Hey buddy, congratulations on your new ride.
The GT of yours stands out, compared to the 320d. Wishing you many happy miles ahead.
But just a little curious on know your decision to not consider an Audi.
I personally feel the A3 with the 1.8 TFSI engine and the DSG gearbox makes it one of the best cars to drive in India below 50 lakhs, although in general, I do prefer the RWD system of the BMWs over the FWD of the VAG.
Also eagerly awaiting the new A4 launch in 2016.
Congratulations Axe77. It's a great review. Thanks for your earlier thread that dealt with choosing the GT. It helped me much choosing one. Now I'm inspired by your review to pen down one for 3GT Luxury Line. You have however raised the bar for me. Have a great time with your GT. Drive safe!
Congratulations for your new 3 Series GT buddy. A great driver's cum touring car its a perfect choice for a tourer. Before BMW used to have the 5 Series GT but I guess they have silently discontinued it and have launched the 3 series GT. The car's alloys just look smashing and is it standard with the car or you have opted them? Anyways congratulations buddy and wishing you loads of happy miles in it.
It was a pleasure reading through your review.
Obviously a BMW ownership review caught my attention.
All the best and safe driving :)
Great review Axe77. Your car looks hot! I can't help but look at it every time I walk by in the parking lot to my Yeti.
When the 3GT was just launched, I didn't like it at all. But now the looks have really grown on me, and I think it looks excellent. Not to mention how practical it is with the extra space, huge boot and good ride.

Thanks. A few good things about the A3 are - spare in wheel well and a respectable boot. DSG instead of CVT.
However, I simply don't see the point of spending that kind of money to get an Octy spec diesel engine and broadly a very cramped car (I believe its Vento sized almost). If I was ever in the market for an A3, I would rather have waited for the 2016 Superb instead.

Thank you for the kind words and I'm delighted my inputs could assist in your decision. I'm sure you'll put up a wonderful review if your Yeti thread is anything to go by. Always good to have multiple perspectives in any case. Look forward to your ownership thread.

Thanks. These alloys are standard with the Sports Line. Looks are subjective of course but I actually prefer these to the alloy design on the Luxury Line and I'm told some customers who've bought the Luxury Line have actually opted for the Sports Line alloys.

Thanks buddy. Its always great chatting cars with you. Mostly information download for me of course. We should take both the beemers out for a short spin one day maybe.
Great choice Axe77, alloys on your sportline look stunning.
My 3 series GT Luxury Line in black colour will be getting delivered on 2nd January. Which will probably be the 2nd GT in Team-Bhp. I had tried getting those alloy wheels for my car but it was going way out of my budget.
I promised a few more pictures in due course. The one thing I've learnt in this review process is that I suck at taking pics. But here goes with whatever best I could muster!
Sunday brekker at KGC. It only takes the slightest excuse to take her out for a spin with the family.
The rear sports only a GT moniker. There's no "3" badging anywhere.
I'm not sure if there's a material difference (or any difference at all) but somehow viewed straight on, I like the 3 series a bit more than the GT.
The GT has a really chunky looking rear profile ...

... as is evident in this rear 3 quarter view as well. I personally LOVE the flowing notchback look.
Front 3 quarters view
Up close view of the alloys. I think this is the same design as the erstwhile 330i but not 100% sure.
Complete side profile.

Yes that is something we must do. Maybe this coming Sunday.

Same as the F30 328i.
Hi Axe77,
Congrats on buying the Beemer! That was a nice and crisp ownership review too! The GT looks absolutely beautiful. You have surely made the right choice.
Keep us updated as the GT munches miles.
And here's wishing you thousands of happy and safe kms with your new acquisition.
Keep revvin'
Neel
Congrats buddy. Wishing you tons of joyous miles.
Nice to finally have a GT review thread here.

Hey - good point on the FE. The data is correct. Its just that the pic was probably from my Pune trip so the pic and corresponding statement are a bit confusing. The 12 kmpl reading is commensurate from what I got on highway driving.
I've since switched the FE setting to read in kmpl terms and in my experience the FE ranges in an 8-9.5 range within the city in heavy traffic. I think I put the old pic without looking closely but typed the FE information based on what I see day to day. |
So since the last fill, my car has been giving me around 10.5 kmpl plus FE. I just clicked this today which is over 3/4th of tank usage and 425 odd kms of running. The running is entirely in Mumbai city, a mix of bumper to bumper traffic, some on ECO PRO (usually when in traffic), some in sports when its open road or early morning type runs. The auto start stop is always turned off. I hate it and don't use it even in Eco Pro.
Can't complain with any FE that's 10+. My Nissan Sunny D used to give me about 13 kmpl in the city. To get close to 11 kmpl in a Beemer, which is
slightly nicer to drive :) is brilliant.

Lovely car buddy, had a look at the 3GT when i bought my 3 and my dad loved the high seating stance and big boot, it was out of my budget and owning the 3 sedan was in my wish list for years.
"Slightly nicer" - do not be so modest :D
Confused between 3 GT Luxury line and MB C220 CDI Avantgarde. I test drove C220 and i liked it very much but GT's interior has a got a very rich feel unlike MB. I had not taken TD of GT. It will happen in a couple of days.
I think the new C looks BEAUTIFUL. Inside and out. I'm surprised you found the GT richer but will have to see again maybe. Also, the C might be a quitter diesel I hope. I find the GT a bit loud by segment standards. Having said that the BMW drive will leave you with a wide grin every single time.
Ultimately comes down to what you're looking for in the car. Go for the TD and decide.
Good luck.
