Body shop manager is fine with both replace or repair of boot door. He suggested me to repair because the 2nd panels from factory won't have sealant and it will be prone to rusting. I hope they will do a good job .

Another issue that can crop up is the dislodging of the request sensor relay or something like that located on the under side of the inner trim of rear floor panel where the lock of boot is located. It may not be the same as Brezza but better to check it.

Check if you can get the rear cross member fabricated from a welder. If you can figure out the dimensions, it should not be a difficult task!

Yes, Maruti has atleast provided the mounts for crash member . I guess at last moment they decided to delete the crash member and save 2k per car .

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM) | EDIT : 5 years & 75,000 km up!

Update: Garrett Intercooler

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210714_175031.jpg

I got it done at Redfox, Kochi. Not really happy with the installation / plumbing.

1. The front crash member is trimmed at the bottom (could have been avoided), anyways the member is too thin in S cross and won't offer any protection in case of major crash.

2. 270 degree bends, not a good design for air flow.

3. All the OE hoses are cut .

4. Turbo outlet hose is pinched / compressed like this

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210714_170507.jpg

5. This hose burst after driving 500+ km

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210720_155709.jpg

Redfox has assured to fix all the issues, but I have to drive all the way to Kochi for it.

I got the temporary fix done at Wagen Tunen, Mangalore. It's not a permanent solution though. The car can be driven, but I don't have the confidence to push it like before.

Garrett core is a good product. It weighs close to 5 kg , OE is just 2 kilos!! I could give a proper feedback only after fixing the plumbing. There is 10 g/s increase in MAF and peak IAT has dropped by 15 degrees. The car is also pulling better at higher speeds / top end.

@ Dr.Naren,

I understand you have SCross Alpha and would not have thought about my following question. Is it possible to retrofit Cruise Control on S-Cross Zeta 1.6 2016 model? If yes, could you please help me with the part numbers?

Yes, it's possible to install cruise control. It's not simply installing the parts. The wiring has to be done along with activation of cruise control by Suzuki diagnostic tool. Few owners have got it done from a guy in Hyderabad.

It's not a workshop. He is a S-Cross owner who has found out the solution and did it for couple of Maruti cars. I have messaged you

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM) | EDIT : 5 years & 75,000 km up!

Dr. S-Cross is back: Ready to fly low again

I had got the car inspected at Abharan Motors, Udupi. They assessed the damage and ordered the following parts.

1. Rear bumper upper
2. Rear bumper lower
3. Rear bumper garnish
4. Rear panel
5. Reverse parking sensors
6. Emblems

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210727_130923.jpg

I kept the car for repairs after a week when all the parts were sourced. Insurance survey and approval was done on very next day. They finished the work in 3 days. I am very impressed with their job, paint matching and finish is excellent.

I have the emblems with me, didn't put them on the car yet. Loving this clean and neat look.

Total bill was around 30k. I had to pay 9k from pocket. The car is 5+ year old and this is my first claim.

Depreciation for various parts / labour

1. Plastic: 50 percent
2. Metal: 40 percent
3. Painting: 12.5 percent (50 percent of the paint material cost, it comes around 12.5 percent of the total amount for painting)
4. Labour: No depreciation, fully covered by insurance

I was also impressed with updates by the dealer in Maruti portal. I got a message with link to log in and it had all details including the pics of car post repair

It would have been really helpful if Maruti had provided rear crash member in S-Cross. I don't see it in any of the newer Maruti cars. My SX4 has it and there was no damage beyond the bumper when I was rear ended by an Alto (Oh yes, Alto again haha).

The car did amazing figures: 202 HP / 438 NM at crank. I will post more details once I receive all the graphs. We did dyno runs of five cars (all S-Cross 1.6) at Harmonixx tuning Bangalore.

Ok bye, need to wash the car

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61

I had issues with the intercooler plumbing. Poor quality rubber hose at the end tank was burst and temporality fixed with another hose. The car used to perform very well during morning and performance was worse when IAT was high.

The culprit: Turbo to IC hose was pinched / compressed

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210714_170507__02__01.jpg

I believe the turbo had to work harder to achieve the requested boost and IAT was going higher. The poor plumbing was really not letting me enjoy the full potential of Garrett IC.

We had also planned dyno session in Bangalore. I wanted to fix the plumbing before it. I drove to Bangalore, thankfully the car made it without any issues .

The car was checked at Engineering Exponents. They did all the fixes within an hour. The hoses at end tanks were changed to silicone. Silicone hose was also put for turbo outlet.

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210805_133612.jpg

These hoses are super strong. They can withstand high temperatures and won't flex.

I took the car out for drive and was mind blown with the performance. Throttle response was so sharp, I can describe it as touch and fly. It felt like I got another remap. Mr. Jayant was also impressed with how the car pulled. We were really happy with the outcome, finally the Garrett IC was performing the way it should be. The car felt powerful all over the revv band. I believe it's due to negligible pressure drop in Garrett cores and also the new silicone hose for turbo outlet as it has better flow than OE.

I noticed dragging sound from rear brakes. It was coming intermittently. The pads were changed only 2000 km back. We decided to have a look and were shocked to observe that the pads weren't installed properly .

Only 50 percent of the inner pad was making contact with the rotor

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210805_181409__02.jpg

The piston slot has to be aligned with protrusion of inner brake pad and it wasn't followed by Redfox Kochi.

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-screenshot_20210811102909__01.jpg

Engineering Exponent installed it properly. They also used brake cleaner, grease for caliper pins, and did a good job.

All the issues were sorted we hit the Dyno. More details in next post!!!
