Forgot what it was when I exchanged them. So better go for 6 or 6.5J alloy wheels (guess aftermarket is 6.5J) and then go for the 195 section. Else the 195 section on 14 inch 5.5J wheels might cause the tyres to bulge out and not provide the requisite grip!
Yes! That is something I am a little bothered about as well! I think 195 section is the maximum limit for 5.5J wheels(range is 165 to 195). Figo alloys are 5.5J if I remember correctly. So 195 section tyres should be just about OK. I still have about a month to decide. I'll research on it further until then!!

Yeah I too think the Figo Stock alloys are 5.5J & the Fiesta Classic also came with the same wheel and tyre size as the current gen Figo. That was definitely 5.5J alloys. I did try out a 195 section tyre on one wheel and it was bulging on the sides and i felt it was not doing justice. So went with 185 section tyres. The tyre shop guy was good enough to let me try 195 before making up my mind though he did inform me that 195 will not be a good fit on 5.5J alloys. So if you have a friendly tyre dealer, he will allow you to mount the 195 tyres on the alloys and place them near the wheel well for you to get a feel for it. He will not allow you to drive though and you have to make up your mind looking at the wheel in the wheel well. If you can do this then it is a good option!

Thanks a lot for the idea I'll certainly try for that. Sort of a trial room for the wheels

re: My Ford Figo 1.5L TDCi - The Mile Cruncher: 79,000 km up!

Was returning from a trip to Hyderabad. Took the Outer Ring Road for about 60KMs. Speed limit of 100kmph for the road seems to be a bit on the lower side. I've heard the traffic police is taking limit violations quite seriously as well(speeding tickets being issued). Hence my car didn't get to cross the 100kmph mark here(Many cars weren't caring a damn for the speed limit rule though!!)

Couple of pictures of the Road here. The Figo's shadow was captured too

First picture is pretty

Outer Ring Road (ORR) is the pride of Hyderabad. And, should be the pride of our country too. It is without any challenges is the best 4-lane freeway in our country and no other highway in India is comparable

What you said is right, I used to enjoy some good speeds in the Aspire on this freeway as I use it a lot but, over the last couple of weeks, I have stuck to 100kmph on Odometer (GPS would be slightly lower) as the cops are issuing the speeding ticket with a vengeance and the fine is quite steep (INR 1400/-)

Honestly speaking for Hyderabad ORR, the speed limit should have been 120kmph (It is legally there with signboards for some sections of this ~180kms freeway) but, dont know why the cops are issuing tickets even for 101kmph

Agree with you that Aspire/Figo cannot be driven at 100kmph (Back from a 800kms road trip and used the ORR to get home a few hours back)

I agree with your views 100 percent. However the ORR is a 8-lane road, and certainly not an ordinary 4-lane highway. Speed limits vary per lane

Yeah, My bad. ORR is a 6-lane freeway but, I was not aware that speeds vary from per lane? Any official information regarding the same?

It was communicated around three years ago. The left-most lanes have a speed range of 40 to 80 KMPH, while the ones close to the median have a range of 80 to 120, as far as I remember. The upper limit was reduced to 100 a few months ago.

I'm a little baffled as to why the authorities reduced the speed limit (recent accidents, especially involving some celebrities, might have led to it I guess). Whatever the case might be, there was this constant craving for Cruise Control as long as I was on the ORR (it went away the moment the Figo hit the regular Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway thereafter, of course )

re: My Ford Figo 1.5L TDCi - The Mile Cruncher: 79,000 km up!

70,000KM Service update:
Date:04.11.17
Location: Lakshmi Ford, Vijayawada
** Took the offer from Lakshmi Ford where I paid Rs.6479/- which would cover the expenses for the next service as well(anything replaced other than recommended as per servcie schedule would be charged extra). The net benefit would be around Rs.2000/- across both services.

The Figo completed 2 years on 01.11.17. It also touched the 70K KM mark by that date. The mileage came down by a bit in the second year (33000 KM)vis-a-vis the first year(37000KM).

Parts replaced(mandatory): Engine oil, engine oil filter,Gasket drain plug
Parts replaced(out of choice): Air filter & AC filter.

The car has crossed the 2 year mark without any bothersome hiccups! So far so good. I am happy!!

One of the tyres suffering multiple punctures has triggered the need to replace the tyres a little sooner. But that's OK as 70K KM is more than satisfactory mileage for the Michelins anyway

One pain-in-the-neck part I got rid of during this service are the wheel nut caps. They were making it really difficult to unscrew the wheel nuts(the caps had become loose/edges blunted, hence lost the grip over the nuts). The mechanic at the service center just cut them off using a screw driver and a small hammer. I need to procure a size 18 lug wrench now for the actual nuts underneath the caps(one size smaller than the one that comes in the car's tool kit).

I am planning to get the tyres changed (Upsizing to195/60/R14 or sticking with the current size of 185/65/R14 Michelins) by the end of this month.

To mark the occasion of the car's 2 years completion, I got the alloys painted black and the calipers/drums dark red(Cost -> Rs.5000/- at the local automobile paint shop). Few pics:

Congrats on a trouble free 70k. Didn't know that our cars shared the same birthday But mine is only at 16,800 so far.

The gloss black alloys look great. I have also planned to get my wheel caps painted the same shade, but my estimate was 3500 (including a few other parts).

Congrats on completing 70,000kms!! Glad to know that the experience has been good so far. The choice of paint for the alloys is very good. I infact got confused if you had upgraded to the Figo S alloys. Gloss black though difficult to maintain in clean shape always, lends the much needed sporty look to the car! Awesome job!

Parts replaced : Mandatory - >Engine oil, Engine oil filter, Gasket drain plug, Air filter, AC filter

Additional services taken :Wheel alignment /balancing, Engine room waxing(engine bay gets only pressurised air blower treatment during intermediate car washes, hence I get the engine room waxing done during service visits. I guess it's not of much use, opted only for personal satisfaction!!), washer fluid pouch

Remarks:
>There were no specific complaints to report to begin with.
>Brake pads good enough for another 10,000KM as per the service advisor.
>Michelins are good enough for another 20K KM.
>Battery is holding up quite OK.
Praveen, I am planning an early 40K kms service for my Aspire as a sudden drive plan came up out of the blue

This update is awesome to begin with. Any other pointers to remember when I get mine done?

There are no complaints at all except there is a slight squeaking sound from the front passenger seats once in a while while going over bad roads

Btw, Your mile munching is in a different league

Nothing much, really. But, to be on the safer side, double-check the condition of brake pads. Also, keep an eye on the engine oil consumption rate of the car(although my car has not had any issues so far, my SA made a passing reference a few times about the excessive consumption rates of the engines on Aspire/Figo 1.5TDCi. I am not sure whether to believe him or not as they couldn't show me a car with such an issue while I was at the Service Center)

Great. That's a nice input. Will keep an eye on that for sure

Btw, my brake pads were changed at the 30K kms interval if my memory serves me right and a check of them will certainly happen as I need them to work well considering how fast it goes
