Michelin P4ST: 5000+ Km

I am very impressed with these tyres. They are super silent, low noise and comfortable. Grip is good but not the best like Perfinzas.

This is how they look now

I used to get only 20-25k kms tyre life in S-Cross. For sure the Michelins would give me double life .

Lenso wheels and Eibach springs have totally changed the character of the car, I am in love with the stance. Painting the calipers also turned out to be a good Idea

I was charged Rs. 800 for painting of 4 calipers. They applied 2 coats.

I do not know if it's just me, but the design of alloy reminds Punto alloys, in positive way. Can it be because it's by Lenso? And painting the calipers in red looks just great.

Motul X-Cess 5W40: 500+ Km

I am super impressed with this engine oil. The engine was never this silent and free revving even when it was new. Motul has exceeded my expectations.

Rear Shocks

Rear KYBs have developed minor leak after 13k Kms. I came across a brand called ARC suspension and was planning to give it a try. Thanks to Team BHP, I found a detailed thread about the issues faced in an I20. I have 10k Kms run OE shocks with me. There are no major trips anytime soon, will change them along with engine mount.

Engine Mount

The part has been ordered by Wagen Tunen, should arrive in a week or two.

Any more mods in pipeline ?

1. Garrett Intercooler
2. Direct Air Intake

I hope we can push the power a little more after these mods, Rajiv should be able to do his magic.

~5 year old / 70k+ Kms run...Does it look so ?

Haha! This is absolutely epic! When the post first loaded, I thought you had wrapped the car (you absolutely got me there! ). But, I must say, the S-Cross does look super good in that Fake Taxi Livery! Also, love the red one, suits the S-Cross very well.

Darker colors definitely suit the S cross better because of all the black cladding and plastics. The car looks quite overdone with all the cladding, black pillars, stickers etc. on bright colors.

A deep metallic color, perhaps a bottle green like this will look nice.

Things look out of place otherwise. The white car doesn't do justice to those beautiful rims.

5 Years with S-Cross

My Maruti S-Cross 1.6L Alpha | Stage 3 Wolf (202 HP / 438 Nm) | EDIT : Sold - Pg 61-img_20210516_112343.jpg

It is exactly 5 years today since I bought the car. Current ODO is 72k Kms. Thanks to this car, I learnt a lot on modifications. Engine, suspension, brakes, lighting, ICE, wheels.. everything has got an upgrade .

I never baby the car a lot on road, it has seen lot of pedal to metal driving, 0-100 launches, aggressive cornering, high speed braking and what not..still the car has been super reliable. I never had to tow the car even once in last 5 years considering the modifications done and the crazy doctor behind the wheel, haha!!.

Let me summarise the ownership experience.

Routine Service

I strictly followed the mandatory things mentioned in user manual for every service and didn't opt for any additional jobs, this helps in reduction of service costs. The car underwent all the services at Maruti except the 70k kms one which was done at a reputed FNG.

Parts changed under warranty

1. Front right strut
2. Rear shocks
3. Rear suspension beam
4. Steering column
5. Glow plug x 1
6. Brake switch

Parts changed: Paid

1. Right side AC vent
2. Boot balancers
3. Stabilizer link rods
4. Brake caliper sliding pins (front & rear)
5. Left lower arm
6. Driver side ORVM (child parts) due to damage
7. Front strut mounts and bearings
8. Turbo to IC hose

Wear & Tear parts:

1. Tyres: JK Elanzo, Continental MC5, and MRF Perfinza. Current shoes are Michelin P4ST.

2. Brake pads: I have used more than 10 sets of front brake pads and 2 sets of rear brake pads in 65k kms. It's purely because of my driving which has changed for the good recently. It was a welcome transition from pedal to metal to cruising. I have tried super cheap to super expensive brake pads and all have given similar life. EBC yellow stuff was the best I tried till date.

3. Brake rotors: I had upgraded to Dixcel slotted rotors (front) at around 40k kms. Rear rotors were skimmed once at 68k kms.

4. Wiper blades: I have changed the front wiper blades thrice.

5. Battery: The OE Panasonic battery is still working, but doing the duty in my SX4. I am running Amaron in S-Cross.

Modifications (Current Setup)

Engine: Wolf Moto stage 3 remap, Blackworks downpipe, and Garrett GTB1549V Turbo

Suspension: KYB shocks and Eibach lowering springs

Wheels: Lenso Jager Dyna

Tyres: Michelin P4ST in OE size

ICE: Gladen speakers & subwoofer, Rockford amplifier, and JVC HU

Lighting: Bi-Xenon fog projectors

Misc: Euro grill, Satin black wrap on A & C pillars, Rear spoiler, Black ORVM covers, Illuminated door sills, and Sport pedals

What's Pending ?

1. Replacement of Engine torque rod. The part has been already sourced by the FNG, waiting for the lockdown to end.

2. Intercooler Upgrade: Can't wait for this!! Pending since really long time and I am not doing justice to my 200 HP engine.

This is the car I have driven the most and in love with the ownership / modifications experience.

Cheers!!

@Dr.Naren, Congratulations on the milestone
Car still looks fresh and clean after all these years. And, good to know that there are more mods in pipeline to make fast car faster.

All the best.

Thanks buddy!!

Yes, the car has aged well. It's not fully clean as there are minor scratches and dents, though not very prominent .

Plan is get the intercooler upgrade first. That should be the end of performance related mods.

Even with enthusiastic driving style, 10 sets of brake pads sound a lot. Were you replacing them prematurely for added performance or were they wearing out so fast?
