This is the instrument cluster with analog dials. The one in my 3GT is the digital cluster. It is different and it was there in cars manufactured in 2nd half of 2017 I believe.

Ah, understood Hurtem. I guess Graaja has answered it. Sometime in 2017 was the mid life facelift for the GT which had a different cluster, steering with paddle shifters as well as a bigger iDrive console.

I in fact upgraded my steering wheel to the M Sport steering with paddle shifters as an after market modification.

Thanks guys. I think I figured the answer too by shining a cam at the dash. The MFID extends from the middle of the dash to the right covering the “right dial” or the tachometer in my version. This makes the right analog partly digital as the bottom (minor segment) is digital as its part of this MFID. This displays the driving dynamics that had me confused as one analog dial had a digital overlay while the other did not. It didn’t symmetrical and an odd layout.

BTW my sportline version comes with paddle shifters in stock form - but no full digital display.

It's quite possible to change the 6WA cluster in your car to the 6WB one found in graaja's car. Just Google for the same. Needs coding too of course.

Thanks itwasntme. Found it. I was curious. Quite happy with the stock cluster for now. Maybe a future upgrade. Currently I am more interested in boosting power. How complicated is the coding while upgrading if you tried it?

Also, got rear brake pads and sensor changed at our FNG for ~7K. BMW Infinity's quote was 30K!

Only one issue. Youll have to watch out for that silly grin it leaves on your face. But the face mask we need to wear should sort that out. ��

No seriously though. No complaints. I am very happy with the change. The engine feels smoother post the remap and there is definitely a liveliness to the mid to top end. I am actually happier about the first aspect. I found the default 2.0d a bit gruff. Just don't shoot me if I am suffering from placebo effect.

Remapped to ~239bhp, 500Nm. It’s a different animal now! Completely agree on both points- many more smiles. Also - does sound less gruff. Btw- Did your sport displays change to show the new range of power and torque? Mine seem to show the old upper limits of 160kW/190bhp and 400Nm ...

That’s AWESOME!! May I ask who did you get it done from? Mine was also mapped to 500 NM but the power was I think 225 (maybe 230) - I’ll also check.

To be honest I cant recall what the sports displays show. Will check it the next time.
Remapping really has been the best investment I’ve made in the car other than extended warranty. Other than the very obvious advantage of having gotten faster, the car definitely feels smoother and I feel even the mileage has improved.

I left from Mumbai last night with the trip meter reading at 115 kms or so. The mileage was showing at 13 kmpl - all in city traffic (read Lower Parel etc included).

Mumbai Pune had huge level of traffic and yet the mileage had only improved by the time I reached Pune last night. I came onward to Panchgani today and the mileage is now reading 15.7 kmpl. For the kind of explosive power this car offers, that is just embarrassingly efficient. Needless to say I am not complaining.

TBH I’ve not looked at the mileage so far as I’ve been focussed on the massive upgrade in creature comforts and now the performance it has.

I just saw. I drove to Panchgani last week from Bombay and have been driving (spiritedly) from Panchgani to M’war every free hour I get through the last week. Mileage is 12kpl over the last 450 odd kms incl the trek here. I don’t have context as I didn’t check the in city mileage the previous week. Will try to see over time. My memories of the older chipped F30 was very respectable efficiency. This one is the newer engine and should be better.

A minor update. Front left tyre had been suffering from a slow leak for the last week or so. When I got it checked for punctures the guy couldn't find anything. That left me thinking I've either got a bent rim or a valve problem. Was tossing between Pal Tyres and Premji at Mahim to get this sorted.

Ultimately decided to go to Pal Tyres since I have an existing customer relationship with him, having bought my last set of tyres from him a couple of years ago.

We did a full check of the wheel and the tyre at his Lamington Road shop and it was confirmed it is indeed the valve alone and nothing else. 40 mins and Rs. 300 later, back on the road, fit and fine, pics below.

I got my front brake pads changed over from a friendly neighbourhood FNG sometime last week. Also took the opportunity to replace my door handles which had developed the infamous black marks over the years.

Sunday saw a quick run to Pune for breakfast and a couple of nearby meet ups in Pune. Left Bombay at 6:30 am and came back by 3:45 pm or so the same day.

