From what I recall, the Ciaz uses 5.5J Rims (15") & 6J (16") and fitting 205 on the OE Rims will not cause the tires to rub the arches.

It would be a situation to assess only when you upgrade the rim to a wider size (say 6.5J) and then put 205, that there are chances where tires would rub the wheel arches.

In my Ertiga, I have used 205 (again 5.5J Rims) and have NOT faced issue of tires rubbing the wheel arches ever even when there was full load and I have jumped over an undulation at highway speeds.

Of course, it will also depend on how generous is the wheel well area to accommodate wider tires but with Ciaz and the relatively softer suspension, 205s will still not be a problem on stock alloys/rims.

re: 1,30,000 km & counting, My Maruti Ciaz ZDI

Update: Crossed 34000 km

Odo: 34,177 km
Feb running- 1800km as of now. This month i was using my Safari for a few days along with my CBR 250R on other days.

Guess I overusing ciaz when compared to oher cars in my garage for the 2 reasons:

1. Extremely comfortable and easy to drive
2. Most fuel efficient among 4 cars + cbr

I should give ciaz some rest. Kwid gets to be driven. 2500km in 6 months is too less a driving.

re: 1,30,000 km & counting, My Maruti Ciaz ZDI

I have a weird problem with my ride 2015 CIAZ ZXI and I am worried. Off late I see the engine doesn't start. When I press the start button, all the accessories and the indicators etc. start except engine. Yesterday I was near Kuruva Island in kerala and by mistake took a wrong road. I realized and tried to take a U turn in the narrow road and the engine stopped and never started. This cause some vehicle pile up, since it was a holiday due to Vishu there wasnt much rush on road and a humble CIAZ owner saw my position and helped me pushing the car to a side. every time this happens I need to wait for 5 Minutes and open the bonnet and press all the fuse inside the fuse box and than start. What I am worried is there is no pattern how it happens. It just happens randomly.

It is a clear indication of a loose contact in the fusebox at either the main or the starter fuse. Get it checked at the ASS and have the fusebox replaced under warranty, it should solve the issue once and for all.

Thanks . Yesterday left the car with service center and they said it was diagnosed as a start relay issue and they have replaced it.If the problem repeats than I will ask for a fuse box replacement.

re: 1,30,000 km & counting, My Maruti Ciaz ZDI

Update: Crossed 38000 km
1580 km in the month of May inspite of my Duke 390 being daily driver, having done 2500 km this May.

Another unfortunate update: Ciaz hit a boulder at the lhs below the passenger door. Taking it to the body shop tomorrow. First dent, my carelessness! :(

Maruti A.S.S yet again has proved why they are the best. Got the dent rectified for just 2000 bucks.

I love the car totally.
Hello Prasanna, not only your friends, even i purchased the car after going through your ownership review (same color and version). I was in a dilemma as what car should i go for, i had dismissed ciaz even without giving a test drive because of the perceived lag. After reading your review took multiple test drives and was convinced that the car was suitable for my driving style and the power was adequate.

re: 1,30,000 km & counting, My Maruti Ciaz ZDI

On long drives with full load ie 4 passengers plus luggage does the Ciaz feel underpowered? Is overtaking easy in such conditions or the engine feels strained?

A very detailed & extremely useful report indeed. After reading your review, I feel that Ciaz is an very under rated car in today's market. NVH is acceptable in your opinion & FE is among the best. With the same engine, why then S cross sounds so noisy inside. Have you driven 1.3 S cross. If yes how do you compare it with your car with regard to NVH, ride & handling, high speed cruisability, feel of power & pick up and FE. Which is a better buy ?
Thanks

Happy that my review was useful.

I think reviewers do injustice when they say ciaz is underpowered. You wouldnt find any reviewer saying linea with same 90hp but heavier weight is underpowered, or ford fiesta which was just 68 bhp was underpowered.

I guess the initial turbo lag makes them feel so. In my opinion, Ciaz is not at all underpowered if you can drive.

Thank you!

I havent driven scross 1.3, but ciaz nvh is impressive. Between two, i would suggest scross as it is better built, drives better, equally spacious and has more features.

Odo update: 39,000 km done!

Wheel alignment and balancing done!

Odo: 39,220 km

I found the car to be bumpy at higher triple digit speeds. After alignment and balancing, the ride quality feels greatly improved!

Quite economical at 780 bucks for both the jobs.

re: 1,30,000 km & counting, My Maruti Ciaz ZDI

My ciaz has reached the 40000 km milestone!

15 days more for the second anniversary. Love the car totally. I would consider it best suited to me, more than other three cars at home, and the Duke 390. Not a single issue so far, totally reliable, comfortable, fuel efficient and classy
