kms in complete city driving.

With summer season on the horizon, I would be going in for 3M window tints- the films which are not dark, but keep the summer heat out.

Additionally caliper pin has started making the same sound again - just after 3500kms of getting them changed. Would get them greased this time rather than replacement.

So, the car is running the normal inter-city low mileage runs.

ODO is about to reach 34000kms mark.

Upcoming trip in a short while would be to "Tirthan Valley" - 1100kms of travel.

Trip to Tirthan Valley stands completed !!

Those who are unaware, google the place - its an offbeat location situated at an altitude of 1600 mts above sea level - situated hidden away on the route to Delhi > Kullu/Manali.

Major major advantages of this place - no commercialization, no long list of hotels, no pollution, no vendors, no tourist rush...If you want a place to sit down in a lawn chair, listen to just river flowing right next to you, along with some birds chirping - then this is the place !

Total One way distance = 540kms
Total Roundtrip = 1080kms
Fuel Spent = Approx 3080rs / 47 litres@around 65rs/ltr
Mileage = Approx 23km/ltr
Time it took to travel from Gurgaon to Tirthan = 11hours with multiple short breaks.
Time it took to travel from Tirthan to Gurgaon = 12hours with many short and one big break !

Route Taken was the following -

Gurgaon > GT Karnal Bypass > Panipat > Karnal > Kurukshetra > Rupnagar > Bilaspur > Sudernagar > Mandi > Pandoh Dam > Larji Dam > Tirthan Valley

For you who want to divide this into plain higway versus hill driving, I would say till Kiratpur Sahib, its all plain and smooth - about 360kms from Gurgaon. Rest is all hilly terrain.

Road condition is all good - throughout, barring a few odd patches here and there totaling about 5kms. Rest is all perfect.

We departed from Gurgaon at 3:30 AM at night. Wanted to cover as much as possible before sunrise, and without any speed guns on the way.









After Ambala, you take a right turn from Rajgarh , right on the border of Punjab and Haryana. This state highway takes you to Kharar, and then on to Kurari and finally Rupnagar. Condition is excellent, and the only place you may find a bit of rush is at Kharar(flyover is being constructed)









From here on it was all hilly, though roads were good.,







A cement factory , on the way - I guess ACC.

Younger Celerio/Automatic also went along with Ciaz - and had no problems whatsoever. Used Manual mode whenever needed.

The resort/homestay was on the other side of river - the road on the opposite end. Both cars were parked next to road, and cable car was used to ferry to the other end!
I have purposefully withheld the name of resort as I have no affiliation with him - will share the details on PM if someone needs it.

That must be Rajus cottage if I am not wrong. Have heard a lot about the place and outlook traveler seems to love this place no end. Would love to get an unbiased review about the property. It would be nice if you could add a few details about the valley itself and things to do or what you liked about the place. It's been in my radar since a long time and would love to go there if it's recommended.

Raju cottage is entirely booked throughout the summer - no booking available till June end.
This is Riverside Resort - the owner is related to Raju's cottage.

About the place, it's not a tourist destination - so you would find no official sunset and sunrise points, no crowds etc. All you would have is a most calm and relaxed vacation you can think of. Go on long walks, visit couple of nearby waterfalls, or maybe go for Jalori Pass. In my opinion, take a book, some music, sit down in the resort itself and relax. There is sufficient place for kids to play around, have volleyball net installed so you can try that. Caretaker can accommodate fishing if you need to try your luck.

To summarize, go there if you want to do "nothing" !!
