Hi Ace, congratulations brother on the awesome ride.
The truck is indeed a looker, I have one question, did you face any ownership transfer issues?, since the ban on diesel vehicles in Delhi/NCR.

There's a reason toyota's are such highly regarded cars. They are really built to last. Love the mods on the car. Had a friend who recently bought a fortuner used and is simply in love with it. The fortuner would be my pick to drive on dusty rural Indian roads and explore places. Have fun! Cheers

Am giving a serious thought to buying it, but there would be an inevitable backlash from the folks at home. Anyway, sorry for derailing your thread

Wish you many happy adventures ahead
No worries. I love V-Cross for sheer VFM it offers. Buy it at current prices and soup it up, it will still be cheaper than some of the comparable options in market! Not to mention the reliability due to simple construction, it's a tried/tested vehicle for years in Down-under Outbacks. Thanks a lot for your wishes.

Thanks Amit. Ban is on new vehicle registration, not on pre-registered ones. Transfer progress is still underway.

The images are in no particular order.

This is one vehicle which has been with me from Bihar to Bangalore, Diu to Delhi, Leh to Lucknow. Has seen almost all the national parks within radius.

Lot of stories connected to this. Been ages since I have written anything or doled out any advice cause fanboys flog you to death

Will post whatever pics I can get as Ace has requested.

Re: Trucking in my Atlntis! My Pre-Worshipped Toyota Fortuner 3.0L 4x4 MT

Congratulations on the purchase of my dream car.I wish to have a Fortuner 4X4 some day in my garage. It is one heck of a car and due to its bulletproof reliability and completely fuss-free ownership I prefer it any day over a XUV.XUV owners please forgive me.
Please keep maintaining this initial ownership log and gradually transform it into a Long-Term Ownership Review. Your log is a great inspiration to anybody looking out to buy a preowned Fortuner. Wish you thousands of happy miles ahead.

Definitely dude. The biggest problem is my profession. I am a doctor. Bought the beast and never found time to enjoy it. That aside, I just love the tension free maintenance that comes along with it. It is very very crude, I am aware but it's my truck. Planning on having a 520d besides it. But this is one truck that you can still own and manage until at least 20 years considering the reliability and my usage. Cheerio and welcome to the beast club.

Congratulations Ace on your new buy. I own a Corolla Altis for the last 6 years and the ownership experience is similar.

Fortuner is at the top of my buy list and twice in the last 2 years, I have come close to buying it. However, backed off later due to the ride quality issues. Hope in the upcoming 2016 variant these are sorted out. The only downside is that the looks have gone from butch to more subdued!

Thanks again doc! Agree with you there on longevity of Fortuners.

Want a tip: Get the 530 instead of 520d. You will thank me every time you gun it down the open highways! Check out GTO's thread on his beast!

Thanks Anup. Trust me ride quality issues are almost sorted out to perfection by Ironman in my car. New Gen Fortuner is going to be a great vehicle. Looks may have gone soft, however I am sure they will better it in many areas where current gen is below par for the kind of price we pay!

Meanwhile, yesterday being a Sunday, I & .Anshuman went to pick up a pair of tow straps for our respective vehicles. Got a 5 Tons load capacity tow strap with 4.75 Tons load capacity D Shackles. Costed us INR 1800 per strap.

Re: Trucking in my Atlantis! My Pre-Worshipped Toyota Fortuner 3.0L 4x4 MT

Fortuner owners on TBHP/BHPians having more info on this matter:

Guys, can you let me know whether Fortuners delivered in 2009 (mine was on Dec 18, 2009) was compliant to Euro 3 or Euro 4? Should be on your original PUC document or on your RC (some states mention that on the document).

Interested to know since there is no clarity on this, even from my Toyota SA. What I understand is Euro 4 (Bharat Stage 4, more specifically) kicked in around March/April 2010, however there were a few manufacturers who had cars in their Portfolio which were BS4 ready even in 2009. I was going to some random documents on internet and happened to dig a purchase quotation from Ministry of Commerce and Industry where a 2009 Oct Fortuner is mentioned as BS4.

Want to know whether mine is BS3 or BS4 and your valuable insights would be welcome.

Re: Trucking in my Atlantis! My Pre-Worshipped Toyota Fortuner 3.0L 4x4 MT

NO clue on BS4/BS3 confusion still. Karan561 says his is BS4. Manuuj's car is probably same batch as mine (Dec 2009) and I have dropped a PM to him. Hope he happens to know.

Meanwhile, I wanted to share a YouTube channel which I am finding very interesting these days. This chap, Ronny is from Western Australia and have plenty of useful info on his website. Good selection of videos on his channel, his travelogues etc. His videos are of TV quality and very interesting for rookie 4x4ers like me.

A few selected posted below.

AT Vs MT? What to choose?

Which Gear in Which Situation?

A video on Diff Lockers. I plan to get rear OEM diff lockers from Toyota South Africa for Atlantis.

Tips on Winch Use.

Tips and Equipment for Beginners

And in the end, a review of modified Hilux SR5 pickup which is somewhat similar to my Atlantis.

Enjoy!

Hi Venom

The XUV is sold now. It was a HR registered W8, registration ending with 9999, 29xxx kms on the odo and April 2014 make. Was available with a friend's friend and was sold in April month itself since the vehicle was in very good condition and price asked was really mouthwatering. In fact, once I bought Atlantis, .anshuman wanted to check out that particular XUV for his cousin, we were too late for that. Missed a great deal there!

His cousin later bought a pre-worshipped white 2015 XUV W6, locally from Haryana.

By any chance do you have the Invoice of the vehicle? I had bought a swift in 2010 Aug and it was clearly mentioned. I remember the SA at that time had informed that the prices were revised because the cars were BS4 compliant. If nothing works out, suggest you to either contact the previous owner or the nearest TASS or write to Toyota.
As per wiki, the BS4 was enforced from April 2010.

rakesh_r, thanks for your reply. For invoice, I will have to check with rhandle. His company's finance team may have the copy of the original invoice in their records. My SA at Toyota didn't have a clue when I asked him about this during last service. Next time I will inquire with someone senior at the dealership, let's see if I can get a clarity on this from them.
