Never been a fan of Maruti, but, This car(1.6) and Baleno are changing that perception for Me..
Baleno & S-Cross are really good cars from Maruti stable. I am happy to own both. S-Cross 1.6 has loads of torque and Baleno 1.2 petrol is a sweet revving engine

I never thought I would be able to write ownership reviews in Team-Bhp. Now I have written 5 reviews in last 5 months . I am planning to write long term reviews of 800 and ambassador next. These 2 cars were bought before I was born.

Congratulations on the car.

I too have booked the S-Cross, the 1.3 variant though. The 1.6 at the moment is too much of a stress and for a car which is going to see the city roads for most of its lifestyle, I felt 1.3 is good enough (At least that's how I am convincing myself )

Keep the thread updated!!

1.3 is not underpowered. It is best choice for city drives thanks to light clutch and minimal turbo lag. I drive 1.3 SX4 too (but remapped).

A well deserved 5 stars to your review buddy !!
Wish you loads of happy miles with your car!!

Get 3M PPF(though costly) to some areas like corners of front bumper, door handles(as these are not chrome ones like in the baleno)

Eagerly waiting to see your car in flesh with those drooling Brezza alloys (Probably if I come over to Manglore to get software update for Baleno-Recall)

Congrats Doc on your latest acquisition. So what next in your garage??? You do have loads of parking space , so we can expect a new car review every 3 months

I will get PPF only for door handles when I go to 3M store for wrapping ORVM & grill.

Do PM me if you come down to mangalore.

I don't think no new car would be in my garage anytime soon. Grand i10 would be the first car to leave and I wish to get new Figo diesel as replacement

Congratulations Dr. Naren !!!

The Alloy wheel really stands out and it is an attention grabber. 24K for this is really a good price. I will be visiting the service centre during this week end for the brake repair recall. Let me also enquire about this alloy wheel from Brezza.
The dilemma I face is that I have already run ~15K KMs on the stock alloys and I will not be finding any one to buy my original alloys.

Hi Dr.Naren, very nice and crisp review. Congratulations!

I would like to take this opportunity to correct the common misconception about just looking at the torque, which gives a misleading picture. You actually need to see the power of the engine, and not the torque. More importantly, the power band dictates how your car responds.

Horsepower = speed (RPM) x torque (ft-lbs) / 5252

You can see this in the real world if you compare the S Cross 1.6's 0-100 timings with the (even heavier) 126 BHP Creta, that has a very wide power band.

These alloys are MGA for Brezza and not for S-Cross. But you can easily get if from any Maruti dealer. Buyback of stock alloys is such a pain.

Power is not the only parameter buddy. Torque is important too. 0-100 timing is not the only criteria to compare performance. Yes, S-Cross 1.6 is little slower than Creta. Numerous other parameters like gear ratios, ECU tune etc come into play. Drive both Creta and 1.6 S-Cross back to back and you will know which car has better real world performance

Dr.Naren thanks for elaborate ownership review. Whenever situation permitting, I would request you to try a hard run / spin and see how the rear seat passengers respond to turbo kicks! I remember MI10 observing that this car is suitable for torque of 400Nm. I am not sure of this about rear seats! If possible please check this.

Rear seat passengers have understood the turbo kick of 1.6. They were like this car is way faster and turbo kick is very prominent compared to my SX4/grand i10. I love turbo kicking in feel but few dislike it and prefer linear power delivery.

Congratulations on the scross 1.6 doc. In my opinion if it has to be the scross then it has to be a 1.6. The 1.3 is too boring and lethargic(personally have never been a fan of the 1.3+vgt combo). Good job convincing your father for the 1.6. Great choice of alloys, they totally transform the look. Did you check about the alloys from Ciaz? They look classy.

Drive safe!

Thanks buddy!!

I don't find 1.3 boring to drive but it not exciting too. Ciaz alloys won't fit S-Cross because it has 4 holes. Ciaz alloys are direct swap for Baleno and planning to get it done soon.
