Ok, thanks for clearing up one point i.e.
Quote:
I've paid 6750 per service.

I think most people here were thinking that you paid Rs.13.5K per service!

About the attitude of the dealers and service, I agree, they are terrible. But then I've found all dealers are pathetic. That's why I don't bother with them any more.

RT, You spend 10 grand a year on service costs. But just how marginal is your running? 600 km a month?

I've dealt with Maruti, GM (Opel at that time) and now Skoda. Can't really think of a good word for any of them, although the services covered by warranty at Autobahn were the best of the lot. Better than any experience I've had with Sah & Sanghi or National Garage and Fort Point.

About 950km a month so far, which is really right on the general average I think, so makes for a good ballpark figure.

@11000 km p.a. you spend 10 grand a year to service your Octavia. Relatively, My Merc is not that bad at 18 grand a year average (service costs) if I drive her the same amount that you do. A car that costs 3 times as much, services at 1.8 times.

For the record, the Vtec rates at 2000-3000 p.a if I drive 11000 kms annually.cheers:

huh! Going by your post in your long term ownership report, the costs for the C220 are:

Quote:
About 16 grand for the 1st service (10,000 kms) and close to 35 grand for the second service (due anytime now)
So you are paying Rs.51,000/- for 2 services. I've paid less for 4 services and 2.5 years of running.

aah, but you run regular mineral oil. Run Mobile 1 and that cost goes up. But still, you can't beat a Jap (especially a Honda) for low running costs. Thats no secret or even a debate here.

Hence, I am not sure what your point here is. I'm not saying 10K a year is cheap by any standards, but then it sure isn't a deal breaker that would turn off a potential buyer of the car. I am just trying to put hard facts into a lot of loose comments that are thrown around on this point.

Thats regular service. If we count the "scheduled changes" at 40-60000kms what would be the per/km cost?
My indica gave a 1rs/km service cost for the past 15000kms. Out of this around 8000 is the scheduled maintainance cost, and this is the ballpark for small cars approximately(all belts etc., etc., brake pads blah) and around 7000 is Tata customer punishment cost.

If we are now comparing Indica's to RS's and TDi's, I'm at a loss for words!! LOL!! Next we'll have wheelieboy here saying his Chetak is far cheaper to run than the Indica!

before its taken seriosuly...I must say "Joke Joke joke"!!

Obviously my last paragraph has not been read. This is not a case of my car is cheaper to service than your's! Just clearing up facts, thats it.
Nope its not about indica. A VTEC costs 0.75 times that of skoda and service costs are 1/5th
I guess a fair comparison would be a Sonata embera.

DMH - did you try Silvertone Motors for the third service? I had mine done recently and it cost Rs. 4950 (incl Rs. 1250 labour).

I've had my Optra for 9 months and 2 services and I've paid absolutely nothing (free, free, free!).

Now beat that!

Alright 28l8uloose, this is the final OT post.

Apparently Mercedes has lowered their service costs to a still exhorbitant 15000, 25000 and 15000 (1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively). Each service is at the 10,000 km mark. Therefore at 33,000 kms (your driving pattern) I would have spent 18,333 p.a. in service costs.

My point is...in terms of relativity, the Mercedes costs 1.8 times to service as the Octavia. Though the car price is 3 times more.

Bomi, my third service is due in 1000 kms. Today Autostrada at Noida told me about 6.5k with synthetic oil. Ill go to silvertone if they say 4950. Can you give me the name and number of the contact person there. Also can I use you as ref if required . For that you'll have to give me your real name though..

Thanks for the info

I do not think you should compare in absolute terms. e.g. for say 6.5k, dealer may be carrying out settings, etc. and for 5k, other dealer may be skimping on it. It may be better for you to find out and compare the reasons for the 1.5k difference, if it matters so much to you.
