Yes, the complaint has been closed after crediting back the amount. Not sure if it was due to the complaint or the monthly batch process, but the amount is back

Fancy odo update:
The Sleeper | My Maruti S-Cross 1.6 Alpha | 140,000 kms completed-img_20181213_182409.jpg

The steering wheel leather has become pathetic after 2 years and 3 months of use. I expected more quality, but then I must have high expectations

Have to see how this can be rectified or replaced. Any ideas?

You can always get the steering wheel re-wrapped in genuine leather. As you are aware, Jeewajee in Chennai could help you with this.

Or, you could take a day off, drive to Bengaluru and visit Devaraj/Nagaraj.

Also, Delhi is not (too) far .

re: The Sleeper | My Maruti S-Cross 1.6 Alpha | 140,000 kms completed

The car has come back after the 60000 km service. The service costed around 9500 rupees. My oil sump had also cracked some time back and had that replaced as well. Including labour, the cost came to around 13000 rupees.

The part was not available so had to wait for a week. Put mseal on the cracked sump and managed during that time. The crack was a very minor one but did not want to risk it. The same sump for the 1.3 variant is only around 3000 .

Also changed the steering cover from a local accessory guy for 1300 rupees. The steering now feels thicker and better to hold.

re: The Sleeper | My Maruti S-Cross 1.6 Alpha | 140,000 kms completed

Had an accident last week, the details of which are posted in the accidents thread.

Link: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/road-...ml#post4555674

Gave the car to NEXA Keelkattalai for repairs. The car came back yesterday. They took 4 days which was good time I think as they had to change the front and rear bumper and the boot door. The paint matching has been done very well and the car was delivered clean. The total bill came to around 33000 odd rupees. The Zero depreciation helped here with me paying the compulsory deductible of 2000 rupees only.

Impressed with the NEXA guys quality of work and also the updates that they had provided over the course of the work.

re: The Sleeper | My Maruti S-Cross 1.6 Alpha | 140,000 kms completed

Got my car back from the 70000 km service. Total cost came to 6800 rupees. There are two issues to attend to:

1. The rear suspension is kaput, have placed order for a new one and is expected to arrive in 2-3 days time
2. The check engine light was glowing and the error code revealed that it was the Oil pressure switch that has stopped working. Order has been placed as the switch is not there in Chennai anywhere. Expecting the same to arrive in another 4-5 days. Have pushed for a warranty claim, will update when the part comes in stock.

Had a couple of recent trips to Bangalore and Madurai from Chennai, and the car performed as usual, no tantrums, fill it, shut it, forget it.

Finally got the rear shock, which had a leak and the oil pressure switch after the parts arrived. The shocks were covered under extended warranty while I had to pay 800 odd rupees for the oil pressure switch.

The car has run 723XX kms.

re: The Sleeper | My Maruti S-Cross 1.6 Alpha | 140,000 kms completed

The car completed 75000 kms on a recent trip to Tuticorin and back. The car gave one of its highest mileage of ~20 kms per liter for the Chennai - Madurai stretch. Since I was driving at night, did not go beyond 110 so the mileage bumped up significantly.

On a side note, on high speed braking, sometimes the steering wheel vibrates before the speed reduces. What is this a sign of? Request experts help please. Is it a sign to change the pads?

There are 2 possibilities. Wheels might be unbalanced, Or, it could be the discs (aka rotors) that might be "out-of-true", or just very slightly warped.

If ABS malfunction lights are not on, in all probability, it's the brake pads and/or discs that have gone past their age. Please get them checked. Dr. Naren would be a much better expert on the S-Cross 1.6 brakes .

1. Brake rotors: Just run your fingers and check if there are any deep scratches. This is the common issue in OE rotors. Maruti has even sent root cause analysis circular of the same to dealers.

2. Brake Pads: Check if there is any deformity / cracks.

3. Caliper sliding pins should be adequately greased.

re: The Sleeper | My Maruti S-Cross 1.6 Alpha | 140,000 kms completed

Car has run 78300 odd kilometers now. The check engine light has come up again, have to take the service center to get this checked. This light has been the main problem across my ownership, once for brake switch and once for a faulty oil pressure switch. Let's see what it is this time. There is no loss of power though

re: The Sleeper | My Maruti S-Cross 1.6 Alpha | 140,000 kms completed

An update after quite some time.

With Covid, there was no running for till June and post that only some quick runs for groceries, in law visits happened. Had to visit Madurai last week though and finally the car ticked over the 80,000 km mark.

Gave the car for service as well. In addition, also changed the front brake pads and one of the parking sensors which had gone kaput. With both of these, the cost came to around 16,000.

Here's to more running in the next 6 months!!
