Hey man! I've been following all your Cross threads for a long time now... If you are still in the Luru I'd like to take a peep at this beast if you don't mind. Monday is my holiday hint hint

EDIT - Funnily a friend of mine who does ceramic polishing for cars shared your Baleno post and that's what brought me back here!

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

I had mentioned here few days back that there was lot of juddering and vibrations while braking at high speeds. I had suspected the brake discs then. To be on safer side, I ordered new set of brake pads from Amazon. It was ASK brand and costs only 851 Rs. ASK is a known company and they are OE for few manufacturers.

I took my car to Mahindra first choice today. On inspection, the Roullunds brake pads still had some life but they were not in good condition. According to the service guys, these pads were not able to withstand heat and there is abnormal wear. Brake discs were good and that wear and tear is NORMAL and adviced me not to get the skimming done. They changed the brake pads in 20 minutes. I am happy with their service

Cost :
ASK Brake pads(from Amazon India) : 851 Rs
Labour charges at Mahindra First Choice : 354 Rs
Total : 1205 Rs

Note :
1. Brake pads for SX4 and S-Cross are same
2. It would have cost me around 3200 Rs if I got this work done at Maruti.

Initial Impressions :
1. No juddering or steering vibrations now
2. Initial bite is much better

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

I was driving at speed of around 20 kmph and took a right turn. After few seconds there was CEL and engine was not revving above 3000 RPM. It was 4 lane highway and even before I could pull over to left and go into service road, the engine just stopped. It was on uphill and my car was stopped in right lane. I couldn't start the engine, tried few times and gave up.

First time ever I had to use this triangle

I scanned the error codes and it was P0091. Quick search on Google described it as low voltage from fuel pressure regulator : ECU has identified fuel pressure out of operating range. I called my tuner Rajiv and gave him also mild heart attack

I was thinking too much like what would have gone wrong. I realised my stupidity then. I had run 105 KM in reserve fuel. I shaked the car, turned ignition on and off couple of times. There is no need to remove the air lock manually in both 1.6 and 1.3 MJD engines. The engine started finally and I drove around 1 km and it stopped again. But this time I could park the car in safer location.

I called my friend and he got 4 lites of fuel. But, look what he got
My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20171009_152941.jpg

I went with him to get diesel. Shell pump refused to provide fuel in bottles. I got diesel (4 litres) from IOC bunk. We filled the fuel and the car did not start in first attempt. I switched ignition on and off several times to remove the air lock and finally it started!!

I used to always reset my trip meter B when reserve light comes on and used to fill within 50 km. Thanks to my stupidity, I measured how much is the reserve fuel in S-Cross haha. It should be around 10 litres. Also I learnt a lesson that even your closest friend won't know about the fuel of your car. I hope my fuel pump is not damaged because of running on very low fuel. I have driven around 30 km after filling fuel and everything seems OK!!

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

I had filled Shell V power diesel and drove for 150 KM. I observed that the car was very jerky and power delivery was not at all smooth. I had filled the same fuel many times before and had never experienced this. I was suspecting that the fuel pump has gone bad, thanks to me running on very low fuel as mentioned on previous post. I did full tank at IOC and the car was fully Normal within 15 KM... Relieved

The car has run around 26,000 KM and has run only 4000 KM in stock map haha. It's been 7000 km since tyre change and I am totally happy with Continental MC5.

Check the tread after running 7000 KM!!

I prefer to keep the interiors clean as much as possible. Also I hate it to see lot of stuff here and there. It should be neat. This is how the interiors are :

I need to repair / replace the front member which is bent and also some minor painting work. Post that, I am planning to get the ceramic coating done.

That's a very well maintained interior.

One of my favorite pic of SCross. The range this armrest offers. It is almost stuck in my mind from the day i first saw it. Rarely any other car in 10-15 lakh bracket offer this much practicality w.r.t armrest. So much that I have this as a benchmark etched in my mind for the time when I go for a car in this budget. Enough of fanboyism now

Happy mile munching Doc!

Yes, I second that. The arm rest which is fixed is useless in many cars. I have fixed armrest in Baleno and I don't even get to use it. S-Cross has sliding one with good range, dead pedal, Cruise control.. Perfect combo for relaxed highway driving. Get bored or sleepy : just press your right foot for all the action

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

I drove 225 KM yesterday : Mysore to Kasaragod. There were 3 people in car and the drive was effortless. Weather was also very pleasant. We, cousins were driving in remapped S-Cross 1.6. Dad and Mom were following us in remapped SX4 1.3 . The remapped 1.3 SX4 would pull ahead of us whenever we slow down on speed breakers. I pushed the car fully whenever possible and covered 225 KM in 3 hour 30 minutes. Dad was maintaining constant speed in SX4 and he took only 15 minutes more As per MID, I got FE of 14 kmpl.

At CCD Sullya :

I love this stretch of road at night. It's narrow but there is no traffic. This is when you near God's own country!!

Happy Diwali from SX4 and SX4 S-Cross!!

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

I am very happy to report about the performance of ASK Brake pads. I have driven almost 1500 KM with these pads and they are just superb. Very VFM product as it costs 3 times lesser than OE pads

Due to my heavy braking, there are scratches / ridges on the rotors. The surface is very rough. Rotors for SX4 and S-Cross are same. I got old rotors of SX4 skimmed at lathe for 400 Rs.

Note : The brake pads in this pic are Rane make, just picked it up to try during next change!!

The current ODO is around 27K KM. A friend had tried ADON additive from IOC and gave good feedback. I too tried the same today. There is good difference in NVH. I have not noticed any difference in performance / timing. Happy with the product : need only 2 sachets / 20 ml for 1 tank of diesel. 30 Rs extra per tank full of diesel it is . It is imported by IOC and made in France.

I had visited MGP store to check the status of service manual order. It's been more than 3 months since I had placed the order. They have told me that the order is processed finally, hope I get it in 10 days.

The rear brake pads in my S-Cross would need replacement in few months. I just checked the price at MGP store and it was close to 6000 Rs . The bigger front pads cost less than half of it. Reason?? : Yes, the rear brake pads are imported!! I have decided to ask someone to carry EBC brake pads from Europe. It would be cheaper and better

EBC Ultimax have a bad reputation. Squeaky brakes, spongy feel and a lot of brake dust. If you're getting from UK, look at Mintex. I got Mintex pads from UK and couldn't be happier.

The brake fluid level was below minimum mark. I went to MGP store and picked it up. I also bought car care kit. I used glass cleaner and dash board shiner today. Glass cleaner was pretty good. But I am not happy with dash board shiner, it has got this strong smell and leaves behind wet marks .

Car care kit : 359 Rs
Brake Fluid : 185 Rs

Yes, the glass cleaner and upholstery cleaner are the only things which work to some extent. Even the shampoo is pretty average. Try the Liqui Moly plastic care(available in MGA) once. It gives a nice satin finish and looks very natural.

That body polish is as useless as it can get.
