Online spares portal sparesncare has given me 2 options : Brembo and Roulunds. It is not listed in their website, but they will source it for my car

Brembo brake pads : Brembo is well known brand for performance brake pads. But, I have seen many claiming that Brembo sold in Indian market is low quality/ fake. It costs 3000 Rs. Seller has assured me it's original and full refund if there is any quality issues.

Roulunds brake pads : They have started manufacturing in India. Seller has assured me that performance would be better than OE pads and costs only 1060 Rs.

Which one should I go for?

Also the brake pads for S-Cross and SX4 are same. I have both of them in my garage .

Try out the TRW brake pads. I have them on my Corolla and the braking has improved over the stock pads. My car has run about 7k Kms post the upgrade.

Where did you get these pads from? Could you share details, so that I could check the availability for S -Cross? Also, how much did it cost for your Corolla?

My FNG had arranged those pads for me in Pune. I don't remember the exact pricing but the front set was approx for 1.8~2k.

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

The car has run 9990 KM and it's time for 3 rd free service. Oil and oil filter needs to be changed. My regular Maruti dealer did not have parts in stock and it should be available by now. I will get the service done this week. Also, I have bought Roulunds brake pads for 1100 Rs and would install the same. Wheel alignment and tyre rotation was done at 7500 KM and I won't be doing the same at MASS. I prefer to get it done from reputed tyre shops outside.

10000 KM / 3rd Free Service :

I got my car serviced today at KVR cars, Kasaragod. They did a good job and took just 3 hours. Mine is the only 1.6 which they get for service. It was the first time they were doing oil/oil filter change for 1.6. Mechanic struggled a bit to access oil filter. It's placed at a very inconvenient location. Tyre, Wheel cladding and engine underbody cover needs to be removed.

What was done?

1. Oil and oil filter change
2. Air filter cleaning
3. Greasing of caliper pin
4. Wash & interior cleaning
5. All fluids top up

Total Bill : ~4000 Rs

Engine oil costed around 3000 Rs for 5.3 L( Petronas 0W30) and oil filter costs 1000 Rs which I found too expensive.

I have driven around 100 KM post service and engine feels smoother post oil change. I was supposed to install Roulunds brake pads, but I forgot to pick it up and left at home.

I am pondering over the exactly same issue.

In my town, MASS is located within 1 km of my house, but here I don't see too many 1.6s. However in adjacent city i.e. Karnal there are many cars with bigger engine. So I have decided that for 3rd free service I would go to Karnal (30 Kms). I expect better expertise level there.

I could have got the service done at Mangalore(40 KM away). There are 2 Nexa dealers. Also they get plenty of 1.6 for service. But I prefer my usual MASS because they do my cars very fast and also I could be with the car and supervise .

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

I have driven more than 10,500 KM and 1.6 has kept me happy all the time. My garage has a mixture of cars ( 5 under use on public roads and 2 only inside our farm). My daily drive is around 80 KM and S-Cross is the car which I would always love to take out. But I couldn't do that because I need to use my other cars too .

SX4 and S-Cross are very similar to drive. But I find SX4 little better in terms of handling and braking. No car is perfect but thanks to the gem of an engine under hood and neutral dynamics, 1.6 S-Cross would never disappoint an enthusiast.

How / why does the SX4 with 190mm GC handle better than S-Cross? Same with brakes, SX4 has drums at the rear.

Both my SX4 and S-Cross have 180mm GC. Even the front brake pads and discs are same. S-Cross even gets rear discs, but still SX4 braking is very good compared to S-Cross. I really can't understand how. Is it the JK Elanzo tyres?? I feel JK Vectras on SX4 were better than Elanzo.

Autocar India used to do 80-0 KMPH braking tests and SX4 had the best figures in the segment. I couldn't find similar data for S-Cross. If I could find out the real culprit, I would try to do that change in S-Cross .

Braking (in metres)
SX4 - 21.47
Vento - 26.90
Linea - 27.56
Fiesta - 28.36

Not yet. I have found EBC Green brake pads for SX4. Since the brake pads are same, it should fit even S-Cross. I would be getting it in few days.

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

I have decided to install OEM spoiler, painted in midnight black from Nexa. It costs 5500 Rs and would be getting it installed tomorrow. Nexa Accessory manager said that spoiler is painted and ready for installation I am not very comfortable with drilling, as it might cause rusting on long term. I will check with them if installation is possible with 3M double sided tape.

Also i had purchased Roulunds brake pads, I was little hesitant to install it because my fingers would turn dirty by just touching the pads. Also if I rub slightly, the powder comes off easily. I am concerned if it would perform effectively.

Is it normal with new unused brake pads?

I have found a seller with EBC Green stuff brake pads for SX4. I think it should fit on S-Cross as the pads are same. But the dealer has guaranteed fitment only for SX4. It costs around 6200 Rs.

Your fingers getting dirty upon touching the pads is completely normal IMO. I don't think this should affect the effectiveness of braking in any way.

I am concerned about the life of pads. The powder comes off easily even with slight rubbing. I had not observed this in OEM pads of SX4, Grand I10. Imagine if the black power comes off so easily, what would be the case under hard braking?

Some brake pads do tend to be more dusty. And as i mentioned the effectiveness wouldn't be affected. As for the life of the pads they might tend to last comparatively less longer and you might face a lot of brake dust in the wheels on a day to day basis. But again from your picture i feel its quite normal to have that amount of dust even in the new pads. But yeah, I am no expert, probably someone with better knowledge can comment on this.
