The car is doing good and nothing much to report. Dad is using the car even on highways now. He drove twice to Bangalore and would send me pics of 23-24 kmpl on MID lol:.

Also the car feels totally different to drive now. Thanks to ECU update during official recall (Well, some guys at Renault told me that I was responsible for this recall lol:).

I wanted to swap my S-Cross with SX4 and had driven to Kasaragod. I was almost ready to drive back to Mysore in SX4. Dad changed all the plans and made sure that I would be driving in Kwid lol:.

The car was very dirty and I gave her a quick wash.

Kasaragod to Mysore : "225 KM Kwidding"

I drove alone from Kasaragod to Mysore today. I did not go above 100 kmph and still took only 4 hour 15 mins to cover 225 KM :). The handling was pretty decent on ghats but the power was lacking. I had to be in 2nd gear most of the times to overtake slow moving trucks. I got 17.7 kmpl.

The car has run around 6500 KM and I have noticed this issue since few days. There is vibration and rough sound at idling. But the sound disappears if I depress the clutch and it comes back when released. What could be the culprit? I am suspecting Input shaft bearing. I am not finding any time to visit service centre :Frustrati

I drove 250 KM yesterday. There was heavy rain during the entire drive. Single wiper blade did perform well. Handling on wet roads was very decent even with stock tyres. MID showed 19.2 kmpl but I got 20 kmpl on tankful method :).

Regarding the noise & vibration at idling.. Dad says it's not because of input shaft bearing and it is related to clutch cable.

With S-Cross

Conversation with Dad and see what happened to Kwid

Me : Why do you want so many cars and how much do you drive?

Dad : My drive is only 10 KM per day and Maruti 800 takes care of my needs.

Me : Exactly!! S-Cross, Baleno, SX4, Grand i10, Ambassador are not even used. I am driving the Kwid as per your order.

Dad : Kwid is perfect car for you.

Me : WTH!! Why??

Dad : It's a slow car and you can't mod / remap it lol:

Me : Kwid is very good car and I guess you should be more comfy with Kwid than 800. Use it for couple of days.

Dad : Ya, I agree.. But...

Me : Bye dad!! I disappeared within 10 mins in S-Cross and ended up in Mysore after 4 hours haha.

So What's the status of Kwid??

Dad has locked it in godown and still using 800 :uncontrol

Update :

The car was with dad. He had not mentioned to me about this problem. There was Check Engine Light few weeks back and dad had also noticed minor drop in FE. He had taken the car to Renault. On diagnostic scan, the error was related to Accelerator pedal sensor. The dealer is supposed to call us back when they get the part and replace under warranty. Also that error has not come back after they cleared it.

The dealer has never called us back to replace the faulty A pedal sensor. Dad was not using the car and he too did not follow up. I checked the car today. There was Malfunction light. It was orange in colour. As per user manual, we should drive the car carefully. If the light is red, we should stop the car.

I also observed that light would disappear if I press the accelerator and it comes back if I lift off the pedal. My OBD reader couldn't pick up the error code. But, I am sure it's the same issue and on Renault diagnostic scan it was related to A pedal sensor. I will take the car to Renault soon.

ODO is around 6500 KM. Fuel pump has been replaced. Renault has also updated ECU map. A pedal sensor has to be replaced next. After sales support of Renault is below average. I hope the car doesn't give more problems in future :Frustrati

Update : Issue Fixed!

I was angry because dealer never called back and mentioned that Renault service is pathetic. I found out today that the old dealership in Mangalore has shut down. No wonder I did not get the call about parts availability lol:.

A new dealership has opened up in Mangalore. The service centre is much bigger. I took the car there today. SA told me that this is a "Known Issue". They have replaced accelerator pedal along with sensor in many cars before. I was lucky that I did not have any other issue except Malfunction Light. There were few reported cases of Kwid accelerating on it's own due to faulty A pedal :Shockked:. As usual Renault is not recalling the cars. They are replacing the part only if there are any complaints.

SA confirmed about the availability of part and asked me to wait for an hour. New A pedal and sensor were fixed. ECU programming was also done. They also adjusted the coolant hose gap (Renault system instructed to do it when job card was opened). Everything was done under warranty. I have driven around 50 km and happy to report that issue is fixed. I have also observed that A pedal travel has increased now. I am also happy with new dealer and service. Most of the staff are same as old dealership, but they are lot more professional now.

There are no issues to report. Accelerator Pedal issue has been fixed. I did not get any malfunction light. The drive was uneventful. I just wished car had better brakes, blame the tyres. My Kwid is one of the slowest car in garage, read 3 times lesser powerful than my tuned S-Cross, but I took only 15 minutes more to reach Mysore compared to S-Cross lol:.

More Issues :Frustrati

I have faced one weird problem few days back. There was Malfunction light all of a sudden. I thought it is related to A pedal again. To my surprise, indicators stopped working. There was no sound or display in the cluster. After some time, I tried flashing the headlight and even high beam indication was missing :Shockked:. I pulled aside and found out that indicators, high beam, fogs were all actually working.. But nothing in cluster!!

Short video of the same :
https://youtu.be/1wzvzZ0sjJU
The problem disappeared on it's own. I have driven 300 KM after that and everything is fine. My OBD reader couldn't pick up the error code. It should be visible on Renault scan. What could be the culprit? Battery? Faulty BCM /ECU / Cluster?

^^ I would suspect this to be a faulty wiring coupler to the console. It may have come loose or hasn't been fitted properly.

If the coupler is fitted properly to the console, the wiring needs to be traced to its source(maybe BCM) to identify the problem.

If there is an exclusive fuse for the console, even that needs to be checked.

2 years / 8840 KM Done!

It's been 2 years with Kwid. I have run only 8.8k km which is very low. We had bought S-Cross and Kwid together. S-Cross has run close to 40k km in same period :D.

Insurance renewed : Rs. 7750 (United India from Renault dealer). I opted for Zero dep as the premium was only 1.5k.

3rd free service done : Rs. 1733

This is the last free service. Renault offers free service till 2 years / 20k km. Glovebox was not closing always and they replaced the lock. It's fine as of now. Few owners have got the entire glovebox replaced under warranty. We had asked for the same and dealer denied it saying no warranty for plastic parts :Frustrati. Renault has updated the glovebox part now.

Renault had instructed dealers to carry out one more ECU update. I believe this is the 3rd update in my car now. I couldn't find out the reason for update. I did not notice any difference too post the update. Posting the bill.

I drove the car for around 150 km today and Yes, there are few changes.

1. There is no jerk when you lift off the A pedal and again do full throttle. Previously car used to be jerky. Now there is no response for half a second or so which results in no jerk.

2. Vibrations on steering and gear knob have gone down.

3. Car is little more revv happy and top end seems to be improved. Car was picking up speeds better in 5 th gear above 110 kmph.

4. Slight improvement in FE too :)

3 years / 12k Kms Done !

I haven't updated this thread since long time as the car had run very less. The accelerator pedal issue had come up again. I got the car serviced today at Renault Udupi. A pedal was changed under Goodwill Warranty. The new part is cheaper ( around 700 bucks ) and has different part number. Previous one was around Rs. 1200. I got the insurance renewed too.

Insurance ( Zero dep from Renault ) : Rs. 6500

Service Bill : Rs. 4181

I could have saved 1000 bucks, few jobs like brake cleaning, caliper greasing, 5 point check up etc were not approved by me. But, I let it go as they changed A pedal under goodwill.

Battery health was weak as per their diagnostics. I have not observed any delay in cranking, would keep an eye on that.
