I don't find 1.3 boring to drive but it not exciting too. Ciaz alloys won't fit S-Cross because it has 4 holes. Ciaz alloys are direct swap for Baleno and planning to get it done soon.
Very nice review. Learned few new things. Thanks.

When are you coming to Bengaluru? Still waiting for those discarded shoes

Congratulations Naren on your purchase. I drove the 1.6 and 1.3 s-cross and I felt the 1.3 is just another ordinary vehicle, while the 1.6 is in a totally different league altogether. I did not want the test drive to end!!

I did not feel the clutch to be too heavy. The test drive vehicle had a heavy clutch and when I reported this to the SA, he showed me a new vehicle which had just arrived and that had a very light clutch. Not sure how there could be such a difference between the two.

Just curious to know where in Mangalore you are located. Are you a doctor practicing in Mangalore?

I second that buddy. TD cars had heavy clutch and little notchy gearshifts. But it is way better in my car.

I just finished my MBBS and preparing for entrance exams. I work as casualty medical officer in K S Hegde hospital. I do not live in Mangalore. I stay in Kasaragod.

Congrats Dr. Naren on your 1.6 SCross. I never thought Kwid is wider than I10 and SX4 (or is it some visual effect created by the photo).

Also nice comparison with the Tractor.

Thanks buddy!!

Kwid just looks bigger due to camera angles. Also flat bonnet with muscular lines make it look wider.

Congrats on the new ride Dr Naren. The S-cross might not be a hot seller like the Creta is but I am sure that each and every S-cross owner drools over that 1.6 litre DDIS and the solid driving dynamics.
I must say that those alloys suit the car well and also compliment the white colour at the same time.Wish you miles of happy motoring with one of the most driver oriented cars in the Indian market doc.

I completely agree with what you have said. Creta will satisfy the majority with looks, features & space. S-Cross is a better driving machine any day. Addictive performance, mature handling and solid brakes make 1.6 S-Cross a perfect driver's car in the segment .

Hearty congratulations for the awesome looking S-Cross. Thanks to the suggestion by Leoshashi, the bland side profile of the S Cross has transformed, and this is one of the best S-Cross' I have ever seen.

Which engine would you suggest for city driving?? Is the 1.6 very hard to drive in the city when compared to the 1.3?? Though I love the 1.6, I am hesitant about going with it, as its future is yet undecided.

1.3 is comparatively better than 1.6 for city driving. Now I am used to driving 1.6 in city and it's really not that hard. Clutch and gearshifts are better in my car compared to 3 TD cars I have driven.

1.3 is easy to drive in city

1.6 is comparatively little harder (but "turbo lag" is overhyped)

1.3 is decent on highways and will transport you from point A to point B without any complains.

1.6 will just pull and pull on highways and make sure to put up numerous smiles on your face .

Unhappy With Stock Projectors :

I am not happy with output of stock projectors. It is only little better than halogen in terms of width. I have noticed vibration of projectors on bad roads. Today I was shocked to see that chrome lining surrounding the lens is getting chipped off. Very disappointed with the quality. Would Maruti replace it under warranty?

I too have experienced this whenever I go over bad roads. Regarding the chrome lining being chipped off, yes Maruti is bound to replace it under warranty. Regarding the light out put, the culprit is the 25W HIDS being given as stock. I guess we need to upgrade to a 35W or 55W ones.

Maruti has to replace the entire headlight assembly under warranty. They won't replace only projector because workshop won't open the headlights. Increasing the ballast to higher wattage would burn the reflector bowl of stock projector. Ideal upgrade is to replace the entire projector setup.

The entire headlamp unit is sealed, hence replacing only the projector is not possible as per OEM standard. I feel the projectors would easily accommodate a 35W unit but from where can we source the D5S type HID since I believe it's one of the rare ones.
