Also just curious, is your car parked in sun for long periods? I had left my XL6 in scorching sun once for 6 hours and when I returned, the leather on the steering wheel was feeling bit weird and the gearknob had become a bit sticky to hold.

Agree with you; it could be a matter of forceful or misaligned installation. I have replaced the gearknob only once in last 10 years of my SX4.

I used to clear the sticky feel on the gearknob by cleaning it with a piece of cloth sprayed with sanitizer. Same for steering wheel too.

re: Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ SHVS - Ownership Review at 60,000 km!

Seems either to be a bad installation or a bad piece.

Headliner sagging is something I've heard from a few Ciaz owners who have run long and usually park for long hours in hot sun. Is that the case for you as well?

It can be, was installed from an authorized service center. I'll get a new one fixed at a local garage and will see. By looking at installation, it was a simple push of the knob down on the lever.

I never had to replace the knob for my Swift in the entire 1,80,000 approx of usage. Though it looked worn out, but no cracks etc.

The car is parked in the driveway of home - and it's East facing, so gets fairly good amount of sunlight at least till noon or so. So yea, it is subjected to heat and sunlight. But then, it was the same with all of my other cars. Quality have really come down it seems.

So, got the gear knob changed with a new one. It was just popping in the new one, no major force needed, no effort required. I doubt if bad installation caused the last one to fail.

Re: Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ SHVS - Ownership Review at 60,000 km!

Had a road trip after a gap of more than a year. In the last one year, the car was just turned on while stationary in driveway.

Some random images.

Just an after thought, diesel prices have gone from 40'ish when I purchased this car to 90

Re: Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ SHVS - Ownership Review at 60,000 km!

Since Ciaz have completed 60,000 kms, and is due for servicing, I tried finding out cost difference between Nexa Service Center, Maruti Authorised Service Center and then a local garage doing service using Maruti Authorised spares or Bosch/Comparable spare parts.

I am still waiting for a quote from Nexa but have managed to procure rates from other two.

Maruti Authorised Service Center -

It's amazing that Authorised service center is trying to con us by adding EGR cleaning as a seperate standalone expense. And that too for 3200+ GST, whereas it should be a part of normal scheduled service labour.

Check footnote of following screenshot -

Neighbourhood Garage -
Here is the quote from them. A decent big setup doing all brand of car servicing. Have been going to them for small bits and pieces of running repair but got the servicing quote for the first time.

The INR 14,500/- + GST approximate you have been handed over looks a little suspicious to me. My uncle's 2015 Vdi just came out from it's 6th servicing (about 55,000 kms) from a Nexa service station, and the bill was around INR 9,500/-. Don't have the access to the bill, so can't compare at the line item level.

FNG setups work best if your car is over 5 years with you. We have a trusted family run FNG very close to our residence, and we ensure all our cars with +5 years are to be serviced there.
Reason - reduced costs, trusted advisory and as such, since the warranty is void, no point going to the MASS/Nexa services, as the difference in servicing quality (atleast for us) isn't much to be compared.

But, the whole point being - the FNG should be trusted enough to look at your car with full attention.

Re: Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ SHVS - Ownership Review at 60,000 km!

From MASS(Arena), the quote state these -

Re: Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ SHVS - Ownership Review at 60,000 km!

With the temperature reaching 48°C in the plains, postponed the idea of visiting service centre and getting the car serviced.

Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ SHVS - Ownership Review at 60,000 km!-screenshot_20210717140903.jpg

While searching, located a doorstep servicing company with an app in playstore.

Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ SHVS - Ownership Review at 60,000 km!-screenshot_20210717190613.jpg

The app is giving 1000rs as joining bonus. Servicing is a bit costly, and since I plan to get EGR/Intercooler cleaned, servicing at home wasn't viable for me. So, I booked two packages -
1. Brake Service - brake pad change + cleaning of rear drums.
2. AC service - filter cleaning + foam to clean interiors of AC ducts + whole cabin dry cleaning/vaccuming/foam clean of roof/doors etc.
Both of them costed 2200, from which I used 1000 joining bonus.
In the end, everything costed me 1200, and that too at home.

The guys came in at predefined and set time. They weren't late and live tracking available on their app. Maruti Van was filled with tools, air pumps and generator too. They don't need your power point.

Work done was very good and as per my satisfaction. Sanitization spray post everything though is a little gimmick, but well, who minds at 1200 !

Re: Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ SHVS - Ownership Review at 60,000 km!

Update : :

60,000 kms servicing done.

Compared a lot with local garages, and then finally settled in with Maruti Arena Service Center. It was a major one, so booked up with the company. The next two services can be FNG types.

Exact ODO reading -

Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ SHVS - Ownership Review at 60,000 km!-1.jpg

Customary sanitization before servicing. Though an eye wash, but nevertheless something is better than nothing. No charges for this added to the bill.

Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ SHVS - Ownership Review at 60,000 km!-2.jpg

Purchased a package for Oil Filter + Air Filter + Fuel Filter - this turned out to be around 150rs cheaper than individual MGP parts.

Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ SHVS - Ownership Review at 60,000 km!-3.jpg

Battery was tested, refilled with water - looks OK for now. But like all batteries, will die up all of a sudden

Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ SHVS - Ownership Review at 60,000 km!-battery.jpg

RogerAbs Suspension kit is holding up good. No cracks, no movement, no slippage. Happy with it !

Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ SHVS - Ownership Review at 60,000 km!-roger_2.jpg

Brake Oil replaced. Brake pads inspected and cleaned. No oil leakage from rear drums.

Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ SHVS - Ownership Review at 60,000 km!-brake.jpg

Intercooler removed, cleaned with diesel. Finally, cleaned it with high pressure air. Lots and Lots of dust cleaned. Living in NCR and its demerits. Poor lungs, what all they have been going through

With intercooler and front bumper removed, it was a perfect combination for pressure wash of condenser. Again lots of dust and dirt accumulated over the years.

Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ SHVS - Ownership Review at 60,000 km!-condensor.jpg

Water Pump Belt and ISG Belt replaced too. Thankfully the person doing it knew it very well, and it was all done in 10 mins flat. He knew to take care of tensioner which if damaged was for 11K !!

Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ SHVS - Ownership Review at 60,000 km!-igs.jpg

Finally, the EGR was taken out, and it was covered with a thick layer of sticky carbon. He used a spray to clean this out, along with Manifold entrance. Looked clean and just like new post treatment.

And finally the hit on wallet. Who says Maruti is cheap ?!
Even though Its a bit too much, but the only consolation was that there is not even a single entry which I did not asked for, or a product/service which was forced down by the SA.

Re: Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ SHVS - Ownership Review at 60,000 km!

With a heavy heart, against my wishes, but forced by Government + NGT , I bid a farewell to the car.

ODO was around 68,000 kms , and the car had ZERO issues. The only thing against the car was me working in NCR - had it been someplace else, the car would have done its duty for next 5 years flawlessly. Absolutely no extra expenses apart from routine servicing for wear and tear.

NCB 50% Certificate was generated and transferred to my next vehicle.

The car is sold off to a team-bhp member only - via our own forum's classified section. I hope and wish the car remains with him as troublefree as it was with me.

Duration - 6 years 6 months
Kilometers Travelled - 68,000 kms
Total Diesel Fillups done - 113
Average Fuel Efficiency throughout the duration - 22.86
Fuel Price - 44 to 96 per litre
Memories Made - Unlimited

But, But, not to end this thread with sad news.
A fresh ownership thread is in the pipeline !
