The performance has improved after driving for 2 days. Yes, the ECU gets adapted to new changes. Timed the car again and appreciated the improvement

0-100 : 7.3 seconds
My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 70,000 km up!-img_20190318_011938.jpg

That's 4 seconds faster than stock S-Cross 1.6

Quarter Mile : 15.26 seconds
My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 70,000 km up!-img_20190318_011907.jpg

I have noticed very good improvement in top end compared to my Stage 2 setup. There is still more juice to extract after the pending hardware mods. Bigger turbo = More lag , well this upgrade had very little lag and Wolf has fixed it completely in stage 3 map. Yes , Stage 3 S-Cross 1.6 with bigger turbo has much better low end than stock 1.6 !!

Rajiv gave me an updated tune and it's just awesome. Good improvement in timings too

0-100 in 7.06 seconds ( I believe only Octavia RS is faster in cars below 40 lakhs )

1/4th mile : 15.11 seconds

Just to understand how quick the car, this is more than a second faster than Abarth and just 0.14 seconds slower than Octavia RS .

I would be breaking into 14s for sure after the pending hardware mods. We are also checking the possibilities of upgrading to 2.0 MJD injectors from Jeep Compass.

Incredible achievement for a manual diesel car. (45k old clutch with 100s of launches)
I believe you have mastered the art of launching to achieve the best timing for 0 to 100.

Haha, I am surprised with the clutch. It's really strong. I believe it's the same clutch used in 2.0 MJD.

New tyres and new stage 3 map, need more time to perfect the art of launching again . If i get my 0-60 ft timing below 2.3 seconds "consistently"..that would be great.

Humble Maruti cross over doing 0-100 in 7 seconds is an achievement indeed. Not to forget , we are yet to exploit the full potential

That is insane! Congratulations. Time comparable to an Octavia vRS in a diesel Maruti.

How is the turbo-lag?

Thanks .

Stock car is known for turbo lag and sudden turbo kick. The stage 1 map by Wolf had reduced the turbo lag by big margin.

Bigger Turbo = More Lag !!

Yes, I did notice slightly more lag after installing the turbo. The best part is Wolf was able to completely eliminate this minor lag in Stage 3 Map. I can confidently say that my stage 3 car has way lesser lag than stock 1.6 .

Woah. How did I miss these updates? 7s from 1.6 Multijet is really awesome.
BTW, is the new turbo GT15? Is it a direct swap or did you have to use some adapters?

Is the stage 3 map free or did you have to purchase it again?

Also, I am surprised to see you try out so many maps from Wolf. I have been asking the guy for a new map since over a year, but he doesn't seem to care at all, whereas he was ready to come to my house at midnight when I wanted to get it remapped for the first time (typical Indian case of change in quality of service after money changes hands ).

Yes, its GTB1549V. It was almost plug and play except that OE intake pipe had to be enlarged.

It's not free. I should pay around 15k , will do that once map is final .

I believe they contact the customers if there's any updates. Anyways I understand what you are saying, I have experienced the same with other tuners. Wolf has been very supportive to me till date.

Did you talk to Rajiv ?

Incredible achievement dude. Perseverance pays. Now that you've managed to touch a Stock Octavia vRS, what's your next target?

Must also comment that the mechanicals are very robust of the base 1.6 DDIS. Handling such power figures without breaking a sweat is no less of an achievement. Are you planning something about lubes too? I guess with such power output, you should plan for better/more frequent lube replacement.

Regards,
Shashi

I have still not touched , but yes it's pretty close to Octavia RS in quarter mile timing. No targets as such , planning to hit mid 6s 0-100 and mid 14s QM timings.

Wolf has recommended to use fully synthetic engine oil. The car has done close to 50k kms now, will switch to synthetic during next service

There's no doubt that you are producing close to 200 HP going by the 80-100 timings. You are getting around 2 to 2.1 seconds consistently, while the 320d with 190HP needs 2.2-2.3 seconds for the same! 80-100 is important as a measure of power as it removes the FWD traction & the manual gearbox disadvantages that you otherwise face in 0-100 runs.

~200 bhp from your single turbo 1.6L is 125bhp/Liter. For reference, the very latest M550d generates 400 bhp using quad turbos from a 3.0L engine, which is 133 BHP/Liter, and that is one of the best specific outputs that I know of from a diesel engine. Of course, quad turbos will eliminate the lag as compared to your car. Please post some videos of 40-100 or 20-80 in 3rd or something.

How is stock radiator and intercooler handlin the heat? I can't imagine those being designed for 66% more heat rejection than stock.

MAF reading max is 155+ g/s too .

S-Cross 1.6 has super tall gearing. 20 KMPH in 3rd gear is impossible as the RPM would be below 1000 and ECU doesn't let it fall below 1000 rpm and maintains 30 kmph in 3rd gear without even pressing the A pedal. 40 kmph in 4th gear is 1000 RPM. I don't see any point in pushing the car from there and stressing the engine.

Radiator is doing fine but intercooler isn't. IAT shoots up very quickly when I do WOT. It goes up to 30-35 degrees more than ambient temperature.

Yeah, whatever works for the gearing. Like 1400-1500 RPM to redline in 3rd. And of course your usual 0-100 videos too

Next step to improve timings would be to get the secret weapon that the VRS has - limited slip diff! Not sure what kind of diffs are available for the S-cross.

Haha sure !! The car pulls cleanly and strongly till redline in 3rd gear. Car will do speeds above legal limits in 3rd gear, so I will post only till 4000 RPM here later .

I don't think anything is available. Intercooler is the first thing I should upgrade now, it's very much needed.