Car was tight and predictable as always. I’m much more aware of the speed cameras on the expressway so am mindful to slow down where the cameras appear.

Here are the pics of the start and end odo readings and parked at the food court on my way back. My car’s odo is literally just Pune and back in my car as within Pune I was driving around my local friend’s Nexon EV (awesome fun in its own right).

Just did an ~715 km trip in the GT from Friday to Sunday. Roads included expressway, smaller inner highways, village roads, no roads, lots of in city driving in Pune including very heavy traffic including on the ghat on the way in from Mumbai. Combined a lot of work, some friends to meet, some relatives to meet and a long pending trip to our Kul Devi, which was overdue a bit since Covid. Car as usual was fantastic taking in four passengers on the way out plus all our luggage including my folding bike which is permanently in the car. On the way back my mum stayed back so we used up a little space behind the drivers seat as well for some extra luggage.

Six year+ BMW and I have absolutely no hesitation in taking it to every kind of terrain and location. The pics will bear testament to the absolutely varied locations that the car was taken to, including to remote village roads in the back of beyond. The car was absolutely comfortable handling everything from expressways to completely broken roads. I always love taking inner MH roads - the scenery is absolutely breathtaking.

Th trip itself was absolutely packed.
Friday: I managed to meet some friends from Mumbai who were participating in the Deccan Cliffhanger cycling challenge (basically a 600 km ride from Pune to Goa via Mahabaleshwar). The day one pics are taken from Forest Hills Bhugaon with the sun setting in the backdrop.

Saturday: Took our usual morning trip to my son’s golf lesson at Karjat, the only difference being this time it was to and fro from Pune instead of Mumbai. We left about 15 mins early so got the chance to take some halts for a few nice early AM car pics.

Returned to Pune and did some personal work meetings with my wife. That was followed by trudging across the city to meet some relatives. Pune traffic was absolutely manic specially in the Hadapsar area.

Sunday: Left at 8 am from Baner towards Shikrapur on Nagar Road. Stopped for a quick breakfast halt at a hole in the wall place. I’m good with food on the go but always carry my own cold brew black coffee when I’m traveling. Usually manage to carry at least a couple of days worth. Lunch halt was at a nice clean place just near Rajgurunagar. From there, it was a straight drive to Mumbai via Talegaon and then the Expressway.

Stats summarised.

Day 1: ~190 kms
Parel Mumbai to Baner, Pune.
Baner to Forest Hill Bhugaon —> Prabhat Road —> Baner.

Day 2: ~250 kms
Baner, Pune to Karjat and back. Small work around Baner. Baner —> Yerawada —> Magarpatta Road, Hadapsar —> Baner.

Day 3: ~275 kms
Baner Pune —> Kawathe (via Shikrapur on Nagar Road) —> Pabal —> Rajgurunagar —> Expressway (via Chakan / Talegaon) —> Parel Pune.

Fuel efficiency: 12.3 kmpl
Consumed 58.22 litres of diesel over 716 kms to deliver a combined total FE of about 12.3 kmpl.

The dreaded moving shot is back. Looks like I finally got done in by one speed trap at least on this three day trip. Despite driving for most of the expressway at under 120 kmph, I got picked up on the rare occasion that I finally switched the speed limit off, less than a km or so where the expressway ends on the Pune side.

Took my guard off a moment too soon and got done in by a mobile police van speed trap. Still, back to back expressway trips across three days with only one ticket. I will take it I guess. One takeaway - at least for the mobile van, they’ve set the limit to 105 kmph - a 5% margin over the 100 kmph speed limit.

On this note though my pet peeve is back - I think the expressway at least deserves a 120 kmph limit - 100 is just that annoying bit too low for an expressway, but 120 kmph is at least workable.

Hi,
I'm getting a 2016 GT Luxuryline that has done about 41000 kms. Car seems to be in good condition.
One alarming thing was rat bite marks on the under-hood insulation which the owner said are old and the car hasnt faced any electrical issues. Will get the same checked by Infinity Indore.

Any other things to watch out for in the 3GT?

Car seems well maintained overall and has a complete service record.
