From the video, 0-100 time looks like at 10+ seconds. Should not it be well under the 10s for a 200HP engine? The RPMs seem to be hitting the redline meaning accelerator pedal is floored. Just curious.

Nice exhaust sound BTW!

It's not a proper 0-100 run The video was taken only to capture exhaust sound.

The car does 0-100 in 6.9 seconds (timed using dragy GPS device).

One of the old 0-100 video. The car was running stock intercooler, intake, and muffler here.

Cool. My other car is SX4 (1.6L NA) so just curious.
Did they bump it up to 200HP without a turbo? That seems like a huge bump. What about reliability? Can the parts which are designed to withstand ~120HP take 200HP?
I know I should probably read the whole thread but taking a shortcut. :-)

Incidentally, I just got my Audi Q5 bumped to 255HP/430Nm from engineering exponent and their guy, seeing my SX4, told me cars like SX4 have the most potential in terms of bumping up the HP, so asking now.

Cheers!

My car is S-Cross 1.6 (turbo diesel). I did upgrade turbo, intercooler, intake, and exhaust to support 200+ HP . The car is running reliable so far even with redlining the engine very often .

Yes, you can add turbo in SX4. But it won't be a simple mod.

I would love to own such a car (A maruti with under 0-100 under 7s).
Driving pleasure aside, bigger (bit sadistic I must admit ) pleasure would be to stun the entry level (those 2.0tdi, xdrive 20d and 220d) German/Swedish/British car brandowners on the highway! I am sure you have some interesting tales to share!

I spent half an hour going through this thread and I'm really loving it (200hp/438nm from a Maruti, who would've thought )

If I may ask, how much did the entire build cost you from start to present day? (Excluding the cost of the car).

I am looking at used SX4 1.6 Petrol models as a potential first car, mostly because it essentially runs a detuned version of the M16A engine that is also used in the 1st and 2nd gen Swift Sport (which can be pushed well past 250hp with mods). Your S-Cross thread has given me hope that maybe tuning up modern maruti cars (2010+) is very much possible.

Cheers

I don't remember the exact price now. I will try to post the figures for the current setup in my car

4. Garrett intercooler and plumbing: Rs. 40,000
5. HPI filter and plumbing: Rs. 12,000
6. Garrett GTB1549 turbo and installation: Rs. 70,000
Total: Rs. 2,00,000

Well there's a figure I didn't expect, the Audio upgrades alone cost more than the cost of the performance upgrades + tyres, brakes and suspension. Even if you add everything except the audio upgrades it would only go to 3,50,000. Now I'm not judging your audio upgrades in any way, one of the only things I can justify spending huge amounts of money on outside automotive is audio equipment so I understand (I will use a cheap Vivo for 4 years straight but will the first in line to spend 30k on a nice set of Sony's, I'm not innocent here)

But that is actually cheaper than I expected to be honest, I've seen people make visual/audio upgrades to their Swift's and Scorpio's that cost 4 lakh (maybe my dreams of a Forced Induction 1.6 SX4 aren't that unattainable after all)

I was looking into importing a Rotrex supercharger from Singapore originally made for a 2012-2017 Swift Sport as the indian SX4 Petrol essentially runs a detuned version of the same engine. (Rotrex are a danish company based out of Copenhagen that make superchargers for a lot of cars and even motorcycles) but thanks to you I've found out that the turbo route is much cheaper (the supercharger alone would've cost 3 lakh excluding shipping, taxes and installation)

I'd expect a new thread for a Turbo SX4 project car coming up in about 1.5-2 years, can't let your S-Cross be the only super fast turbo-charged maruti on the forum

It is not that expensive because the upgraded turbo was a direct fit in my car. Turbocharging NA petrol for sure would cost lot more depending on how much you wish to push the car. Running higher boost would need engine rebuild.

I too own SX4, but diesel engine. Plan is to install the OE turbo of S-Cross and hit 130-140 hp . Looking forward for you SX4 turbo build, the chassis begs for handling more power

This is very interesting. Are you saying first gen petrol SX4 (late 2000s) can have a turbo (M16A engine) and will be able to handle higher HP/torque? I would consider that for my Naturally Aspirated petrol SX4. Checking the engine family must be possible from VIN. Right?

Yes, one car I could never seem to get why people ignored was the SX4 Petrol, as far as my research goes the only difference between the Swift Sport M16A and the Indian SX4 Petrol M16A is the state of tune.

I think 160-170hp is what you could safely go to on stock internals, anything beyond that I would invest in forged pistons and conrods (you can find them for around 80,000 )

If you want to push an SX4 to over 200hp you're probably gonna be spending a good amount of money. But the thing is if you push the engine it can handle a lot of power (if you have strong internals)

These 2 videos are the ones that made me look into the SX4 Petrol as a potential tuner car. The first one is from CTC Performance, a UK Based tuning company and the other is random video from Greece.

I would still argue that the R18 Civic has more potential for around the same price on the used market but the SX4 is definitely more capable than people give it credit
