re: My Ford Figo 1.5L TDCi - The Mile Cruncher: 79,000 km up!

>>40,000KM Service update (Lakshmi Ford, Vijayawada) :

Date: 26.11.2016,
Odometer : 40,327KM,
Bill :Rs. 5432/-

Parts replaced : Mandatory - >Engine oil, Engine oil filter, Gasket drain plug, Air filter, AC filter

Additional services taken :Wheel alignment /balancing, Engine room waxing(engine bay gets only pressurised air blower treatment during intermediate car washes, hence I get the engine room waxing done during service visits. I guess it's not of much use, opted only for personal satisfaction!!), washer fluid pouch

Remarks:
>There were no specific complaints to report to begin with.
>Brake pads good enough for another 10,000KM as per the service advisor.
>Michelins are good enough for another 20K KM.
>Battery is holding up quite OK.

Fuel economy summary so far (till the last fuel replenishment):
Date Range NOV 2015 — NOV 2016
(13 months)
Fuel Economy (avg) 21.67 KM/L
Fuel Economy (min) 18.44 KM/L
Fuel Economy (max) 24.37 KM/L
Distance Driven 40280 kilometers
(3098 per month)

OT:There was an Aspire TDCi which came for the 50K KM service. Its tyres (Apollos) were in very bad shape(couldn't take a pic). The owner swapped them for Michelins now(Lakshmi Ford has started offering Michelins now ).
The S.A. informed that MRF ZV2K stocks on Figos & Apsires have quality issues and appreciated my decision to swap them for Michelins on Day1 itself!!

re: My Ford Figo 1.5L TDCi - The Mile Cruncher: 79,000 km up!

Found an ingeniously crude solution for the door-rattles!!
The service center technician attributed the cause to the poor alignment of door latches. He suggested wrapping them with electrical tape, which was done at the service center itself(on 26.11.2016 during the 40K service). I've observed for the rattles thereafter during the last week and there is a marked reduction. They were mostly feeble to begin with (coming only when travelling over rough roads) but even that has reduced by a considerable margin. Let's see how things work out going forward.

re: My Ford Figo 1.5L TDCi - The Mile Cruncher: 79,000 km up!

Pasted the Team-BHP sticker, finally!!
I wanted to complete at least 100 posts before putting the sticker on, it's a bit of a responsibility
On a side note, the Figo, after having completed 42000KM in 13months, has finally switched to a saner schedule. I've moved my residence to where I work(about a km from the workplace) and the Figo is not used daily anymore (am using my Activa for the short commute). Now, I am missing the daily drives on the Figo a lot and can't wait to take it out for a spin

Just one thought, the WA & WB is included in the service costs. I dropped my car today for the 20K Km service and since it's a regular service the cost he quoted was just Rs. 4800/- inclusive of mandatory replacement parts. WA/WB and Tyre rotation.

The extra bill in my case was due to Underbody Corrosion Protection (~3200)+AC Filter replacement (~300)+Engine Room Waxing (~200) which were all taken out of choice!

Yes! WA/WB is included in the regular service costs. The reason why I mentioned it as additional service is because many people choose to get it done outside and people like me seem to be in the minority group

Thanks for putting together a very comprehensive ownership report as it would be helpful for readers to estimate average service cost.

Crossed the Five Fours KM milestone!!!
I am planning to shift to the 5K KM interval for Engine oil change starting at the 45K KM mark.

Great thread Praveen. I have been following your thread. It has given me enough push to go ahead with Figo Titanium Tdci. I'm booking my ride today. I'll get in touch with you in case of any queries.

Congratulations! I hope your booking experience went well! Which colour have you opted for?!

My above-mentioned plan has been put on hold for the time being. My service advisor at Lakshmi Ford, Vijayawada has discouraged me from switching to the 5K KM interval. His logic :

While a switch to the 5K KM interval per se is probably good for the engine but it would also prevent any possible underlying issues (like engine gulping more than required engine oil) from cropping up. And if any such issue is to crop up, it should arise while the vehicle is under warranty (mine is under 1lakh KM/4years warranty) and not after the warranty has expired. If we take more than required care of the car during warranty, it may lead to issues being suppressed longer, away from our notice, thereby wasting warranty benefits.

Hence, he asked me to stick to the recommended consumables replacement schedule until warranty expires and change to the desired schedule after that!

Hi Praveen,
Yes it was good. I got to test the Figo extensively. But the dealer was reluctant on giving the discounts. Also, the Figo with the color that I have opted for (Blue) is expected to get delayed by 1.5 months!!
Still, I assume it's worth waiting for this beast.

Absolutely worth the wait IMO. The diesel engine is a gem and will never leave you disappointed, be it during those quick overtaking maneuvers or when you need that extra punch . Every drive in this vehicle will leave you contended

On a side note do push the dealership and keep yourself updated frequently on the delivery or else they might delay it further and try to push for discounts or atleast freebies right before making final payment it might help.

Thanks for the reassuring words Blackbandit. I'm decided to get the ride shod with Yokohama Earth 1 185/65 R14 soon after the delivery on the stock alloy rims. Hope that gives me an edge in handling. As I do lot of Bangalore-Mangalore trips, hope my next journeys will be more enjoyable 😉

Yes! 185/65/R14 Yokohama Earth 1s would certainly improve not only handling but also the ride quality!!

re: My Ford Figo 1.5L TDCi - The Mile Cruncher: 79,000 km up!

Scratch to the front bumper(bottom part): The Figo hit an inconspicuously located concrete pipe while parking in pitch-dark conditions and the result was as shown in the picture. Driving lesson learnt - - >Never be carelessly overconfident however easy the situation may seem like
Planning for a touch-up job during the next service centre visit.

re: My Ford Figo 1.5L TDCi - The Mile Cruncher: 79,000 km up!

It's been quite some time since the last update. Just thought of updating the recent FE figures(Tankful method using the Fillup App). The figures might suggest that I'm a sedate driver, but that is far from the truth
