re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

EBC Yellow stuff!!

I have driven more than 1000 kms and the pads have fully bedded in.

1. The aggressive initial bite which I had noticed before is not there now. I guess it's due to the brake-in coating present on EBC Pads. I still like the bite though, it's progressive and good.

2. High speed braking is excellent. There is not much noise too.

3. Brake fade: This is where the yellow stuff really excels. Brake fade is minimal even after back to back high speed braking. I am very happy about this and it matters a lot for my kind of driving

Left lower arm

The price is Rs. 1525 and it's in transit from Boodmo.

Monroe front stabiliser link rods

I have ordered them from Boodmo and the order is still under processing. I have observed that MGP link rods keep going bad very early in almost all cars these days. Hope Monroe would be better.

Wolf Map update

I am planning to get a new map with slightly more mid and top end. Tuner has suggested that it won't be safe for the turbo, anyways I am planning to go for a turbo bigger than the current big turbo if it bursts after aggressive tune

Stay tuned!!!

Your absolutely right about the stabilizer links going bad frequently.I too have gone for talbros this time from a external source rather then mass.Hope they turn our to be good and long lasting.

Did you finally get the down-pipe for your sx4?I am waiting to
do this mod and also giving it a good thought about a upgraded turbo. Just waiting for the tuner to get back on this.

Not yet. Plan is postponed to next year along with turbo upgrade. Rest of the 2020 is dedicated for S-Cross

Left lower arm

I got MGP from Boodmo for Rs. 1525. It's made by Talbros.

Front stabiliser link rods

Sourced from Boodmo. Price is Rs.485 per piece. It's made by Talbros again. Maruti has 4 different parts which would fit S-Cross, may be different suppliers. I hope this lasts longer. Part number is 42420M55K02.

Hi DrNaren

Are you sure that the Baleno rear brake pads fit the 1.3 rear brakes?

Yes, the dimensions are same. OE rear pads of S-Cross are SGP and cost 6k+. MGP ones for Baleno are much cheaper. Brembo is another option at less than half price of OE. Check out the link below.

100-0 kmph braking tested!!

I used dragy to measure the braking distance / time. There is massive improvement with EBC Yellow stuff brake pads. OE setup braking distance is 50+ metres and the difference is more than 2 car lengths compared to my setup.

This is my setup:

1. EBC Yellow stuff pads at front
2. Dixcel slotted rotors at front (almost plain now haha)
3. EBC Ultimax 2 pads at rear
4. OE rotors at rear

I am planning to get Brembo OE replacement rotors soon. Yellow stuff pads made a huge difference even on almost done dixcel slotted rotors, I don't think it's worth spending again on slotted rotors.

I got it done at Drive 2 , Mangalore. The product is decent, little expensive if compared to the options available in Bangalore / Kochi.

Parts were sourced from Boodmo, installed at Maruti service centre. Labour charge was Rs.628. I used loyalty points and the tax amount of Rs.100 was not covered under points, paid the amount. Steering feels slightly heavier after new link rods.

Haha, Altura is my uncle's car . I would be more than happy if I could get that from him and start modifying.

The car has done more than 63k Kms and going strong. Few mods / replacements are to be done soon. Perfinzas are good for another 2-3k kms, planning to get Continental UC6. I am also considering to install Eibach lowering springs. Basic audio upgrade is also being evaluated .

Clicked these 2 pics yesterday night, quick drive to experience the bioluminescence at a beach near Udupi.
