Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia

Hello folks, I picked up reignofchaos's cedia and thought of putting down my attendance here.

Competed around 1000KMs and loved every moment of it! Few pictures of the car :

Need some help right now, can anyone post the part numbers for the front caliper pins and the rubber bellows? Went through the whole thread but couldn't find them.

Haha thanks! I couldn't have been happier you chose me to look after the Cedia!

Its a mix of Dubai, USA and local sources. Me and schakravarthy are building a parts cache for our cars :P apart from these, I also have new fuel pump, injectors and tie rods which will be swapped during the next service as preventive maintenance. I'll be getting a full set of engine/gearbox mounts too soon.

The car was near perfect mechanically (thanks to reignofchaos!) only weak link was the rear suspension and that has been fixed. Rest of the mods were all for my individual requirements and tastes.

I have done so many small changes I've forgotten them all oh well remembered a few now :

Two cigar lighter sockets added. One for Dashcam and one for a hidden charger.

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-img_20160210_191919001.jpg

The charger is located under the dash and the USB cables are routed through the center tunnel. They exit right next to the seat belt coupling. Complete stealth and no messy wires!

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-img_20160211_180345001.jpg

Parts from USA :

Denso Iridium plugs

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-img_20160310_215455001.jpg

Cabin filters, spare remotes for central lock, flippy key, Permatex Ceramic Brake/Caliper grease and few other bits

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-img_20160313_103736.jpg

Stainless steel silplates.

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-img_20160505_192241.jpg

Upcoming lighting experiment with adding lots of projectors. Sneak peek

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-img_20160505_185714.jpg

Some more shiny pics hehe

Brembos are doing good. 8000KMs up and they're performing decently.

However I had an incident recently which made me rethink of having better brakes. I also faced a weird problem where the steering would vibrate when partial braking (20%) in the middle of a turn. No vibrations on braking full or on a straight line. I'll put in new caliper pistons and proper caliper grease tomorrow and see if it subsides, if not will replace with new carrier and calipers.

SS braided brake hoses and a new master cylinder change will happen in a month. Also thinking of getting Mintex brake pads and try them out.

You can try getting this. It has everything you need :

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Fog-l...606323360.html

I replaced the spark plugs with new ones and its made a massive difference!

Old plugs, new one on the right. Electrodes have worn and gaps were close to 1.5mm instead of 1.1mm spec

Colour seems okay

There was an odd misfire once in a while, now that has gone. Car has become much peppier, pulls much cleaner to the rev limit. It's not placebo, confirmed by fellow cedia owner schakravarthy.

Few pictures on a recent photoshoot

Re: It's White, it's Sports and it's a Mitsubishi Cedia - 1.4 lakh km up & new S-drives!

Finally got the time to overhaul the front brakes!

Sight when I removed the wheels

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-01.jpg

Nasty wheels

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-02.jpg

Much better

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-03.jpg

All rust removed on the rotor. I had painted part of the caliper red using a paintbrush through the alloys to see how a red caliper looked. I did not like it.

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-04.jpeg

Carrier and rear of the rotor painted and left to dry

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-05.jpeg

Caliper and hub painted too

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-06.jpeg

Caliper pins looked to be in decent shape. Normal grease was used which had dried up and causing wear on the pins, sigh.

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-07.jpg

Only the best caliper grease for my car. Everything cleaned and ready for assembly. Rubber bush on the primary caliper pin had to be replaced since it had worn out.

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-08.jpeg

Everything put together. The paint on the rotor will go away after braking couple of times, masking the rotor is a waste of time IMHO.

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-09.jpeg

Wheel arch cleaned and detailed

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-10.jpg

I had to work through the night to finish the other side. No pictured unfortunately.

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-11.jpeg

After a few KMs of driving

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-12.jpg

I finally manage to put in OZ Racing alloys! My car with schakravarthy's Cedia. Silver calipers are very visible and provide a nice contrast to grey OZ alloys.

Re: It's White, it's Sports and it's a Mitsubishi Cedia - 1.4 lakh km up & new S-drives!

I had a high-speed "incident" couple of months ago that left my left ORVM glass shattered and AC/PS Belt damaged. So ended up buying Gates Racing AC/PS Belt from USA.

The same day a very interesting parcel arrived all the way from New Zealand

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-img_20160831_18224801.jpg

New mirrors, midrange speakers for the car, fuel lid spring and a roll of tesa tape arrived soon. Till now I was running a custom made mirror, felt good to have proper mirrors again. yay!

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-img_20160913_083539.jpg

Added a check valve to the windshield washer fluid pipe. Some toyota part sourced from USA, hat tip to Gannu for the idea and part number! Now I get instantaneous water spray from nozzles!

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-img_20160929_100454.jpg

One of these days while peeking under the car, noticed driveshaft boots on one side had torn. Went to my mechanic and got new ones put in.

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-img_20160921_140216.jpg

Gates racing belt was installed

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-img_20160921_141946.jpg

Looks like I have a Hyundai Santro oil filter installed on the car. THis was done by SVR

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-img_20160921_133946.jpg

Immediately got a pair of FRAM ultra synthetic oil filters from USA. One each for mine and schakravarthy's cedias. New set of front sway bar links in the red box since they were damaged on one side in my car.

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-img_20160924_145237.jpg

Thanks to the package from NZ, I am not able to read and write into my ECU I'll be trying out minor changes for now, major tuning will start once I get a wideband and a spare ECU. Below are the stock fuel and ignition maps from my Cedia.

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-stock_map.png

Also managed to click couple of interesting pics of the car

Do share the check valve part no. & source/link for ordering the same.

As for the oil filter, I have Santro filters installed on purpose(it's the exact same size, volume & standard quality but costs only 200+). While the oil used(Motul XCESS-8100) is of very high quality sadly the filters are not designed to keep up. I change the oil filter alone every 2500 to 3000 kms and top up the oil. In a 10-12K kms cycle, end up using an extra litre of oil and 3 to 4 filters but that's the least I can do to keep the 'Blue Streak' purring.

A liter of 8100 XCess is Rs 1200, 4 filters will cost Rs 800 and labour costs for changing oil filters four times? Thats a lot isn't it? Not to mention the downtime when car is at the garge for the filter change.

My approach was to get the best filters and change them only once. The FRAM filter cost 10$ from USA. I have bought 4 liters of Motul 8100 X-Max for Rs 3375 after cashbacks, so my oil change would cost only around 4000rs with the best oil and best filters. Pretty economical isn't it?

I'm probably over reacting regarding the oil filter. The santro filter on my car has done 9000KMs since the last oil change; my cedia has been running 8100 XCess since 40K KMs. I wont be changing the filter till 13-14K when I'll change the oil+filter.

Labour is 100 bucks a pop, so all put together is 2400 bucks over 4= 600/- per change. Nothing to loose sleep over and Dilli Cedia owners' house mechanic Raju is conveniently located near CP. Easily accessible whenever one is driving across Dilli.

So this is the oil filter SVR had installed in my car

Life with a Red Mitsubishi Cedia-img_20160921_133946.jpg

I was roaming around a garage and found an interesting box. THe model number for oil filter was the same as whats on my car. See the "suitable for" box

Anyone who still wants to go to SVR for service, you have been warned.
