Castrol GTX diesel is a higher grade oil, and is very rare. Not available with most dealers.
GTD is also a good oil, and they get a good discount on GTD as the workshops buy drums.

Nope Castrol GTX DIESEL API-CI4. Its widely available here

1. lesser smoke now from before, i filled normal diesel only and the observation is based on 2 tankfulls. I also observed that the smoke which was present during the night time against other vehicles light has become lesser. may be a good cleanup of the catcon and egr is required.

Hello Rahul,
Happy to hear that your machine gives lesser emissions now.
Any specific reason for using the low octane diesel (non-premium)? I believe that the fuel additives in the premium diesel residue some gum kind of substances in the engine and fuel line. Is this something that made your vehicle to emit black smoke before? My Lx is 5 months old now and still using the premium diesel but did not observed any additional smoke. Please let us know if you personally experience anything bad from the premium.

Pune is known for spurious diesels all around and havent been able to locate a good one except a 1-2 pumps. Now i am filling in diesel normal + systemD as told by tata. Somehow i found that premiums diesel were emitting more smoke than before due to spurios nature..

Premiuim i suppose increase the carbon content of the fuel..there for LSD normal for my dicor

Got the point, Thanks Rahul.

Whats Team-BHP experts comment about this option (of using normal Diesel with System-D? Can someone explain what exactly is the property of System-D? Does it hike the octane value of the fuel?

Update: 17200 km. All good.
Mileage: Consistent 9.5 kpl in city with A/C on (rarely go into 4th). Highway 14 kpl with A/C on and steady 120 kph.

My shifting pattern in the city is: 2000 rpm in each gear; highway 2500 rpm in each gear. Downshifts at 1000 rpm in each gear.

Sorry.. but the list of problems faced by a lot of people here seems to be too looooooongs &annoying to enjoy that long drive on the highways!!

Seriously guys think of consolidating all the problems and raising it up with some serious responsibile official in TATA somebody at a VP level or something responsible for engineering and we should seek answers.

I know this feeling where one knows he has made a mistake then all the actions are to live with it and make small good things look big. No offenses this is true with me also. Am yet to see a completely happy Safari owner who is saying that all he does is change the oil and the relevant filters periodically and everythingelse is okay.
