True that. I couldn't observe any improvement in acceleration. I even timed the car on same stretch of road and there was no difference.

The only thing I use is STP injector cleaner (my cars have petrol engines) twice a year.
What I had tried is diesel speedtec additive. There is one more similar product from Liqui Moly which claims to clean carbon deposits.

3M store visit :

I took the car to 3M Mysore and got the UV protect treatment done. This is one of the most basic package and costs around 1400 Rs for Large cars.

It includes :

1. Car wash
2. Interior cleaning
3. Dashboard dressing
4. Engine dressing
5. Wax application by hand

They have done a good job as usual. Also, I asked about new 3M wiper blades. But they did not have frameless blades. I tried the new product by 3M which is mixed with regular water and used as windshield fluid. It helps in clear wiping and doesn't leave water marks. It costs 70 Rs and does the job.

I don't think anyone will notice much difference on a car that has run just 20k kms. He should try it after 60 to 70k kms to feel the difference.

The product which I have used doesn't claim to clean injectors or any carbon deposits. There is another product from Liqui Moly for the same. I have used diesel speed tec additive which claims better combustion and faster acceleration. But there was not even 1 percent gain

~800 KM Update post XP Micro 3 inch and Continental MC5 tyres :

I had installed XP Micro 3 inch fog projector and Continental MC5 tyres around 15 days back and have already done close to 800 km.

Video shot yesterday :

Please note that the phone camera has overexposed the foreground(area near to the car) . It is not so bright in real.

I am in love with MC5. These tyres are huge improvement over Elanzos. The tyres held the launch much better during 0-100 runs. I had around 0.2 seconds gain with these new tyres

0-100 with JK Elanzo :

0-100 with MC5:

MC5 after 800 km :

I would be driving to Kasaragod next week. Can't wait to check how MC5 performs on the ghats . Also, I will get the 20,000 KM service done.

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

Crossed 20,000 KM

I drove around 450 KM yesterday (Mysore to Kolar highway CCD Round trip). It took me 3.5 hours to reach the destination. Car performed as usual and no issues. I left the place at around 12 30 AM and took only 2.5 hours to reach Mysore. There was nil traffic and just loved the empty roads. Average speed was 85 KMPH on return journey.

OK, but why did I drive 450 KM all of a sudden??

1. I took around 4 hours 10 mins to drive 225 KM with average speed of 54 KMPH. There was thick traffic till Coorg and then heavy rain till Kasaragod.

2. Shell V Power diesel : I did not find any significant difference for first 50 KM of the drive. After that, I noticed good difference. Half throttle response was better and I felt that the acceleration has improved. But, there was slight increase in engine sound. When I logged 80-120 in 4 th gear, there was 0.2 seconds difference. I will do that again on the same stretch of road later in Mysore to get a clear idea.

3. MC5 feedback on ghats : I was badly waiting to test the MC5 on Coorg road. I couldn't push the car aggressively, thanks to wet road. But, I really loved the new tyres. Grip was much much better than Elanzo. Even on wet conditions, I could take few corners around 10 kmph more than I used to do with Elanzo.

4. I got decent FE of 15.2 kmpl.

I will get the service done this week and post the update.

Cheers!!

How much is the difference in cost for Shell V power Diesel against their regular Diesel? I had enquired about it when I filled up on Saturday but it was unavailable.

About Rs. 7-8; and as most users have mentioned on other threads, not exactly with very significant improvements.

It costs exactly 7 Rs more. I could notice the difference only after driving couple of Kms. I would not use it regularly though.

I noticed few drops of engine oil on top of engine cover and also on back side of cover. I was very concerned and tried to look into the source of this leak. I couldn't figure it out and took the car to MASS. They looked into it seriously and could not find any leak. According to them, it was the engine oil which got spilled during oil filter removal and some drops of oil should have got displaced while driving. Engine oil spray in 1.6 S-Cross would give any owner tremors, thanks to the recent Engine issue in 100bhp's car.

Notice the oil markings on back side of engine cover :

I was always thinking about my S-Cross since last few days. Reasons are new updated Wolf map, XP Micro wiring fix, Road force Balancing again at Madhus (Steering vibrations present at very high speeds). I wanted to get all these done ASAP. I was in Mysore and no S-Cross. I drove 250 KM yesterday night just to swap the cars haha.

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

I had reversed the car out of underground parking lot. I pulled the handbrake little (not engaged fully) and I had also not put into gear. I got out of the car to open the boot. To my shock, the car started moving down into the parking lot. I tried to get into the car and injured myself, I got dragged along with the car. My S-Cross went all the way down and collided with Uncle's GLA. There was huge sound. I felt there was some serious damage. To my surprise there was not even a scratch on GLA. S-Cross had dislodged front bumper, number plate was bent and paint was chipped at few places. I could put the bumper back into the place on my own.

The experience was really scary and thankfully I do not have any serious injuries. I escaped with few abrasions and contusions.

Lesson learnt : Anyways engage the handbrake fully!!

Analysing my mistake : The initial range of hand brake is not at all efficient in S-Cross, do pull it fully

Thank god that you got away with minor bruises. Do not try to get in front/back of a rolling car. It will easily gain momentum and you won't be able to stop it and could crush you.
