Yes, I would consider myself lucky here. Me, S-Cross and GLA all were FINE. I just freaked out and tried to get inside the car. But, the car gained momentum. My lower body was outside the car with knees on ground.

Some bad news :

My S-Cross had collided with GLA few days back and there was no significant damage from outside. But, I saw the actual damages when bumper was removed today. I should consider myself very lucky again.

Front member is bent and pushed back

DIY : Cabin air filter cleaning

This is a simple procedure and hardly takes 15 minutes. I had done the same in my Baleno few days back.

How's it done?

1. Remove the glove box : Glove box is removed by pressing the outer edges inwards. S-Cross has a damper too (not there in my Baleno). You need to pull the damper towards right side and then pull the glove box out.

2. Remove the cabin air filter cover and pull the filter out

3. Clean the filter : My filter had lost of dust. I doubt if service guys have cleaned it before.

4. Put it back, make sure that the UP mark on the filter is directing upwards

Note : Cabin air filter was present from factory itself in my car and it's made in Germany

Brake pads changed

My 2nd set of OE brake pads lasted only 7500 KM haha. Yes, I do not blame the pads.. It's because of the super doctor behind the wheel .

I decided to use Roullunds brake pads this time. These pads are so VFM compared to OEM TVS pads (1100 vs 2750). Maruti dealers won't install non MGP parts and I got it installed at Mahindra first choice service centre. They did a good job and labour charge was 350 Rs.

Movell German plate with frames

I had bought them online. Good quality and VFM pricing : 844 Rs.

Please provide feedback on the Roulunds brake pads and a comparison with stock pads once you use them a bit.

Sure. Will do

I will post feedback after driving at least 500 KM. I do not find any difference as of now.

3M store visit :

I got Interior Germkleen plus done, Foam wash was free (Monsoon offer). Interiors were thoroughly cleaned. AC vents were disinfected. 3M guys did a good job. It took around 2 hours. The car smells so good now . S-Cross is listed under "Medium" category now. It was listed under Large category before in 3M system. Good news is that all the 3M treatment rates have come down for S-Cross .

At the condition it is in I think you should probably replace the cabin filter with a new one. The old filter seems clogged and this will affect the amount of air flow I believe.

There was lot of dust but I had not noticed any big reduction in air flow. Post cleaning there is some marginal improvement. I will get it changed at 30K KM service as per owners manual

Doc, please find out, if your filter is the mesh type [usual ones] or the gel type ones. Nowadays, most manufacturers are using gel type filters, for both [ac & air]. This gel type filter is in layers and if you try to clean it [by any means] the dirt will further travel in, clogging your condenser/air intake etc.

I personally replace all these filters at 10K interval, despite a recommendation of 40K [as per M&M] as I travel in dusty places a bit [though I avoid tailing someone just because of this or let go the A pedal if a HCV ahead me is smoking a lot or is leaving a dust storm].

Your 1.6 will thank you profusely

Thanks a lot for this information. Yes, the filter is in layers. I just checked owners manual again and Maruti recommends only replacing at 30K KM for cabin air filter.

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

The car has run more than 22000 KM. I have noticed that the ride has become very stiff since last few days. I can feel every darn thing on the road now . It's more stiff / bouncy at rear. If I put 2 guys in the rear seat, then the ride improves. It was not the case before and the ride was FLAT.

I checked tyre pressure and it was 32 PSI as usual. I dropped it by 2 psi and still no improvement. Also I have observed that the car nose dives under sudden braking from high speeds.

I suspected shock absorbers and took the car to Maruti. SA said everything is normal and asked me to fill nitrogen

Had the same problem with my City. Shocks were weak, but the service guys refused to acknowledge it. I reduced the tire pressures quite a bit to get around it, going as low as 25psi.

They just check if the shocker is leaking. As long as it is not, they can't recommend changing it. Nobody gives two hoots about ride quality or the state of your back.

Finally, I insisted upon a suspension job and had it done. New shockers, and the cushioning is back. Nose doesn't dive anymore. However, rear shocks are still the old ones. Ride quality at the back still sucks.

Beats me as to why these companies charge us a bomb for their cars but use such low quality shock absorbers. Comfort dies in about 20k km or so. I haven't been able to find any decent aftermarket set of shock absorbers for my City.

I will try with MASS again. Will do Road test and compare it with another S-Cross. I will push them to replace under warranty. I had somewhat similar experience in my SX4 few years back and Maruti had changed rear shocks under warranty

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

428 days of Ownership : How much did I spend?

On Road price : 14.28 lakhs
Service costs : 12K
Brake pads (OE & Roullunds ) : 4.5K
Continental MC5 tyres, WA & WB : 31K
Insurance renewal : 24K
Fuel expenses : 90K
Misc : 500Rs

These expenses were unavoidable and the total is 15.9 lakhs

Modifications-accessories ( These could have been avoided )

Machine finished alloys : 24K
Rear black spoiler : 5.5K
Illuminate door sills : 3.3K
Garware sunfilm : 1.7K
Total : 34.5K

Total expenses at 3M car care : 15K

Remaps (TOT & Wolf) : 61K
Decat downpipe & minor intake mod : 16.5K
Dyno @ Racedynamics : 3K
Total : 79.5K

XP Micro fog projector : 16.5K

Misc (Fuel additives, few minor parts etc) : 3.5K

Total amount spent on mods/accessories : 1.5 lakhs

Grand Total : ~17.4 lakhs

I have spent 4065 Rs per day / 80 Rs per KM on my S-Cross till date. It would have been 3714 Rs per day / 72 rs per km if I had not spent on mods.

Why this calculation?

Dad told me that I am investing lot of time and money on S-Cross and asked me to do this.

Well, I spent ~350Rs more per day for mods. Also I have done almost everything and the costs per day will come down. Oh wait, what about 17 inch alloys / tyres, bigger turbo, stage 2 remap?
