I will try another car from a different dealer. Thanks for the suggestion.
I tried a friend's 1.6 S Cross few days back inside city only. My current car is 1.6 CRDI Fluidic Verna. Noise inside the cabin of S Cross was too loud in comparison. Person loving silent cabins like me may not like S Cross. Had a TD of 1.6 S Cross at Nexa few months back. As far as I remember the noise is quite OK at cruising speeds on highways, though higher than Verna. During TD I could take the car upto triple digit speeds & at that speed the car felt rock solid.

@ Dr. Naren - will you please inform FE on tank full method in city & highway and at what speed. My other friend having a 1.3 S Cross is very happy with the FE. In city he is getting 19/20 where as in same city ( Bhubaneswar) I am getting 15 kmpl only. Just trying to evaluate how less fuel efficient 1.6 would be in comparison to 1.3 S Cross.

13000 KM Done

I had been to Bangalore via mysore last week. I have clocked around 1000 KM in a week. Car performed really well on coorg ghats, highways etc. Driving in Bangalore traffic was also not an issue. Also, I met BHPian KiloAlpha and did all out testing: Stock vs Remapped 1.6 S-Cross. Details are posted on my TOT remap thread.

Car was very dirty after 1000 KM drive and I spent good 2 hours to make her shine again. What else to do on Sunday morning

Fuel consumption is directly proportional to throttle input. I have got worst FE: 13 kmpl and best FE: 25.5 kmpl. Under normal driving conditions, I get 14-15 kmpl in city and 20-22 kmpl on highways.

I have noticed few scratches on underside of front bumper. S-Cross has tendency to scrap at front. It was same in my SX4 too. These scratches are not visible anyways

Hello Naren, I happened to spot your car this evening at Vijaynagar,Mysore. The alloys and the blackened parts makes the car look mean and sexy. I believe it's already one of the fastest S cross in the country. Waiting for your next mod

Haha, yes it should be me only . I am in same area. Which car were you driving? My S-Cross is FAST, fastest I don't know . As of now, you could say it's the fastest one documented on Web.

15000 KM Done :

The car has run more than 15K KM and front brake pads are already gone. This was shocking to me as I have usually got around 35K Km pad life in my other cars. OE brake pads cost 2750 Rs. I have a set of Roullunds brake pads which I had got few months back for 1200 Rs. I will install them. Also the car has got few more mods.

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

I had to take my car on long distance highway drive. My brake pads were worn out and I have a set of Roullunds brake pads at my home in Kasaragod. But I am in Bangalore right now and had to change the brake pads. Since the OEM pads lasted only 15K KM, I wanted to try Bosch pads. I went to Bosch company owned service centre in Electronic city and they did not have the pads for S-Cross. I went to Suraksha motors service centre(Maruti dealer) , hardly 1 KM away. They had the part in stock and new pads were put. It hardly took 30 minutes.

I went out of the showroom and I could notice drop in pick up. After driving 2 KM, there was some kind of burning smell. I got out of the car and was shocked to see smoke coming from front right disc. I went back to service centre and found out that front right wheel was jammed. I mean you can't move it with your hand. It was so tight. Service guys opened the caliper pin and greased it. The problem was solved. I don't understand why they did not do the greasing or at least check it before handing over the car.

Bill attached : 3187 Rs including labour just for Front brake pads

That sounds like some really shabby work by Maruti Dr.Naren. In fact, this reminds me of an issue I had on my GT.

A tiny pebble was lodged in between the brake pad and the Disc and I felt like my Car was on some sort of harness every time I tried to pull away.

The biggest downer of the entire episode was that the pebble had sliced through the brake disc and resulted in me changing the entire set including the rotors!!

Please check if there are any additional issues.

A Visit to 3M Mysore Store :

I had wrapped ORVM, rear strip above number plate in gloss black from 3M Mangalore. But they had done a bad job and it was already peeling off. So I decided to remove that and wrap it again.

What was done?

1. Carbon Fibre wrap on ORVM and rear strip

2. Satin black wrap on front grill

3. UV Protect treatment

Total damage : ~3600 Rs

UV protect treatment includes foam wash, interior cleaning, engine dressing, dashboard dressing and hand wax application. They have done a great job and finish of the wrap is just perfect. Also they have provided warranty for the wrap.

Let the pictures talk :

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

I have driven almost 1000 KM post brake pads change. The new OEM pads have better bite and I don't find the braking average anymore. I think the particular batch of OEM pads were of poor quality. Most of the owners have complained about replacing brake pads within 20K Km.

I drove from Mysore to Mangalore few days back. The roads were literally empty at night. It was a nice drive through Coorg. We took only 4 hours and also got excellent FE of 20.9 KMPL.

I will change the air filter soon as it's really dirty and I wonder why Maruti recommends 40K KM interval for air filter change. I am planning to change it every 15K KM.

I had mentioned on my other thread that I would be moving away from TOT remap as they were not able to meet my requirements and considering Quantum UK remap. But I need to wait till June as the tuner Akshay is going to UK for further training. I am also in touch with Rajiv, Wolf Moto. I would consider Wolf remap too if he can provide switchable maps. Rajiv is very brainy and has the expertise to crack ECU codes. Let's see what he could do for 1.6 .

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

Hi
Congratulations on the S cross even though its a little late in the day!!!!

I too have bought the S cross 1.6 after trying a load of cars. I was totally floored by the torque and the road manners and contrary to public opinion I happen to really like the way the car looks in both Silver and white. Still to get delivery of my car and it now joins my list of honda s!

Would you or any other S cross owner have the wheel specs of this car???? I too will change the alloys and tyres. I read somewhere on TBHP that the wheel is 16inch, 114.3 PCD, 5 Bolt , Offset 50 and hub size is 60.1. Can anyone confirm this?

I have momo s on my civic and there is absolutely no issues using spigot rings or hub centric rings if needed. In fact its essential as the momo s are 72.1 in size and my civic hub was 64.2 if i remember and u definately need a ring to fill that gap and center the wheel for perfect mounting. My only concern in the momo is the 7J width compared to 6J of stock alloys. Am currently in the process of buying the alloys and tyres so any information will be useful

Thanks and regards

You can absolutely go for the MOMOs with the equivalent PCD. Am using the MOMO revenge with Michelin P3STs, stock size.

The picture of the engine bay shows your battery to be of Panasonic make. This is a new thing for me. Never knew the company was into batteries too. A google search later, I see that it has batteries for almost all Indian cars.
