I have the same in my S cross and I'm very unhappy with these wipers. They are streaking very badly and the sweep is not at all smooth. I had bad experience with 3M wipers too so maybe Bosch next time.

Sorry to hear that. They are still performing well in my car. May be the quality is not consistent, I saw couple of negative reviews on Amazon too.

re: My 2011 Maruti SX4 ZDi - Remapped by Wolf Moto, EDIT: 10+ years & 1.3 lakh km done

Minor update, Got the gear oil changed yesterday at mass since that's the only place i could find 75w90 grade oil. Initially the refused saying that car has done just 20k on existing oil and is good to go for another 20k but i needed to add liqui moly gearbox additive and hence wanted to do it with fresh oil. So we drained the old oil, it looked fine but anyways i went with fresh oil and two tubes of the additive.

Drove about 50 plus kilometers and the gears do slot better and smoother, maybe its the new oil at work or both the additive and the new oil. Overall i am happy and now il change it straight after 30k kilometer's.

I also saw power bleeding being done with some equipment on a ertiga brakes, chief mechanic mentioned it helps with the bleeding and is quite fast thereby saving time. Wonder why they didn't do it on mine last time when i replaced my clutch cylinder, anyways i did not want to experiment now that my gearbox is fine.

Incidentally i saw some drops of coolant near the thermostat housing and it freaked me out, but we cleaned the area and kept the car on idle for over 30mins went for two drives but there was no sign of any leakage hence came back home.Need to keep a watch, if i see drops again i shall pro-actively replace the housing and the associated clamps and pipes with the updated part number.

Steering Rack Rebuild

Steering rack assembly of sx4 costs a whopping 38000.00 plus labour, near to almost 40k.
I was in no mood to shell that much moolah and explored other options as the noise on rough roads and minor bumps was irritating me.
MASS did try to convince me replace and not go for repairs, as per them if the sensors are disturbed then there is a possibility of steering pulling on either side on high speed. To be frank this did scare me, i pursued repair options and spoke to a couple of people in mumbai/pune etc. All of them mentioned that they do not touch the sensors or the motor assembly and repair all high end cars like BMW etc.
Luckily i found a guy in goa itself who has done such repairs, so i took the car to FNG, removed the steering rack assembly and gave this guy in the morning at 10.00 am and had it back in my hands by 15.00hrs. Post fitting we found steering absolutely perfect with no sound.

Cost of Bush at lathe =800/-
Labour at FNG = 1600/-
Total Cost incurred = 2400/-

Went back to MASS and had a drive with the same service adviser,he asked me if i replaced the assembly as it feels perfect.
Drove at various speed including some triple digits found steering behaving normal, no pulls etc.

This is OE turbo of my S-Cross 1.6

My 2011 Maruti SX4 ZDi | Remapped by Wolf Moto | EDIT: Sold at the 12-year mark-img_20190228_234313.jpg

Wait..This is SX4 thread . Yes, I would be installing this turbo in my SX4. I believe it's not plug and play. Few guys in Italy have put this turbo in 1.3 MJD and took it till 140 HP. Planning to do the same , hope it works out..

I am not in hurry, need to complete S-Cross build first .

Amaron battery lasted for ~6 years

Yes, the battery gave up today. The car did not crank and I couldn't charge the battery too. Battery life of 6 long years is something special in a diesel car .

Hi.

Good that you could get the steering rack assembly repaired successfully. I have two queries:

1. What exactly had gone wrong inside?
2. Why did it go wrong?

My SX4 has now completed 1,15,000 km. Touchwood, it drives like new. But I get scared when I hear an amount of 40k for steering rack replacement.

re: My 2011 Maruti SX4 ZDi - Remapped by Wolf Moto, EDIT: 10+ years & 1.3 lakh km done

Hi Dr. Naren, I've been reading about your posts on the modifications done to your SX4. Really impressive. I have a SX4 zxi. 12 years old and I've just clocked 1.5L kms. I've been thinking about pampering her and getting physical/mechanical upgrades.
Physical would be mainly a repainting the car with minor asthetic upgrades.
I intend on changing/upgrading the headlights. Any suggestions???
Most important, mechanically I'd like to know what are my options. With out compromising on fuel efficiency or future costs of service etc. ?
P.S - I'm not much of a petrol head and don't know much about modifications etc. Hope to learn more from you guys here

1. Find a good installer (very important)

2. Retrofit good quality HID projector / Led Projector, say from Morimoto

This will improve the looks and also give very good light output.

Remap, Cold air intake and Free flow exhaust

I personally don't know any good installer in Bangalore. But, you can check with these guys.

https://www.facebook.com/Carprojectors/

Regarding ECU remap for NA cars, I would suggest to check with Quantum tuning (GT Tunerz) or Wolf Moto.

SX4 gets old Panasonic battery from S-Cross

I drive around 100 Km today and got the car to Manipal. Performance is as good as before, but I have noticed that steering is very heavy and there's abnormal noises from front suspension or steering rack..need to get it checked.

The car performed well except for yet to be diagnosed sounds on bad roads from front suspension / steering rack.

Yes, I have entered into sub 10s in my 1245 kgs, 1.2 lakhs + km run SX4 with just a remap from Wolf. Time to go more faster with decat downpipe and turbo upgrade.
