Hahaha. The life of my brake pads are little more than 5K km .

And remember, disc rotors are not measured for run-out in a normal service at the ASC unless you tell the service advisor about have symptoms that you are experiencing OR the car clocks a certain # of kms. Take the SA for a test drive and let him experience/hear it for himself.
Service centre guys were not very interested. As I was running with non MGP pads, they blamed it on them. I have extra set of MGP pads lying around. I will install them and check again with Maruti. Also this had reduced by big margin after they did caliper greasing. It was back within 500 KM.

Also see if you can get performance brake shoes (S-Cross has rear drum brakes, right?) for your car.

In a world where vehicle owners grumble if pads wear out in 30--40K kms this has gotta be a new record in my view at least for domestic non competition family cars.

Just 500 km? Ok so here's what I think is happening and I could be wrong. MSIL's caliper grease loses ability to lubricate due to very high temperatures experienced during your performance runs, calipers do not release fully, as a result of which brake pads and rotors remain partially in contact and run hot continuously. Which also means they don't get to cool off and this leads to warped surfaces (rotors and/or pads) over time. Since you have a spare set of MGP pads install them and take the car right back to the ASC for a rotor check.

I think your analysis is right . Dad messaged me to try out something and I am back home after a short drive. He told me to drive normally and not to use much brakes. He wanted me to check if discs become very hot. I observed that discs did become really hot, even without braking. Guess we found out the culprit .

AC Vent Cleaning :

I got 3M AC Vent Cleaning foam from Amazon for Rs. 200. I had used the same in Baleno and it was totally worth for the price. 3M store charges more than Rs. 1000.

I could clean only 2 vents and the bottle was empty . I am not sure if the bottle had less quantity or AC vents in S-Cross took in more. One bottle was sufficient for 4 AC vents in my Baleno. I will order one more bottle.

Road Force Balancing and Wheel Alignment at Madhus, Mysore

It was more than 7500 KM post WB and WA. I got it done today. The service was good like last time.

The car is doing good. I have filled Shell V power diesel. The performance is slightly better as per Butt dyno. But I have observed that car is smoking more. I will fill regular diesel next time.

Have you noticed any perceptible difference in the performance after the cleaning of AC vents? Just asking you because I had used one such product from another manufacturer but it didn't make any difference.

Do not expect big difference. There is some difference for sure. Air flow gets slightly better. There is pleasant smell too, but it lasts only for a week . I do this mainly to clean the dust inside AC vents.

Which product did you use?

At least there is a pleasant smell in your case because in my case, it had absolutely no effect

I don't remember the exact brand name because it was a long time back but I do remember that it came in a bottle containing around 450 ml of cleaning foam.

I got six bottles of these for myself (three from mine and three from another) because the price was really good compared to what the shop charges for cleaning AC. I emptied two bottles in the i10 through the center vent into the evaporator coil. After some time I could see some liquid collected on the ground which drained through the drain valve and it looked dirty, so i guess it did work.

Reg quantity i think only this much is there and the cans are not really old like some reviews said, they are all late 2017 manufactured. Even using two bottles per car its better than what the shop charges.

PS: If you pump all that in and still the foam does not rise till the vents then there could be leak at the ac ducting joints. When I dumped it in mine expecting the foam to rise till the vent I saw foam leak out through the duct joints behind the dashboard. I could observe this only because the stereo was out as i was doing the HU swap when i decided to clean the AC, with the stereo in place I wouldn't have known.

That explains it all. Thanks

I had cleaned only side vents today and the bottle was empty. It did take really long time for the foam to come out from the vents. The bottle got empty after that. After I started driving, my foot got wet. The foam water was leaking. Now coming to LHS vent, there was leak again. I could see it on the floor and inside glovebox. I had no such experience in Baleno. It was all good.

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

I wanted to change sliding pin set and brake pads to fix steering vibration issue under braking. I got sliding pin set from MGP store and also got EBC green stuff brake pads. Unfortunately the pads did not fit in, I have asked the seller to send the correct part. Do note that S-Cross Europe has different brake pads, we get slightly smaller ones. S-Cross India brake pads are same as old SX4.

Sliding Pin Set :

EBC Green Stuff (Received the wrong part, did not fit)

I would be receiving the right part in 2-3 weeks. But, the current pads were almost gone. I had to drive 300 KM. I had old ASK brake pads in boot (more than 50 percent life left). Dad wanted me to try Rane pads when I changed rotors. ASK was still good, but you have to listen to DAD haha. I went to FNG and installed new sliding pin set and old ASK brake pads. Labour was only Rs. 250. I am happy to report that steering vibration under braking has disappeared now. I am not sure when it would come back though .

Brake Pads History :

1. OE Pads : 14,500 KM
2. OE pads : 7,500 KM
3. Roullunds pads : 4,000 KM
4. Rane pads : 4,000 KM
5. ASK brake pads : 3000 KM and still running

People change their first set at around 35K km and I am on 5th set already . ASK brake pads were the cheapest, but it has got the best bite and lesser brake fade. Love this VFM and good brake pads. Amazon is out of stock now.

I will post more details about EBC brake pads, part number mystery etc after I get the right parts.

Cheers!

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

I observed that only one horn was working. I took the car to service centre and they adjusted / tuned the horn. Now it is working perfectly .

Mysore to Kasaragod drive was effortless as usual. There was no steering vibration under braking. I was driving with grandparents and did not push the car this time. I got 17 kmpl .

Observations by Dad :

1. Power is too much. He says this much is not necessary, revert to stock

2. Engine braking has reduced. He did not like it while descending ghats. This has actually become more prominent with latest Wolf map.

3. Overall FE was impressive considering the driving conditions.

4. Dad was not at all tired, loved the cross over for highway cruising.

5. He is suspecting some issue with clutch cylinder / release bearing. According to him, clutch doesn't release fully. It takes some time. But this happens very occasionally. I will drive the car more and look for it.

Overall the car performed beautifully. Now it's my turn to put 1000 KM more on ODO.

Update :

I drove around 100 KM today. Kasaragod to Mangalore Airport round trip. I did not notice any issue with clutch. I think dad got confused with really quick revving .

Overall FE was 16.5 KMPL. I also observed that car was less aggressive. ECU had adapted to driving style of dad . Thanks to passengers and luggage, I too dint not push the car. I need to get the ECU adapted to my driving style haha.

Temple Runs :

I had to drive with full passengers to few temples. I did not go above 80 kmph and average FE was 19.5 kmpl. The car was pulling very well and no issues with taking steep inclines.
