Few of my friends have used and they are happy with these pads. OE Maruti pads are also by TVS , but they charge double price .

TVS Girling has three caregories of brake pads

Dura
Super
Hi-Per

The Dura is aimed towards longevity. Super is the middle performance. HiPer are the ceramic ones

re: My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha : Stage 3 Wolf (~200 HP / 420 NM). EDIT : 5 years & 72,000 km up!

I drove around 1000 Kms recently.

Manipal -> Mangalore -> Madikeri -> Mysore -> Bangalore -> Hassan -> Shiradi -> Mangalore -> Manipal

Roads were in good condition except for Hassan to Sakleshpur stretch. Thanks to lowered car and my negligence, I crashed into few potholes at high speeds.

Injuries:

Nothing major, got really lucky with the oil sump

I noticed huge sound from rear brakes while driving though Shiradi ghat, rear pads were done. I had spare pads with me, but it was early in the morning. I continued the drive till Mangalore.

At Wagen Tunen , Mangalore

Rear rotors were skimmed

EBC pads lasted for around 20k Kms, only one pad was fully worn out and rest had around 50 percent material left. I guess there is some issue with the brake caliper.

Wagen Tunen is a professional multibrand workshop in Mangalore. Owner is very transparent, open to suggestions and mainly focuses on customer satisfaction.

I noticed loud sound from rear after driving 40 Kms. I was not sure about the issue and didn't want to risk driving back to Wagen Tunen. I went to a newly opened FNG in Udupi called AutoFix. Caliper sliding pins were greased and the sound has disappeared now. Rear caliper is under observation, uneven brake pad wear is not normal. I will check the brake pads after 1000 Kms and then decide on overhauling / replacing the caliper. I have used after market Driveline brake pads which is 10x cheaper than OE pads.

I enjoyed the drive especially at Coorg, Blore-Hasssn highway and Shiradi. Eibachs were super impressive along with KYB dampers and P4ST tyres. Car was never this sure-footed and I am loving it. Not to forget the amazing audio upgrade too

I won't be using the car for next 3 months. I would be driving my Baleno, revving a petrol is something which couldn't be replaced by even 200 HP diesel

Hello, Dr. Naren. I have to say your thread is an encyclopedia for S-Cross owners. Many thanks for sharing all the info with such great detail.

My car is due for brake pads replacement. I have ordered the TVS Hi-per for the fronts and the Driveline ones for the rear. The OEM rear pads' pricing is atrocious to say the least. How are the driveline pads holding up on your beast? Are they a good enough alternative to the OEM ones?

There is very minimal braking from the rear in S-Cross. I don't find any difference with Driveline pads. They are damn cheap and if they are performing as good as OE, decent enough!!

I am planning to further upgrade the ICE

I would be getting Pioneer DEQ-S1000A DSP and Rockford Fosgate Power T600-4 Amplifer. Hope this upgrade gives me the best out of Gladen RS components

Good choice, have been using the DSP for a while and it totally changes the experience, more so than an amp. Would recommend getting a JL amp over the Rockford.

100-0 Kmph braking: Dragy figures

The braking has improved by 2 metres after Eibach lowering springs and Michelin P4ST tires compared to the previous data with Perfinzas, EBC brakes, and OE springs. Do note that I am running on KBX pads at front and Driveline at rear. The braking should improve further with EBC pads which I was using earlier. I believe the lowering springs made a good improvement in braking

I was not planning to use the car till May as I wanted to drive the Baleno more. But, the plans change and I ended up driving 1000+ Kms in a day.

What happened ???

ICE Itch

Details to be posted soon!!

ODO has crossed 70k Kms, time for service. I might get it done at good FNG this time.

I have posted in detail about the ICE upgrade here.

Overall, I am very happy with the outcome. It's a totally different listening experience and music sounds great now compared to the average stock setup

70,000 Km service done at Wagen Tunen, Mangalore!

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210320_112327.jpg

The car is out of warranty and Maruti labour charges are not really cheap anymore. Hence I decided to look at other options. Wagen Tunen is a good workshop in Mangalore and they are authorised to service FCA cars. I had been to them for minor works before.

What was done ?

Routine Maintenance

1. Engine oil change: Motul X-cess 5W40
2. Engine oil filter change: Zip
3. Engine air filter change: MGP of S-Cross 1.3
4. Wash and interior vacuum

Additional

1. New Rear caliper sliding pins (SGP)
2. New boot balancers (MGP)

Engine oil: Rs.3500

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210320_081945.jpg

I had good experience with this oil in my SX4. This is not ACEA C2 spec oil as recommended by Maruti for S-Cross 1.6. Anyways I don't believe in sticking to C2 criteria as our cars don't get DPF.

Engine oil filter: Rs. 170

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210320_081904.jpg

I had used the same filter before, didn't face any issues. SGP filter is 4x more expensive. Zip is super VFM.

Engine air filter: Rs. 280

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210320_081749.jpg

I always use this filter and not the more expensive SGP filter of 1.6.

Rear caliper sliding pins: Rs. 1430

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210320_121146.jpg

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210320_121201.jpg

Wagen Tunen had sourced these for me. During my last visit, we had noticed uneven wear of rear pads.

Boot balancers: Rs. 1130

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210320_080627.jpg

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210320_080740.jpg

Old balancers were fully weak and I had to literally lift the boot. It was also risky as the boot would come down at times.

New issues noticed

Minor oil leak from rear KYB shocks

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210320_115755.jpg

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210320_115749.jpg

This engine mount is slightly weak. Wagen Tunen will source the new part.

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210320_115659__01.jpg

Other points

Front KBX pads after 5000 Kms

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img20210320wa0020.jpg

I am really impressed. My usual brake pads life is 6-7k kms. I guess the change in my driving style after audio upgrade is the reason for good life of pads .

Uneven brake pad wear and cracks (Rear right)

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210320_121532.jpg

These are super cheap Driveline brake pads. I did have issues with rear caliper and new sliding pins are installed now. The pads are fine on the other side, can't really comment if pads are not of good quality. I will check the condition after 1k kms.

Service bill

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-screenshot_20210322114813__01.jpg

Total cost: Rs. 8887

It would have been around 5k, if not for additional items like rear caliper pins and boot balancers

Wagen Tunen did a really nice job. They are very professional and attention to detail is very impressive. A whatsapp group is created for every car which comes for service. They post all the updates there. It helps in documentation and easy to track. This place is highly recommended. I plan to fix minor dents and painting at Wagen Tunen. Their paint booth and the work looks good.
