Congratulations on achieving this milestone with the little car. You have maintained it with love.

I haven't had a service bill more than 4000 rupees all these years. The car hasn't failed even once. Everything works as it should (except the tailgate, which I will explain later).
This is quite a significant revelation for me too.

Recently we bought the Santro AMT for a city car after replacing the Figo 1.2P. Choosing between the Diesel Duster and this car is a no brainer now, It is always the Santro for the city. Even if I spend more on the fuel, I would be spending less per km, if you factor in the maintenance costs.

Avg. Cost of service for Duster: 12,000/-
Avg. Cost of service for Santro: 3,000/-

Cost of set of tyres for Duster: 36,000/-
Cost of set of tyres for Santro: 10,500/-
.
.
.
adding up everything, it really makes sense to have a cheap to run car to offset expenses.

Attachment 2208796

It has been a trouble free little car all the while
Nice to see a long term ownership report . Thanks for sharing it across. I have a Kwid RxL AMT for the secondary car and it is a perfect beater for the city usage. My usage is little less and have clocked 20K to date. Few questions
- Have you experienced a wobbly ride when on good roads with slight uneven surfaces at lower speeds or when decelerating? It's a kind of wobble enough to give feedback to steering with my car .
Got this checked at ASS and Wheel Alignment centre too , however it's still a mystery on why the wobble exists. ASS says that it's quite common for all Kwid cars. So appreciate if you could comment too since you seen a good 50K kms!
- The rattles part is something which I have made peace with. There are rattles all around my car, especially around the door locking knobs.
- Totally agree with your view on Stock Ceats . I got a Yokohama recently with stock size and the difference is quite huge from stock tyres.

Nice post! The roof wrap is classy and the car looks really nice! Amazing FE for this car, do share easy driving tips as with the fuel prices better driving is a life skill.

Cheers! Happy motoring

I had a Kwid AMT and drove it for 24000 kms before selling it. Absolutely cannot relate to what you have mentioned. I used to frequently take it on NICE (which is not so Nice) road as well as a few Highway drives and ORR. A very minimal steering feedback (not like Hydraulic units) existed when going over say a rocky road but never when decelerating. Do check for uneven wear on tyres and brake shoe wear on both of the front tyres.

I haven't experienced any wobbles so far, nothing noticeable as such. Please check if there is wear in the tyres or the pressure is too much in them? I usually set pressure to 29 psi on all wheels.

Some tips for better fuel efficiency

1. Anticipate and drive - taking foot off the gas pedal if there is an obstacle or slow-moving traffic a few hundred meters ahead.

2. Gradual acceleration and intermittently applying accelerator instead of always gunning it and braking when there is a need to slow down.

3. Using momentum to advantage, coasting when possible

4. Utilizing instantaneous fuel efficiency read-out of the MID as a guide to extract max fuel efficiency, since there is no tachometer in Kwid to keep an eye on rpm levels.

5. Proper air pressure in all wheels

6. Proper highway cruising speeds (70-90 kmph)

7. Keeping the RPM low at all times, which is a bit tricky and needs experience, again because of lack of tachometer.

Happy to see you are having a good run with the Little SUV. Many more miles to come.
OT: I follow your thread for some time now, i remember you posting a picture for the 3rd Ayudha pooja and hinting that it would probably be the last one. But looks like the Kwid has survived to stay in your garage!

I happened to sell my ciaz last year. Kwid has become one of the 3 cars, of which my family uses one and I use two for my own use.

I did plan on selling kwid even last year and buy another car but I didn't get satisfying quotes. I realized that retaining it is the best decision at this point in time. Moreover 50k km is nothing in our household. My ciaz and ex Safari dicor did almost thrice that distance in 5 years time.

Renault and Datsun have now made dual airbags as standard in all variants of the Kwid/Redigo respectively, in line with the government mandates. So choosing a safe variant is easier on the wallet. I dont think MSIL or Hyundai has done it with their cars yet.

I feel the noise of the car is on the higher side and it creeps into the cabin while driving. Apart from that, it's a wonderful car to drive. High GC, 300 ltr boot, Reverse Parking Camera, Touchscreen with Android Auto. At the price point for an entry level hatchback what more can one ask.

Thanks for the suggestion @Prasanna. Tyres are new, however I set the tyres to 32 on all from the beginning, it might be too much. I will reduce it by a couple of psi and try.

Renault recommends 29psi. And I found that it was the real sweet spot for a plush ride. Anything higher and the same speedbreakers were breaking the spine. 30 psi max I would say.

I had to transport a couple of tempo traveller tyres today. It was the first time I have ever folded the rear seats.

Quirky setup I would say, to pull a thread at the either side of the seat to fold it forward. It doesn't fall flat on the floor, rather at a small incline. There is a first time for everything

Closing September 2021 with 50770 km on the odo.

Total usage this month 3040 km

Shared between Storme 1270 km &
Kwid 1.0 1770 km

I used the kwid more this month. I have started to like using the kwid more than the Storme. Credit to ease of use and the terrific fuel efficiency of the kwid.

re: 5 Years & 50,000 km with my Renault Kwid 1.0 RXT(O) - Ownership Review | EDIT: SOLD

Update - 55,000 km service

The little Renault surprised(irritated!!) me by throwing the CEL warning on the dash. I haven't seen that bloody light in any of my cars for 12 years now! So it really messed up with my mind. I was busy and could not get the kwid to the A.S.S. This happened on Tuesday.

Today, I scheduled an appointment for service with Trichy Renault. When I started the car, I noticed that the bloody CEL warning was no where to be seen. With relief, I left the car for the service. Due was at 55,000 km but the car has done only 52300km.

Repairs demanded :

1. CEL warning diagnosis & rectification if needed

2. Tailgate hydraulic struts have failed, needed to be replaced

Other than that it's just the regular stuff - all fluids and filters replacement, wheel balancing and alignment, wash n wax etc.

The customer lounge was among the better ones I have witnessed with the local mass market brands. Neatly maintained!

Promise, that they do keep.

5 Years & 50,000 km with my Renault Kwid 1.0 RXT(O) | EDIT: Sold-20211216_101809.jpg

The car left at the service center, with the tag "10". The service personnel did take a bit longer to log the service into their system than Maruti/Tata.

5 Years & 50,000 km with my Renault Kwid 1.0 RXT(O) | EDIT: Sold-20211216_102500.jpg

Service estimate was a rather high 8500 INR. I have never paid over 4.5k for service of my kwid so far. But yes, understandable that rear struts need to be changed. Even then, the service advisor promised me final invoice will definitely lesser. The service advisor also recommend AC compressor and alternator belts to be replaced. It was less than 500 INR combined and I gave the green signal.

Note the comment "Repair recommendation refused by customer - poor break pad condition". This is the first time I am leaving the kwid for service. Last time it was my driver and he never told me about the service advisor asking to replace brake pads. I didn't do it this time too as the brakes have nothing to complain.

The final bill was a very reasonable 7249 INR

What a cutie!

Awaiting a car that would beat both of these in Kitna deiti hei, 2021 Celerio K10C that I have booked for my dad. Delivery probably in the next week.

Trivia : I was talking with the service guy and asked about the highest number he has seen in the odo of Kwid in their dealership. He said it was 2,15,000 km run Kwid which still is doing duties to its owner without any work being done in the engine

Just made me glad to keep the kwid for a few more years (just kidding, Knowing the monkey mind I have regarding
cars that are 5+ years old, i might buy something else next year lol). But, there isn't a reason for me to let go of the kwid. Such a cute, efficient, useful, fun car it is.
